So I pretty much second the second part of what Wes said... that is a VERY happy medium because the reason I don't play RCT3 is because of the awkward transitions, but NL can be so tedious. If this has been asked(or answered) then I apologize, but one of my favorite parts of RCT2/3 are the customization of themes, like the ability to make unique buildings and to add details here and there to make it feel like a theme park, that is a HUGE plus for me in simulation games. Also as other people have said a variety of rides/attractions, but it seems that you have that down. Honestly if this is a project supported by TPR and made by people that actually care about the coaster/theme park community(and I assume the developers enjoy coasters/theme parks themselves) I can see this as a "rebirth" of the theme park simulation genre. I can honestly 100% say without a single doubt in my mind that RCT2 is my favorite game and I often wish RCT3 would have been a little more realistic, because then I would enjoy it more and this seems like a perfect blending of the two games. I am VERY excited about this project and I can promise if this plays as well as it looks you will have several happy gamers in no time at all! Lol... why? Games are a fun part(one of my favorite parts, actually) of the coaster community!

Ghost Gardens: San Diego [RCT2]
the ghost replied to the ghost's topic in Roller Coaster Games, Models, and Other Randomness
Time for a little progree shot, but a full update should follow in a day or two when I am done with this, but I figure that as I want to "be taken seriously" I would like people to offer criticism to my architecture if they have any to share. Here is one of my favorite things I have recently created. SCR116.BMP Sasquatch: A wild wooden coaster through the woods received it's facade today. Park management said that it fits a similar theme and color pattern as several other attractions in the Sequoia Canyon area of the theme park. -
Why do you love TPR?
the ghost replied to ambe_bambe's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I like TPR for a TON of reasons. I guess the main reason is the awesome group of people that inhabit TPR but another thing that is a huge plus is that we all have a shared interest of the same thing, which is pretty much having a good time at theme parks. I've also always been interested in everything from theme parks to Disney, which made going on the virtually all Disney forums difficult because I didn't "speak Disney" and although I love Disney it's far from my only interest in the industry. I can also say that although I do post on a few other sites(mostly Disney related) this is the only site I post to on a regular basis and what I would consider my favorite forum and by far the one I am the most active in posting. I love TPR for the great team, from the mods who check every nook and cranny of the site for spam and keep everything readable to Robb and Elissa who organize what are in my opinion the greatest theme park events/trips in the entire world, and from just the few events I have been to the people have been so awesome that I have promised myself when I am able to afford it I will join a trip in a few years down the road. On a slightly more personal note I would like to thank the TPR gaming community, who have really helped me step up my RCT2 playing abilities... I love so much that we still have so many people playing a game that over 10 years old, and I love that we probably have the biggest single gaming community in the world for RCT/NE as a whole. Lastly on a very personal level I am not the most outgoing guy in the world... in fact I am quite shy in person and it sort of terrifies me to talk to new people... no idea why, but that happens sometimes. Being part of a forum allows me to interact with hundreds of people, often different countries and even continents, but it also gives me the ability to eventually hang out with these people at person and go to parks for TPR events where I have honestly made some awesome friends! I am sure there are several other specific reasons, but I love and appreciate the entire TPR team! -
Streetlight Manifesto two days ago at the Yost! Great show on par with the others, although the first time I saw them will always be my favorite. Next up is The Aquabats next Thursday!

