  1. It's in PA...Erie to be precise.
  2. I'd probably agree if I saw it in person and rode it myself. For rides I've actually been on, this has to be it:
  3. Forward and reverse mounted POVs have appeared on Youtube:
  4. ^Might as well throw in Wildcat and Valleyfair's antique cars in too.
  5. To each his own, I guess. Gemini's first drops are parellel as are most racing coasters. ...Unless you're referring to Gwazi, which, yes, is a dueling coaster. I was referring to Gemini the whole time, since coastercrazy 9 mentioned it. Whoops.
  6. Gemini doesn't really duel, though...aside from the helices immediately preceding the brake run, it's more a racer than a dueler.
  7. How close to the water do Skycoaster riders come? Kennywood's Skycoaster is over a lake with paddleboats in it, but unlike ours, it looks like DL's boarding area seems quite close to the water level. If that's not an issue, there is no other reason I can think of that boaters shouldn't be allowed go under it. I respect DL's judgment, but I'm a bit confused here.
  8. The giant helix is far enough away from the rest of the park...I say it should be imploded!
  9. Here's some photos for the index. Kennywood repainted the Auto Race in 2010 Overall view of completed Black Diamond Kennywood constructing an entryway for Black Widow; it is not completed yet Closeup of the sign on the entrance Black Widow from afar Waldameer's Happy Swing as seen from the wheel Delgrosso's train is actually called Tipton Creek Railroad; Little Toot is simply the name of the engine that is on display Swing Buggy, new for 2012
  10. Makes you wonder...had Dorney Park kept Hercules, I bet RMC could have done something spectacular with it. It's long gone, though, so I also have to cast my vote to Mean Streak. It's the most similar ride to the old Texas Giant in my opinion, and CP doesn't seem to mind devoting a season to general park improvements.
  11. Sounds like the park is removing Extreme: http://www.screamscape.com/html/grona_lund.htm Photo taken by cfc, from TPR's gallery Based on the park's knack for maximizing their use of minimal space, I can't wait to see what develops from this.
  12. I guess they figured the image and text they used for the teaser were enough for someone who's been to another CF park with DA to figure out. The $1,000,000 question is where exactly it's going to go.
  13. For a backstage area, that's considerably well landscaped...with the signage and cacti, it almost looks like they want you to see it!
  14. I know I'm not the first one to mention this, but since Google Maps has updated their aerial image of Dorney Park, I figured I'd throw in my MS Paint skills into the mix... With the opening of Stinger, this large concrete circle has appeared. I had a look at Cedar Point, which Google Maps has also updated, and wouldn't you know the match is perfect... Took me about ten minutes to whip up. Since Cedar Fair has begun making its announcements for 2013, I wouldn't be surprised to see this happen...
  15. Reminds me of how SFOT demoed Wildcatter.
  16. To my professor and all others out there...
  17. A mirror-image of Storm Runner modified to better fit over the lake would be an awesome replacement. The existing tunnel under the water would fit well between the top hat and inversion. Pipe dreams aside, I don't imagine Anaconda is going anywhere just yet.
  18. ^That was our Facebook page. But the park did have an official response when someone asked about it on their official page:
  19. Really, Screamscape? Each year, the Whip closes early for Phantom Fright Nights. Lost Kennywood, where the ride is located, becomes Gory Park, which is supposed to be a run-down, almost "ghetto" carnival-esque park. A big wall goes up around the Whip, which is covered in graffiti (with a few in-jokes about park staff and a few previous rides). The wall will go up at some point during the week, so the Whip won't be open next weekend.
  20. It's probably another victim of Google Translate. Any time you translate something that includes a measurement, it keeps the number but changes the scale according to the language. I'm guessing Six Flags Mexico used 60 kilometers per hour, which is likely correct.
  21. So, wait. Will DA use the antique auto area AND the current pavilion area? I realize DA requires a substantial amount of land, but you'd think there'd be at least some mention of the cars being removed, especially since the removal of the mini golf is also brought up. I understand that the antique cars are already closed, but you still have to wonder how much of that space will be devoted to DA, or if any will be left over for other future developments.
  22. As far as Sky Rocket goes, the rows not recommended for taller riders are the last row in each car. This is thanks to the design of the car: This picture was taken on the ride's opening day, and a few modifications have been made since, but the area I'm focusing on has not been changed. The rear wheel assembly has more flexibility than the front, so there needs to be more clearance for it. The floor of the car bends up, providing far less floor space than the other two rows. If you have bigger feet, you probably need to turn them sideways to get them to fit flat on the floor, otherwise the shin pads could be quite uncomfortable. It does not appear that Superman's train has changed this at all, and it doesn't look like Full Throttle's trains will either. During Sky Rocket's first season, the coupler was indeed shorter, so the back of row 3's seats came quite close to the riders in row 4. The park forbade anyone over 6 feet tall from sitting there because of that issue, but the rule has been lifted since the coupler is longer and clearance is no longer an issue. Superman uses the longer design.
  23. I'm not saying I agree with it, I'm just pointing out what has been done.
