  1. I think the top one should say Oil companies and the lower one should say car owners. (3.95 a gallon here in Terre Haute).
  2. I say something with Big mike. (shameless plug for the big mike road show, see his thread).
  3. ^ So you can predict the weather now huh? Funny because most forecasters can only guess what might happen. Honestly, I am still not convinced of this group. Honestly this seems like the situation of "counting thier chickens before they hatch".
  4. Yeah, This is a very vague topic.
  5. Here is a crappy youtube version, I gotta figure out how to make my editing software not cut off the video 3 minutes in using a AVI file and I tried to upload it here and got a internet explorer error.
  6. To the people who narrowed it down, just wondering what I could have done better? I know resolution wasn't great (that is already being changed this year as I am keeping every single raw video I shoot from theme parks), but besides that, what did I need to do better?
  7. The primary purpose of my trip was to renew my season pass and get a few rides in and be gone in 4 hours. Got to the park about 9am and renewed my pass no problem. First thing I noticed was that Legend was opening late so I was planning on hitting Raven first. Went straight for Raven only to see a ride op standing in front of a closed gate and ride closed sign. Plan C, head to Voyage. Seen a train on the brake run, that looks promising. Got to the line only to see, you guessed it, ride ops waiting outside the ride and saying they don't know when the ride might open. Most got out of line, but knowing the other two coasters weren't open when I came down, I just waited. About 20 minutes later they let us in. Sat in the very back and it was a good ride, rough like last year, but still a good ride. Next I went to check out the new addition for 2008, the carousel. It looks nice and the area around it is nicely landscaped. While in the area, I decided to ride Liberty Launch. Got on in one cycle and rode. Rode it two more times because there was no wait. It was getting near the end of my time I had at the park and still had to hit Legend and Raven. Headed straight for Legend, line extended out onto the walkway. No switchbacks were beings used on the lower level switchbacks, but the whole inside station switchbacks were. Rode in the backseat, last year, this would have killed your back and anything else. They retracked and it did wonders, but still jars you sometimes. It was enjoyable in the back seat. Finally I went to ride the Raven. First thing in the outside que I noticed, HW put speakers in the que with pre recorded safety spiels and other things. They also had a speaker on the lower level of the station house. In the station, the ride ops no longer say anything as it is pre recorded also. As for the ride itself, it was great like usual. At this point I grabbed something to eat and grabbed my cameras for a photo round. I usually do this in about 2 hours, but this time I only had an hour. Due to time contraints, I didn't take many pictures. I have a video produced, but won't be able to upload till tomorrow. This video I put together is actually pretty descent so I can't wait show it off.
  8. The back part of park at SFKK is fenced off for Perlious Plunge refurbishment and well, TT just plain sucks, so no one is hardly ever back there. This information was posted here a while back.
  9. So CP and CW sounded like Holiday World yesterday. I got there and was waiting for the rope drop. They had announced that Legend would open late. So I was going ot make a dash for Raven. Rope drops and I walk down only to see a ride op standing at the entrance, gates closed and closed sign up. So I make my way to Voyage only to find ride ops standing out of the ride, mat. on the brake run, and a line forming. Ride ops said they didn't know when it would open. So 3/4 coasters closed right at opening. Twenty to thirty minutes later, the coasters are open. On Six Flags St. Louis opening day, all the coasters were down at one point also.
  10. One of my co workers bought a 03 or 04 330 with the 6 speed. That thing looks so nice inside and out. I wouldn't mind having one of those either.
  11. Let me just say, if KI gets a Dive Machine, I am buying a season pass!
  12. I know at my community college, you couldn't take the photography classes until you took the core classes.
  13. I can do more at home, more pics on laptop.
  14. I want a 128i, but I want it for it's styling. I am no longer into cars for power. Unless I get a drag racing car for the track.
  15. 1. I would get a camera and just start taking pictures. I am not talking about one of those with auto focusing and all that. I am talking about a digital slr (or a film one if you want to go cheap for now). They can be bought for about 4-500 dollars. They have manual and automatic settings. When you get good, you can either get a job with a newspaper or a magazine if they like you. Or you can get your own website and sell photos that way. 2. Any travel magazine might, but one that deals 100% with coasters might be stretching it. 3. If you are going to a community college with a photography major, they have classes on it. And, if you want, I can sell you a film slr with a non working auto focus for 50 plus shipping, but you can manual focus on the lense. Plus it will come with a flash gun. It is just sitting in my room and I want to get rid of it. It is a nikon n55.
  16. So far I up to the midwest extras. Had to stop due to work. Did notice that Kings Island wasn't on the contents and that the numbering was off, nothing big, just something I noticed watching (don't know if it was mentioned yet or not).
  17. Election day at the station, but hey, free food.
  18. ^^ As much as I would like to support SSA, there is a couple things that makes me not take them very seriously. A. The website looks, how can I say this nicely, crap. B. Nothing is final yet and they are accepting applications on something they don't have. C. They basically want to double the park, ride wise. The park was backrupt once. Who knows what Six Flags was doing finacially with it. How are they going to add all those rides and survive with less population and I don't know how tourism is doing. All I am going to say on this situation. Don't count your chickens before they hatch.
  19. Also, they probably didn't say everything. They said they were acting suspicious, it could mean a number of things. Err on the side of caution.
  20. I can see both sides. If it is was just Carowinds, then yeah, the PD really are stretching it. But if you listen to the story, they also had pictures of the bank towers. This sounds like a legitment probable cause once they looked at the memory cards. Otherwise, going by just taking pictures are Carowinds, that is kinda pushing it, unless they were on Carowinds property.
  21. In March it was announced that the historic Terre Haute Action Track would have new promoters, but lets go back a few years. The previous the promoter ran the track into the ground. Spend as little money as possible to make the most buck doesn't always work. In 2006, attendance at the historic 1/2 mile was low because the promoter didn't run the track worth a darn. In 2007, there was only one race. The track had a big mud puddle in the last turn and was down to two lanes of racing. Which brings us to 2008. The year started out with news that a offer was made on the property the track and fairgrounds stand on. A public outcry made and the grounds were not sold. Not too long later, DHK promotions won the rights to promote the track. They announced a 6 race schedule, and then began the work up to the race. We had a little over two months to get the track ready. Work which included taking down unsafe structures, painting, and most importantly.....Getting the track back to what it should be. Needless to say, everything that needed to be done right away for the first race got done. So onto some pictures of the track before they started working on it. The front stretch when we first started working. Turn 1, water again. Back of the grandstands. Months went by and the front stretch guard rails were removed so a better barrier could go in. Better drainage was put in place on the turns. Work progressed and a few weeks later this is what the track began looking like. New fencing Track prep. Finally, all the months of work was ready to be shown off. And it was done in grand style. Kicked off the racing season at the Terre Haute Action Track with the running of the Clabber Girl Don Smith Classic. Because I worked on the track, I was given media access for the race. Here is my photos that I have uploaded (I have over 300). Thanks for reading. BTW, DHK promotions is a group of men by the names of Davey Hamilton, Mike King, Brian Dorsett and Chris Novitne.
  22. Picture I took on Sunday Midwest Sprint Car's racing on the historic Terre Haute Action Track
  23. You can do this in the search feature, it is a little more involved to do it though. Atleast I beleive you can.
  24. Seems this is strangely close to the play any musical instruments thread. http://www.themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=17862&start=150
  25. Mid may, wth, they don't even have track up and only about 15 supports. Then they got to test it, this may be a late may opening, but def. not mid may.
