Oh man, you got to view DBH from the right side?! I should have asked him if I could do that (he let me bring my cameras onride) but my dad said I would have been pushing it. -
Awesome. I'm really sad to say, our band is shrinking, and we are getting SO lazy in marching. We have a horrible director, and she picks the easiest songs to play. In Symphonic band, she is short a horn player, so she makes me read the horn parts...which are incredibly boring. I have to transpose the whole thing, too which SUCKS! Yeah, some (ok, a lot) of people are losing their work ethic in our band, too, and not trying all that hard, and just partying, and we (Baldwinsville Marching Band) won 11 out of the 12 trophies at the Gator Bowl back in December 2006. Plus, this year's songs and drill are a lot harder than last year, and at one time I was the only Sousaphone for a whole week! (And I'm a rookie!) I'm trying like crazy, and it's unbelievably confusing, but I can still find a lot of fun in it.

^ Ok, here is my plan for that: Some of my videos go to over 7 minutes in length because for the larger parks I use two songs instead of just one (although I do vary the shots a lot, make no mistake about that, and they got great reviews at coasterfuel.com) and since the max for TPR is usually 5 minutes, I would take out the second song/ second half of the video from my "best" video as I have a feeling it's one of the larger ones, and then release the full video online after the DVD is out (or if I find out I'm not a finalist) as a "Director's Cut" version.

^I took a closer look at Jogumpie's supports on Project 2007, and I saw that he used a similar strategy to your gray connectors, but on the orange connectors. I'll try to use that. -
^ Who cares if school starts tomorrow? (I'm in Baldwinsville) My first Marching Band show is next Saturday, (I'm one of the new sousaphones) and it's confusing...

Huh? I thought Robb said he was just going to delay it until the end of the summer... Link to the thread: http://www.themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=35455&highlight= And as Barry said right under Robb's reply, Fall would make it after all the TPR group trips are done for the year, and as far as I remember, (and based on the fact that no other 2007 events are on the events page) Japan (the one that they are on now) seems to be the last one of the year. I know they have been rather busy, especially with Kidtums, but still, they have been putting in that third disc with that contains the contest finalists since Coaster Expedition Volume 5 - their first Japan trip.

Migraine Returns [NL]
Tanks4me05 replied to EuroTre's topic in Roller Coaster Games, Models, and Other Randomness
Well, I'll give you one thing - I thought the max speed for NL coasters was about 125, and you got it to 163. Congratulations for making the fastest NL coaster I have ever seen. -
I still think that either A: The contest winner was drawn out of a hat or B: the judges were on near fatal amounts of illegal drugs and alcohol at the time of choosing the winner. Also, to reflect on Turbulence, I don't understand why they cancelled the project. Sure, they asked for $4,000,000 instead of $2,000,000 but $4,000,000 is not that much for a roller coaster - the overall price of a Vekoma Boomerang. But then again, the capacity is only slightly higher than Wild Mouse, so yeah. I personally hope for a Hyper Coaster.
-
Nevermind. I solved the problem - all I had to do was change the discs, and it worked on the first try. I'll start uploading the pictures (421) and videos (13, but one of them will not be uploaded for a while because my best one will be entered in the TPR video contest, so technically 12) in a few days. ULead is temperamental, to say the least.

^^ I know. Trust me, I want them to be at an angle about half as wide as they are, but as you know, K'nex makes angles only at 45 degrees, not 22.5 degrees. ^ I do use stiff Gray (or blue, orange, or black, but they are the same size) pieces instead of the green flexi ones for straight track. They are even on the vertical drop. I even did that on my last one - Gravity. The ting is, I will try to raise the mid point of the Turning Roll, but I'm worried that the train won't have enough speed to make it through there. Also, raising the station would be a bad idea because it probably won't have enough speed to make it into the station at the end. Although I will try to use the boosters somewhere in the course (I will have to actually saw off part of the booster so the train can fit.) I don't know how to build the supports correctly because this is not only the first time I used them, but the second time they have ever been done, and I don't neccessarily have a lot of pieces to make whatever I want, and I already spent about $133 on parts alone. I wanted a more realistic look to the coaster, but I will try the tower idea for just the lift, Alpengeist style. Come to think of it, it will save a lot of pieces, and I might be able to make the cylinders with 8 rods instead of 4. -

