  1. ^I say bring back sky whirl The park is going to seem different with the changes going on, and the whole area from Hometown Square to American Eagle/Wiggles World will seem really dead. Hopefully the dive machine rumors are true because Great America could use a unique coaster, and hopefully it is a hyper coaster by more than 2/8 feet. As for Dark Knight, I expect it to be along the lines of Scooby Doo at WBMW. Of course while the layout is a clone, I expect it to have custom mechanics as you go through the various rooms.
  2. That looks incredible, and this will probably be the best water park in the world when it opens. The theming looks amazing, and with ride selection like it has, it looks like you'll need to spend the entire day to experience the park.
  3. Oh well, I got my ride on it...once. While I will miss this ride, I don't care that it is being removed.(sounds like a paradox) The line was always really long, and the capacity was horrendous. However, it is at my home park, and it is the only ride that scares me after I've ridden it. If I knew it was leaving, I would have tried to get more rides in. Hopefully the dive machine rumor is true, because that would be an excellent replacement, and it would really put SFGAM on the map.
  4. I don't see why so much crap is given to this park by enthusiasts. Sure it is nowhere near SFGAM in terms of coasters/thrill rides, but it still looks really nice. Discovery Kingdom seems to be the place to go for thrills(or water shows), but CGA seems to be a really family friendly park. Sure Stealth was removed, but business wise, a water park was a better choice. While I will admit that Paramount screwed the park, it doesn't seem to deserve what it is given. As for what is coming, I think it is great. Hopefully the top spin will have a good cycle-never mind, it's CF, who am I kidding-and with a GCI coming in 2009, then we could see this park regain a good thrill ride reputation.
  5. I don't know what you mean by quite a few, but I think there was one behind the shoot-the-chutes(or maybe the log flume). Maybe my imagination is playing tricks on me, but I'm pretty sure I saw one back there.
  6. The entrance reminds me of Vertigo... Wow, so far it looks very nice, and if that is how the entrance looks, then the rides should look just as amazing.
  7. While it used to be Viper, it is now Raging Bull. My last ride on Viper for the season showed just how far it has come from even last year. Maybe it was the cold, the roughness, the little airtime, and the slowness of the train, or the fact I rode all four B&M's after lunch before Viper. However, Viper is just not the same great ride it used to be, but hopefully it gets better by next May. Raging Bull has just gotten better with each ride.
  8. Raging Bull earlier today, and it ran great. Not a bad way to end the season
  9. ^I know 6 million is a lot for a park, but Disney is upset that it isn't pulling in numbers twice as high.
  10. Even though it was incredibly popular, Wiggle's World was probably a bad decision for Great America. The park already had two kiddie areas, and they could have just redone Looney Tunes National Park since that area is dead. The whole Orleans Place/Mardi Gras re-theme was another poor decision as they could have done a really nice job to re-theme it, but it came off really cheap looking. Hopefully the addition of the Dark Knight will mean the park will focus on that area of the park more. If Orleans Place looks like Southwest Territory in terms of theming, then it would be a huge improvement. Others: Disaster Transport Top Thrill Dragster Any Togo coaster(well in the U.S.) Thunderhawk-MA can become a nice park, but CF won't invest in it The whole Geauga Lake 2004-present Son of Beast(what has history taught us Paramount?) The Parthenon at Mt. Olympus X-cool concept, but poorly executed Deja vu-same Disney's California Adventure Hong Kong Disneyland-they built half a Disney park, and they wonder why attendance is only at 6 million
  11. Tessie - Dropkick Murphys
  12. Now I know the GP doesn't care about coasters, but come on: With V2 behind them, a teenage girl with her friend points at B:TR-"There's V2" The V2 sign(well the whole ride too) was right behind the too.
  13. Is it just me, or have a lot of UK parks been closing lately? Sad to see a park being demolished without the rides being relocated, and while I'm not a fan of many seaside parks(well Blackpool, Belmont, Santa Cruz, and the Pavilion are/were good), it's still sad to see a small family run park close.
  14. One word: Lawsuits Wait, another word: America Well actually, I think it was that, and also that the coaster would have torn itself apart if it wasn't re-profiled. I just don't get trims on hills on a steel coaster.
  15. I thought that they came from Intamin. I thought that Giovanola was the contractor, and that B&M broke off and formed a new company. I'm not sure how well themed this park is, but the coaster looks nice already, and with some theming, it can look really nice.
  16. My mistake, I didn't understand what he said. Actually, I think B&M was copied by Giovanola, and B&M destroied that company, so I doubt anyone will attempt it in the future. As for Golden Horse, I don't think it is a copy, but they are similar, but with just enough changes to avoid being sued...maybe not.