Andy Shine's Quiz Time

10/20- A little disappointing considering I usually do fairly well on these. Oh well... -
So as someone who has felt(and often feels) this way fairly frequently here is some advice. Now of course in any "emotional context" it's easier said than done, but this is the best advice I can give for your situation. When I get mad at my parents I lock myself in the room and call my friends and sort of rant. I know this sounds annoying so don't do it every day or anything, but friends are sort of magical and can do something that no one else can do... they can cheer you up in ways no one else can and or will let you rant to them because at some point they will rant to you. Here's one thing I remember that helps me out, but it might be awkward to type as it was more of a mental realization. Your parents suck, your friends parents suck, your parents' parents suck, and at some point(assuming you have children) you will suck as a parent... at least in the eyes of your child/children. Everyone has hated their parents at some point in their life but most people don't hate their parents. In other words you are in a rough patch, but if the dog is safe and makes you happy your mom is just threatening you because she is stressed and does not truly want to make you suffer... it's hard to realize this when you are a teenager but it makes more sense when you get older... I know that's a copout but it's true, and that's from someone who used to hate their parents. My rant: My school essentially canceled my debate team for next year and I am FURIOUS! Debate is sort of like a sport... it takes a lot of hard work and preparation to even get to competition level. In community college my school had an award winning debate team and I could finally see the hard work pay off, then I went to Cal State University Fullerton and while the team isn't quite as "acclaimed" as my old school(in american parlimentary debate... not for policy which CSUF is known for) we still had a competition team. Well we now found out that my teams funding is going to the policy(and entirely different style of debate) because they are better than we are and because some money had to unfortunately go to some debaters trapped in Boston during Sandy. I understand the logic and reasoning behind this... they are a bigger and better team but it's horrible because I feel like all the work I have put in to learning American Parli is being flushed down the drain, and policy is entirely different and requires entirely different techniques. It's not really anyones fault but that does not really stop my frustration.

Well I'm in a bittersweet mood right now, so right after this I will be posting to the rant thread. The good though is pretty good right now. This girl I like hasn't been returning texts and I got sad that she wasn't but today she texted me apologizing her phone broke... still just friends right now but hopefully that changes in the not too distant future. The BETTER NEWS though is that it is my friends 22nd birthday on Friday with an open bar, a keg, and a bunch of hot girls so maybe I will get a girlfriend... who knows. While I do like the other girl we would be in a long distance relationship and I get the impression she would rather be friends than in a relationship so if something works out at the party it's probably meant to be because having a long distance relationship in college can be difficult. THE BEST NEWS is that my favorite band IN THE WORLD Streetlight Manifesto is playing in a nearby town on Sunday. This news is a little better because originally I had a tournament for speech and debate and would have been unable to go but it got canceled so I bought my ticket today! Not a bad day, but to the rant thread!

Ghost Gardens: San Diego [RCT2]

Stupid Moves that Parks have made
the ghost replied to tribar's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^ Even though I know what your saying that was a pretty smart move. I forgot to say this last time but it's a stupid move that SFMM opened Green Lantern but doesn't run it properly. The "concept video" shows like... 4 or 5 separate inversions and full flips, but that's just not the case on the actual ride, which is uncomfortable and 100$ the parks fault because that's not the way Intamin built it to run. Another sort of stupid move is IMO Full Throttle just because I don't like or understand the ride... it has a random(pointless) backwards launch which destroys the pacing and capacity, and worst of all the entire ride is based on a huge gimmick cause it's the worlds tallest loop. It may be a success with the GP and maybe is not a dumb move, but it seems like just another gimmick. -
So as some of you have probably seen I occasionally post snippets of parks here and there... usually very small projects. Well I recently got inspired playing Gravity Gardens... the other Ghost Gardens(which will hopefully be updated fairly soon) and I suddenly felt inspired to play again. Now before I get started I would like to thank the emerging RCT2 community(especially the ncso builders) for being awesome and inspiring... while I can appreciate that TPR is a place for all skills I am happy to see player from NE and other forums come and build awesome stuff! You all rock! Now: Recently after expansions in both Lego Land with the debut of new attractions as well as a fairly new waterpark along with Sea World with their debut of the Manta Roller Coaster as well as a new Aquatica Water Park San Diego has recently become prime theme park real estate. The mayor was quoted as saying "I really was a b**** before... it's silly to impose on theme parks in areas that are generally not residential" and when that statement was made all the major park chains wanted to build, but I got there first. My name is CJ Morton and I am the leader of Ghost Entertainments... bringing the best in theme park entertainment all over the world. After the successful purchase and re imagining of Gravity Gardens many have been on the look out to work with Ghost Entertainments... and San Diego seems like just the right place to do it! I think sometime within the next day or two I can get a sneak peak of the newest attraction being built... of course I know what it is, but where would the fun be in that? I will give two hints... it's in Sequoia Canyon and riders may need a change of clothes after riding. Hope you have fun following construction of Ghost Gardens... and to the people of San Diego I hope you are ready for something spectacular! CJ Morton(Ghost entertainments CEO) SCR105.BMP Venice Boardwalk: This area offers a variety of pierside shopping and dinning opportunities. Also to fit the theme of Venice Beach it is the first theme park to have a legal dispensary... where you can often find me, the owner. SCR106.BMP Of course we can't all relax all of the time... this was clear when the guys from Vekoma were installing this custom roller skater... Sunburst. The attraction even uses terrain elements such as the water and even features man made elements. SCR107.BMP Here you can see the construction area for another small flat ride as well as a gift shop and cafe. To the right you can also see the Pierside Carousel which will soon be completed. The design is based on the aesthetics and charm of an old school carousel. SCR110.BMP Of course there's also Sequoia Canyon. Here is the small Evergreen Mall which is mostly a gift shop... but for what I wonder? SCR103.BMP Here's for what! A TGG hybrid coaster considered by many to be one of the best, in fact the enthusiast community has given the Gravity Group praise for a fun wooden coaster without the fancy bells and whistles of a lot of the modern wooden coasters. SCR108.BMP Many people believe a small water based attraction will be built here, possibly similar to Hershey's Boasrdwalk Section... a small water park perhaps? I can't be sure... Time will tell.