Well, seeing as I plan to be an amusement ride designer, it may very well be. (I'm not even in college yet, but I am going to take engineering courses, I have high grades, and I will take this seriously, and properly educate myself. If I don't get hired, I will just make my own company. I know it will be hard, but I am willing to stick through it to be an amusement ride designer.) -
Ok, I've been working on a new coaster called Switchblade, (supports inspired by Jogumpie's Project 2007) and since I kept running out of parts (and slacking off on ordering them) I spent two months just making the first two elements and the station. I spent about $133 on extra pieces (some from the traveling K'nex Show that was in town, where they were about 50% cheaper than online) and now I have enough of the right pieces except for the chain, which I need about $10 worth. But, I have pics! Here is the station. If you look carefully, you can see that the roof is slanted. A closer look at the gates in the station. Here is the first element (one of my signature elements) - The Turning Roll. It is like Hydra's Jo Jo Roll, but it turns 180 degrees as it traverses the inversion. Here is an over head view of the Turning Roll. Proof that it goes upside down. Here is the lift hill and the vertical drop. POV of the first drop. If you look closely, you can see that the lift leans slightly to the left. I don't know why it does that, but at least it's holding itself up.
-
Ok, I'm done, and I added my signature element - the Warped Immelmann. I know it pulls 5.1 - 5.3 G's at the top and 4.9 - 5.1 G's at the bottom because I intentionally made the element that small so it can pull some insane forces. (I like making coasters a little insane.) Besides, Vekoma Boomerangs pull 5.2 G's so it's not like it's unsafe and never done before (there's how many Boomerangs made? 50? I'm not even sure of any accidents on Boomerangs, anyway.) Besides, I never build coasters with G's higher than +5.3, -1.7, and laterals of +/- 1.8. Anyway, here is my upload. Loco, you are next. turn_4_Tanks4me05.nltrack

Game: When was the last time you...
Tanks4me05 replied to onewheeled999's topic in Random, Random, Random
To be honest, never really. But there were plenty of times that I got strange looks after I said something, but I can't remember them... When was the last time you had a Root Beer Float? (Not a Beer Float, Derek.) -
Ok, when I try to finalize my Sylvan Beach Video on to DVD (I have over a dozen others that I will eventually upload here in a few weeks that I filmed this year) the program gets the "(Not Responding)" disclaimer thing at the top of the window, and it doesn't even quit after the Ctrl Alt Delete combination (Windows Task Manager doesn't even open) and the only way for my computer to normally function is to restart it. Usually this happens about half a dozen times in a row, which takes up about 45 minutes. Now I have been doing the same thing for three days and nothing happens. I try even putting my empty DVD into the D drive instead of the J drive where my DVD Burner is, and that didn't work. Turning on the DVD Burner and inserting the DVD before I access Ulead avoids this problem a little over half the time, but this time it didn't work. I'm not willing to spend another $100 - $200+ on another program/system, and I don't want to potentially spend another year trying to learn all the shortcuts to get around to actually making a good DVD due to crap instructions. PLEASE HELP!!!

SFNE's SROS is a lot better than DL's version, but DL's version is still a VERY good ride (DL RoS - 8.5/10 SFNE SROS - 10/10) DL's version still has great airtime, in fact, about as good as SFNE's, but SFNE has more of it (more hills) and is more forceful. DL's helices are very large, but they still produce some strong forces, enough to start a gray out on some occasions. You should try to head out for NY, DL has good rides despite the constant wave of crap people call it. Viper is smooth and forceful, Boomerang is smooth and insane (once you realize that Boomerangs pull 5.2 G's you start to appreciate them more.) Mind Eraser is painful, but still smooth enough for re rides. Even Predator is fun, just remember: SECOND CAR, FIRST ROW, BLACK TRAIN! If you don't sit there, you will be sorry. MFI has Silver Comet, which is a very good wooden coaster, Seabreeze has that nice family atmosphere, a fun spinning coaster and one of the oldest coasters on the planet (turned 87 this year) and Sylvan Beach is a tiny amusement park, but it has a classic feel of the 1940's - 1960's. They just got a Rotor that only has a couple of weeks until its open, and they have a lot of OLD rides. TGE is a nice family park, and their Boomerang is great with the amazing scenery of the Adirondack Mountains (also very smooth) and their Comet is freaking unbelievable! So, yeah, there are a good five parks in NY that are definitely worth a visit IMO.

Tanks4me05 replied to coastb2's topic in Roller Coaster Games, Models, and Other Randomness
Hmm, unless you have brakes along the vertical drop, you are probably going to pull about 7 or more G's on that drop, and I personally think you should do more with that layout. -
Seabreeze TR- No photos, sorry!
Tanks4me05 replied to panda367's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Good TR. Yeah, I agree, Seabreeze is a fun park. (Sylvan Beach is way better. ) The only problem I have is that you skipped almost all of the good flat rides in the park... -

^Dude, that looks awesome! I want one of those! ^^I think that looks way too small to be an MP5. I think it's an MP5K. Anyway, I have a couple other ones. The G11 http://www.waffenhq.de/infanterie/g11full.jpg I believe it was one of the first weapons made with caseless ammo, and it has a rate of fire of about 2,100 for its three round burst, but in full auto, it's only about 400 rpm. But it is still AWESOME looking. The Metal Storm http://www.tonyrogers.com/images/weapons/metalstorm/metal_storm.jpg It can fire 1,000,000 rounds in a minute. Yes, I said that correctly, 1 MILLION.
