  1. I applied today and filled out the survey. I "passed" that and have an interview coming up that I need to schedule, but I am feeling optimistic... not sure why... maybe I am just naturally positive but I am VERY excited. Good luck to all applicants! FLORIDA HERE I COME!!!!! Edit: Anyone have any advice for me? I have literally always dreamed about living in Orlando and working for Disney has always sort of been a dream of mine. I have always said I wanted to do the College Program and I am one step closer so if anyone can tell me ANYTHING AT ALL to help me out I would be VERY grateful! Edit 2: Phone interview next Wednesday at 8pm! I am generally pretty good at interviews, but this one has the highest "stakes." Not getting the position would not make life any worse, but getting the position would make life much better. Wish me luck and good luck to all applicants. I will be keeping this thread up to date with each "step" to going to Orlando!
  2. I have been to all the US Disney parks. I don't necessarily want to post in the poll because I have not been to all of them. #1. Disneyland: My favorite theme park in the world. I have reached fanboy status and there are few things I don't love about Disneyland. I also go about 55 times a year. #2. Epcot: This is by far my favorite of the Florida (Disney) parks. The food is the best in the world, quite a few of the attractions are very unique and the creativity of this park exceeds most any other. It really does feel like the perfect combination of museum and theme park and it really is done brilliantly. If I wasn't a Socal Local than this would maybe be my favorite... but I LOVE this place. #3. The Studios: Technically I like DAK better in terms of a theme park but this gets third because of ToT. The second best attraction I have ever ridden after Spidey and the best Disney attraction in the United States. The best drop ride in the world as well as being far superior to any other version. RnR is great as well as was lunch at the Brown Derby. Fantasmic here is lacking when compared to the West Coast Veesion. #4. Animal Kingdom: This park would be my #1 if there was more to do probably. It's just so beautiful and so well themed and it really does feel like you are in the Jungle. EE is tied for my favorite coaster at WDW and is VERY well themed and well done as is pretty much everything besides Dino-rama but there is not quite enough to do for this to be up there. #5. Magic Kingdom: I like the castle... that's the only thing better than Disneyland. In fact this park is Disney minus two of my favorite attractions... The Matterhorn and Indy. They also have a horrible representation of pirates(the que was nice though) and even though there mansion was cool I would say it only(maybe) slightly edges out the Disneyland version. I don't like this park very much. Also for my visit space mountain was closed so there was VERY little to do.
  3. I am a Disneyland fanboy totally... I don't even like the MK and think Disneyland is far superior(even though this expansion looks amazing) and even I know this fits in PERFECTLY! Here is the thing... the only thing this drink has to do with beer is that it has white foam on the top... similar to the beer in the movie so it makes PERFECT sense to feature in a bar themed restaurant where in the movie the beer was VERY foamy. Floridians... you guys are in for a treat! I have never been to WWOHP as it opened the Summer after my last trip to Orlando but this drink tastes GREAT! Good to see it showing up other places!
  4. Hmm... both B&M(hypers so far but a gigga is possible) and Dive Machines have featured splashdowns in the past. I am fairly confident it will be a major attraction with Carsland as well as the recent addition of Carsland at Disneyland. Raffi told us that Carsland would bring an attendance boost, and while that may be true during the Summer the attendance will drop when it is "local time" back at DLR and the locals going to Carsland have already been to Knott's... therefore it makes sense that Knott's will get something new. I personally see a dive machine VERY likely because besides X(which of course looks totally different) we don't have any traditional(non launched) vertical drops in Southern California and I could imagine them advertising that aspect highly whereas I feel that unless Knott's gets a monstrous coaster people will see it as smaller Goliath. My gut has always told me Socal will get a Eurofighter because we have nothing that goes beyond 90 degrees vertically and to me that seems like a major selling point because there is nothing like that anywhere around Socal... but by the same token a Eurofighter doesn't seem to make sense with the splashdown.
