A Night of Thunder 2 Event Scheduled!

^ No big deal. Our DVD party isn't that huge of an event. Personally, I'd reccomend people to go to Dollywood! --Robb -

Damn, that's the night of our Europe DVD Premiere party.... --Robb "Next time..." Alvey -
I wouldn't go into downtown L.A. unless you really "HAVE" to. I mean, the areas around the Staple Center and stuff for example are kind of dodgy, although you most likely will be fine, I just wouldn't go there unless you had a specific reason (a game, concert, etc) Stay clear of South Central LA and Compton. But from what it sounds like you won't be going anywhere near those areas. Otherwise every other place (Orange County, Beverly Hills, The Valley, Santa Clarita, Santa Monica, etc) for the most part are just fine. I'd stay away from Oakland in the bay area. Hope this helps! --Robb

It's not something we've really used on this board. Since we don't really have a 'moderator' group, there are only two groups - Members and Admins. And since everyone is a member, and there are only two admins, it seemed kind of pointless to make a 'usergroup' only to put everyone in that group! --Robb "Doesn't really like seperating people into 'groups' to begin with!" Ugh, this goes back to that whole "personal responsibilty" thing I always talk about. It was no nice to see that this isn't an issue with European parks. If something happens at a park in Europe, people seem to take more personal responsibilty, not have this attitude of 'no matter what, it's not MY fault!' --Robb

^^ Yes, but Florida has Carrabba's...which makes up for all crappy fast food! --Robb

Yeah, Hardee's has a very different menu than Carl's. They share some similarities, but they are differnt. --Robb

Woah...I never get those session ID's when I run the forum! I see stuff that looks like this: http://www.themeparkreview.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=2 http://www.themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=17652 And yeah, I am running an older version. I wil upgrade soon, but with all the mods I have installed, upgrading is not going to be easy. =( --Robb -

what is a lipstick cam and how much does it cost
robbalvey replied to it's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^ It's terrible! Don't bother. We have already purcahsed one and returned it. The MPEG4 compression is worse than some of the worst DVD compression I've seen, and the lipstick cam only has 320k resolution. There really isn't any lipstick cam that you can get on the 'retail' market that's any good. You HAVE to buy from a professional broadcast dealer. --Robb -
Well, the only thing we have to cut is a protoype version of my "Apartment Lawn" invention....but that's a totally different story! --Robb

Pinfari Coasters
robbalvey replied to pgathriller's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I put that they are 'ok'. The only one I would say that has really beat me up was the RC48 in Wildwood, but then when we went back and rode it last year, it was just fine. *shrug* Overall, they seem like Galaxi's or Zyklons in that they are fine for fair coasters, seaside parks, small parks, but in no way are they going to make me re-arrange my top 100 coaster list! IMO, they are a 'filler' ride for a park that needs something somewhat decent, but can't afford one of the 'majors'. --Robb -

Where did you guys ride Cyclops at? Two years ago the back seat had the most insane airtime EVER!!! --Robb -
^ I think what Elissa is also getting at is that you need to give people MORE information. That's great that it's KBF and PGA, but what about them? It is just roller coaster footage? Are there antics with friends? How long is the video? When was it shot, etc, etc. Have a look at our most recent video announcement: http://www.themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=17665 And look at the amount of information we give too. If you want people to look at your stuff tell them what it is. If people aren't paying attention to your video or posts, perhaps you should look at your post, then look at other people's posts as examples, and make note of what you might be doing wrong! Just some advice. --Robb "Personally, I'd start by using a spell checker!" Alvey

^ Yes that would be Ken. His office is down the hall from mine. Random bit of gaming history: We've known each other for about 20ish years. Back in the 'old days' of the C-64, we had dial-in BBS's and stuff for those games! I helped him get his first job in the industry YEARS ago when we worked together at Virgin. Our office building is pretty damn huge. Gotta be a few hundred people here! And in this "campus" of buildings is Treyarch, Luxoflux, and Activision. --Robb -
