Is California's Great America worth the trip?
robbalvey replied to AdventuresinAirtime's topic in Ask Alvey
If that's the case, I'd say just skip it and do Northern California properly next trip. -

Did I miss a rumor that Wicked Twister was going to get moved to one of the California parks??? -

I think if you're going to spend the time to go up to Northern California, you should also hit Discovery Kingdom and Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk. It's a long way to go for just one park. -

I honestly do not understand why people go to a park for the "opening day" of a ride and wait HOURS in line when you can basically go a couple of weeks later and ride with a significantly (in this case maybe several hours) less of a wait in line. Is it really worth the bragging rights? Am I missing something? Then again, I watched people wait two hours for a freaking donut at Universal on the opening day a few weeks back and I went about a week later and walked right up to the cash register... -

It was packed during the last one I went to. Looked like a typical weekend day. I appreciate it. FastLane may be the way to go since they are offering it lol Yep. I had FL on the last Ohio Day I was at and I absoultely needed it! -

Here is the photo of Gatekeeper's line I shot a couple of hours after opening on the first day. Yes, you can see it stretches all the way down the midway and then comes back. I believe the line was 4-6 hours if memory serves correctly. -

I want to say that I probably first met Anne & Brian maybe 15-20 years ago! lol -

Am I missing how either of these two things relate to Cedar Point in any way? I figured it was distantly related to what we were talking about… CP and Steel Vengeance commercials on Chicago TV. -

I honestly don't think Bert needed a lesson from multiple people on how to be polite or ask a question, I think Bert's comment was more just an expression of where humanity is these days and how people don't give a shit about anything besides themselves. So please, for future posts, let's not be insulting to others and assume people in this forum don't know how to be polite or ask someone nicely to do something, because that really was not what Bert was looking for in this situation. Thanks. -

Guys, please - I'm sure we all know by now that cameras are NOT allowed on coasters at Six Flags. Not even chest mounts or wrist mounts. So if you see an on-ride video, and there isn't specific text saying they had permission to shoot it, please don't post it. As awesome as the video may be, we do need to respect the rules and the wishes of the parks we support. Thanks for your understanding.

My take on this, from riding the other night, is that while those hops absolutely feel like they're trying to chuck you off the train, they are still more "comfortable" than the ones at the end up Lightning Run, Lightning Rod, or Storm Chaser. I actually thought they felt *exactly* the same as the ones on Lightning Run, Rod, and Storm Chaser.

It's not in the cards to go this year, sorry. Maybe next year...

Maverick opened in 2007, well before the hype of social media and it's a completely different type of ride, different type of trains and restraints, different type of load/unload process, etc. I'm not even sure how you could compare the two. I'm going to assume that there will be a *LOT* more people heading out for Steel Vengeance in the first couple of weeks of early morning ERT than there were for Maverick. I stand by my initial guess of "one." Thinking that if you are there first, you'll get one ride in, and by the time you get that one ride in, there will be an hour long line that would have built up while you are riding. And if you're not there first, you're in that hour long line... So yeah... "one" is a pretty educated guess.

First of all. Don't call it SteVe if you don't want me to personally come to your house and slap you in the face. Secondly, HOW IS ANYONE SUPPOSED TO ANSWER THAT QUESTION!?!?!? The ride hasn't actually opened to the public yet. There hasn't been any early morning ERTs yet. There is literally NO DATA AT ALL that anyone could formulate an educated response to that question. I mean, I'll just go ahead and answer "one" because I'm pretty sure you'll be able to get at least one ride on it during that time. Seriously though people, are we really this uneducated that it's not obvious that a question like this cannot yet actually be answered?

Europe Trip Help - May 2018
robbalvey replied to DBru's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Look, no offense, but the guy asked for help from people who have taken similar trips or visited these parks. I'm going to assume that you haven't visited these parks because if you had, you'd know that Hansa Park is NOWHERE NEAR where he's going to be traveling to. In fact, if you had gone into Google Maps, you could have seen for yourself before posting. This map below literally took me 90 seconds to make, plugging in his various locations, and if you had done that you would have gone "Huh...this is probably NOT a good suggestion..." The closest he is going to be will be about a 12 hour round trip away. I'm not trying to be mean or rude, I would just really like the forums to *actually be useful* for people, and when someone makes a suggestion without any legitimate knowledge or even bothering to take a few seconds to look it up before suggesting something, that actually doesn't help anyone. I hope you can understand where I'm coming from. -

I've watched this video several times and sent it on to multiple friends, that guy is hilarious!!! I looked back at some other videos of him riding coasters and they are equally funny. I never would have seen it otherwise - thanks very much for posting! FYI - Marcus is the real deal. He’s not one of the “fakers” I was referring to.