  5. I don't listen to a lot of straight up punk... in fact for the most part I listen to variants of punk, but this may help you out... If your at all into ska punk Streetlight Manifesto is an absolutely amazing band. I am a huge fan of the Potato Pirates and The Havenots... again a little on the ska side(no horn here though) but both bands are totally awesome including the Havenots album(Brave) being an editor of Dying Scenes top albums of the year. Another band that possibly is here is Bomb the Music Industry(who recently broke up but also provide free downloads to all of their albums besides splits) is a DYI band with hints of synth, ska and hardcore... but they are punk. Folk will bring Larry and His Flask, in my opinion the best live band... period. What these guys do is play an entirely acoustic punk song which combines a hige variety of instruments from everything to the stand up bass, trombones, banjos, and acoustic guitars. They also were voted as the best live band at warped tour 2011. Frank Turner is also totally awesome. For "traditional" punk rock Joyce Manor is totally amazing and very new to the scene even though I am not 100% sure you would call them straight punk... bit it isn't quite pop punk. In terms of hardcore my favorite band right now is probably Such Gold or Title Fight... both bands are totally amazing. I also recommend the Story so Far who are for the most part a pop punk band but they have some brilliant sounds there and are probably the best pop punk in my opinion... along with maybe The Swellers. EDIT: I am a huge supporter of independent bands that are not likely to get big because they either aren't playing what people are into or whatever other reason there may be. As we all know the radio plays a VERY small amount of artists in proportion the the millions of bands out there... and (rock) bands themselves are even beginning to fade into obscurity(a bit of an exaggeration but my honest opinion) as hipster indie, dubstep, and other popular music fill it's place in radio stations. THIS CANNOT HAPPEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Therefore as a supporter of these bands and a spreader of the spirit of giving away free music(or as I call it the spirit of punk rock) I will randomly post band camps(which bands use as pages for streaming music) or whatever other free(LEGAL!!!) streaming services bands use to this thread. Everything I post will be 100% free(and legal( at the time of the posting and will possibly(likely) be free forever. I will try to spread genres a bit but my primary likes are punk and ska with possibly a bit of alternative or even metal thrown in for good taste. If you took the time to read this post support local music and (but not or) if you know of a band that offers free music online this would be a cool place to put it. TONIGHT'S CHOICE IS: Joyce Manor! Album:Of All Things I will soon grow tired Genre: Pop punk/indie/punk ALBUM STREAM(completely legal... I SWEAR)-----> http://www.punknews.org/bands/joycemanor
  6. Admittedly I am a Disneyland fanboy... I don't even like MK as a park and Fantasyland was one of the reasons why because it used to look kind of like a lame county fair. After all of these updates it now looks absolutely amazing in every way and Enchanted Tales looks perfect for what Disney is looking for, a truly magical, interactive and innovative way for people to interact with their favorite characters. I hope some of this gets added soon to the West Coast because even if we get nothing of this scale it would be cool to see something like this in Mickey's and Minnie's respective houses in Toontown. This looks amazing!
  7. When it was discovered that Prince Charles of the Greyback Royal Family was romantically involved with Lady Katherine of the Hartwith clan he was taken to the Kings trusted friend Francis Greyhair, a warlock, to create a spell that would make the prince forget he had ever loved Lady Katherine. Unbeknownst to the King however Greyhair wanted to kill the King so he would rule the Kingdom because he felt that despite their friendship the king viewed him as a freak for being a warlock. Instead of an anti love potion Greyhair gave the Prince a cursed tonic which turned him into a winged beast made from stone who would do Greyhair's bidding. The spell was too strong, however, and instead of doing Greyhair's bidding the winged beast flew into the night and destroyed the Kindgdom and all of it's inhabitants. Today the best still inhabits the Kingdom destroying all who enter. Do you have the courage to take on the mighty Gargoyle? Gargoyle: A new roller coaster opening at Cloverdale Gardens! SCR55.BMP GARGOYLE! In all it's glory! SCR53.BMP Very much a WIP SCR54.BMP Once again very much a WIP! Trying to establish an atmosphere of a medieval setting.
  8. The first TCM maze was the scariest maze ever done at HHN and from some people I know who have visited both events almost every year this is in their top 5 houses for both this and Orlando's event. VERY excited for this year and this house!
  9. Congratulations Colin! Very cool!
  10. Here is a little sneak peak of Cloverdale Gardens, a new park coming to San Diego! SCR45.BMP Entry area 1 SCR46.BMP Entry Area 2
  11. Fear not fellow HHN nerds. According to John Murdy's twitter there will be special costumes and props designed to go with the feel of the house for the dubstep theme. I HATE Dubstep, but from what I hear it means strobes and lasers... which are always cool and work well in mazes. I also hear from a friend that has been a scareactor at hhn since 2007 that this is so far expected to be the best HoH overlay... I am not entirely sure what he was talking about, but he said that this maze should be pretty awesome and he has never showed any optimism for a HoH overlay the entire time he has been working there. I am excited!