Ghost Gardens (RCT2)
the ghost replied to the ghost's topic in Roller Coaster Games, Models, and Other Randomness
Sadly this is being put on the backburner a bit because the park is so annoying to landscape. There is also another reason that I hope to debut in the next day or two... let's just say I got inspired! This will return, just won't be was often as I would like and I haven't posted an update because so far landscaping(and my other project coming VERY SOON!) have been the most important things so far and landscaping is a boring update and the other project isn't quite ready to be posted yet... -
The RCT/RCT2 Preview Thread
the ghost replied to mcjaco's topic in Roller Coaster Games, Models, and Other Randomness
I just made a few buildings here but this is for a full sized park. The idea here is we see "California" in California Adventure, but that's not the real California... it's a little too "nice" and a little too positive" so let the ghost(me) show you the realities of California while building my dream version of DCA! SCR96.BMP Here we have part of planet Venice! Venice Island based on Venice Beach... one of my favorite places on earth. To the left we have the relatively small ""Energies" a shop that sells things such as dream catchers, natural healing and tie dye. To the right we have The Happy Shop... it sells bongs. Then lastly we have the awesome 420 ganja paradise aka the first ever dispensary built inside a theme park, because what Venice Beach area would be complete without reeking of weed? Also if this were real that is where you would find the ghost! -

^ I kinda love you right now! Disney parks=Awesome! RCT2=Awesome and my user name is a reference to the haunted mansion sort of... Ghost 1000! So in other words there is too much win in that screen for me to post anything more constructive! -
So I haven't been inspired by anything for a bit, but I am having some fun with this one. Tell me what you think. SCR82.BMP The entrance to the parks signature wooden coaster The Timber Tornado, it is a coaster built by The Gravity Group. SCR84.BMP I love this layout. Yes, this shot will be foliaged and everything... just not yet. SCR81.BMP Another shot of the entrance to the ride.

Kenahi Springs [RCT2]
the ghost replied to kevarchitect's topic in Roller Coaster Games, Models, and Other Randomness
This may honestly be my favorite park I have EVER seen posted on TPR! It looks amazing and I am very inspired by this style of building and overall look of the park! -
I better see some people from the great state of Colorado posting here in the next few hours! Congratulations guys even though I can't say I am not a little jealous. Oh well, I toast my lighter to you and to the idea of having it become legal in California... even though it is already sort of legal in California. Also congratulations to Obama... I would have preferred Gary Johnson, but out of the "big two" I would prefer Obama over Romney any day.