  12. Not gonna lie... WAY cooler than I EVER thought a float could be. Layout wise I wonder if it inspired Blue Streak, the famous back yard rollercoaster. The layout is virtually the same if I remember. This is a random question I am not really expecting to be answered, but does anyone know the dimensions of the float itself? Anyway I would love to ride that thing for the entire parade! VERY COOL FIND!
  13. Awesome pictures. I learned my lesson about TPR Bohemian Rhapsody at WCB though... NEVER EVER go against Cliff. I was standing next to him and he won by a landslide... and I ###### up the lyrics somehow even though I have heard it a billion times. I agree with everyone though, a TPR event is a must!
  14. The best thing I have ever seen! Its like New Orleans Square, DCA and the Studios had a beautiful child!
  15. Shock Top. Generic, but not bad at all. I still like PBR though because I am young and broke... yes I realize it sucks, but I can drink like three big blues(the big one) and because I am a lightweight I get a nice buzz going. ^^^ Also a lot of ska kids(I am one) drinks it because it is the beer of choice for a band called Big D and the Kids Table, who are also super broke.
  16. ^ Looks nice! SCR39.BMP Super Duper WIP! But the grand carousel as well as riverview square. This is so far the closest to complketion in design. I'm about 50% done with the entire project.
  17. Amazing! How did I miss this. I love Disneyland more than almost anywhere on Earth... to the point where I literally refer to it as my second home. These are some amazing pictures!
  18. Sorry guys... been a bit busy recently so this is literally a one picture update... but she's a beauty. I will get more soon though I promise! SCR36.BMP Riverview Square. There will be more foliage and building work, but the area is about 80 to 85% complete!
  19. I really enjoyed this trip report! Some very nice reading and interesting perspectives as well as some very nice photography! Nice job!
  20. I need "advice" cause apparently I drink bad beer... but I just started. Keep in mind I am a broke college kid with very little money, but so far my favorite beer is Pabst Blue Ribbon. Very generic and everything... but I got one cause everyone at the rock club I was at last night was drinking them... including the bands. I have also had some Indian Pale Ale which apparently is pretty good stuff, but I didn't like it... too strong. What should I try? I like "bitch" drinks quite a bit cause for the most part because I don't like beer(except for maybe Pabst so far) particularly as opposed to drinks like rum and pineapple juice or a margarita. Is there some beer anyone can recommend that I may like based on my taste of cheap beer?
  21. I saw a bunch of local bands last night. I saw The Combos, my friends band Hooray 4 Our Side, The Bohunks, and The Skank Agents... one of the best local ska bands around. It was awesome and was only 5$ with a bunch of rude boys/girls having an awesome time. Tonight though SUMMER OF SKA 2012 with The Maxies, Suburban Legends, Big D and the Kids Table(HELL YEAH) and Reel Big Fish(hell yeah) so it should be fun. It is also the first concert I can legally drink at, which is awesome. I had a single beer last night when the show started cause I had to drive, but tonight I am going to get some fun stuff!
  22. I love the building to the right hand side, not the one to the left so much, the arch looks odd and personally I don't really like the looks of the roof combo in terms of colors... I just don't think the two browns match too well. It also looks odd when next to the other building cause it's so small in comparison. The building to the right, however, is perfect. Simple and elegant... nice work. The other building has potential though, just needs a bit of retooling in my opinion.
  23. Heres the thing about this "war" of games. RCT2 is more realistic in my opinion because you can make good/very clean parks that are realistic and add some beautiful detail with in game scenery. For RCT3 to look realistic CS is pretty much necessary.
  24. I love it! Welcome to TPRs NCSO club!
  25. Update time. Most of the update is from Riverview Square, but there is a bit of an update for Lynx's station. SCR34.BMP Foliage has start4ed to be added... I want the area to look a bit overgrown like a wild forest area. The dirt area will have more large trees and bushes, but the idea for the park is a small theme park built near a large lush forest. SCR33.BMP Same as last update, but with a building removed and some flowers added. SCR32.BMP I am VERY proud of this building. This is the entryway to Riverview Square. SCR31.BMP Not too much to Riverview Motorcars... the idea of the ride is to showcase the river beauty more than to be a major attraction, but this also shows off the Grand Carousels Building.