No! It is one 100% the mothers fault in this scenario and the fact that you can't see that is a horrible thing. The mother placed her child on a railing in an exhibit full of WILD DOGS, a carnivorous animal. There were signs and notifications warning the mother and she did it anyway and deserves full blame here. Where is the line for common sense to take over... common sense is very important and for you to not acknowledge her blame means you lack this common sense. The lady will sue the zoo and will likely win despite the fact that the zoo did nothing wrong, and that aspect sickens me. Her child died a HORRIBLE VIOLENT DEATH due to complete and total negligence and stupidity, and that's a horrible thing!

So it's the night before Halloween! I am going to be on a college campus and it is apparently free Locos Tacos(Doritos tacos) day and knowing my usual party state of mind I will probably want one! I also am going to drink and carve pumpkins with my sisters... seems like a sketch combo but I won't have too much... I swear! I have been getting over someone recently and it has gotten me down for the last few weeks but I finally feel "good" and I am ready to party my ass off for my first major college "party holiday."

Favorite "themed lands"?
the ghost replied to Bryce's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
All of animal kingdom BESIDES DONO RAMA! It is not my favorite theme park but it is probably the most beautiful park I have ever visited because the whole park felt like I was transported to Africa or Asia! I also love World Showcase at EPCOT and Port of Entry for the Uni Florida parks. I REALLY like Mainstreet(the original) for so many reasons! If it weren't for my favorite themed land(mentioned below) it would easily be my favorite! My favorite themed land of any park that I have visited is Carsland! The rockwork is stunning, RSR is BEAUTIFUL at blending in with it's land as well as using the area around the que and the little details(especially the cars flowers) take the cake as the best themed land I have evere experienced! -
Types of theme park fan
the ghost replied to Hexeffects's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I can't really classify myself except by saying I fit into all three. For example if I am going to Six Flags(magic mountain being my home park... but this statement applies to any in the chain) then I am usually going for coasters but I appreciate a nice looking park. That being said Disneyland is my favorite park in the world because I enjoy nearly all the rides at the entire resort and sometimes have days where I just ride coasters and sometimes have days where I just ride dark rides and everything in between. I feel like most people appreciate all three around here because part of the reason I joined was because TPR wasn't a straight coaster site. Now if a park like Disneyland(but Disneyland never will/should do this!) opened with an amazing park, amazing coasters and flats, and a cool dark ride or two I may give it higher preferences. For example I don't really like Six Flags, but some of my top 10 coasters are there So I overlook the fact that it is not a well run theme park because there are rides there that I like so I go even though I don't like the park as a whole. If it were a well run park with nice theming and were run in a better way I would frequent the park more often. Like Larry said though my favorite things about amusement parks(once again mostly DL in this case since many of my friends are passholders) is that we can all hang out because most everyone has something they like about theme parks. Like it is awesome to be able to "hang out" at a theme park and just have fun with people coasters or not. Some of us are a little more "hardcore" than the average guest... like my gp friends would probably not enjoy the way I marathon rides at WCB, but if I want a "average" day at the parks there is nothing in the world better than just having fun with friends getting food/drinks together, talking in line, and riding things together. -
Ocean Kingdom in China
the ghost replied to Gutterflower's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^ I think your right... it looked twisted to me earlier but now for some reason it doesn't. Maybe the pov is accurate after all. Regardless this is going to be interesting... especially the bit of the pov where it goes under the bridge and the way it interacts with the water. -
Ocean Kingdom in China
the ghost replied to Gutterflower's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Looks cool but the No Limits model is already off because this looks like it's going to have the "inverted drop" which is why I never listen to "non park" media. I am sort of surprised by the success of wing coasters in general though... I mean do they really bring new stuff to the table? I pretty much see it as a floorless coaster with a different train design... but B&M does have a good reputation so I guess whatever they build turns to gold(besides the standup) but regardless this seems like a cool project. Despite the fact that it is already off if there is any of that awesome terrain work seen in the pov this will be awesome, but by the same token the layout(from the pov) seems too drawn out to offer much in the force department. -
Wreck it Ralph AND The Man With The Iron Fists BOTH COME OUT NEXT WEEKEND!
