Kennywood (KW) Discussion Thread
Airtime&Gravity replied to DenDen's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I see this as both good and bad: First, the bad: It's sad that another classic park is gone, and with that, the park risks losing its charm and instead becoming just another corporate park. On the other hand, this could be a very good thing for the park. With it being a corporate park, more capital can be spent on new rides, there could be new mascots,(why would they pick Garfield?) and the park could start to resemble a European park more than an American park. The same goes for the other parks in the chain that were bought. Airtime-Abismo at Lake Compounce-&Gravity -

Airtime&Gravity replied to HighExtreme's topic in Photo Trip Report Archive
Nice photos, and an amazing looking park that seems to make you forget your in a major city when visiting it. Hopefully I get to go there next year, as Tivoli is one of the parks I really want to go to sometime in my life. -

Magic Mountain Versus Great Adventure
Airtime&Gravity replied to aliston's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
SFGADV-an awesome park with a lot to do. The park has an odd layout, but once you figure it out, it doesn't take long to walk around. The coaster selection is second to none, and the flat selection is really good too.(just needs a drop tower) The park is clean, and the staff is some of the best I've seen. Plus you have the safari, a large water park, and some of the nicest themed area's of any SF park. -
Best Theme Park Food
Airtime&Gravity replied to ChrisZer0's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Best: SFGAM: When I decide to eat, I will eat at Johnny Rockets, Aunt Martha's, or Ma and Pa's Grub. Johnny Rockets has good chicken fingers and decent fries(they give you a lot), Aunt Martha's can have either really good or pretty bad chicken, but again, you get a lot of food. Ma and Paw's has decent beef and cheddar sandwiches, but nothing in the park is better than the funnel cake sundaes. SFSTL: Decent food, and it is a a lot cheaper than SFGAM. No park I've been to has had truly bad food though. -
Hanna Barbera Land Concept Art
Airtime&Gravity replied to CdnbMatt's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Wow, but perhaps a bit too ambitious for a Paramount park. The concept art looks amazing, but it just does not seem particle for the park it would go in, and it looks like something that would be in a Disney or Universal park. In fact, some of the attractions look similar to some rides Disney planned. -
save jack rabbit clementon park
Airtime&Gravity replied to coasterfreak48's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Well the park was just sold, or will be, so hopefully the new owners can make it less of a dump. I say tear it down, and while I love old rides, it, like Robb said, would be a waste of money to rebuild an eighty year old coaster that has been rotting away the past few years. -
Deja vu, Chang, Medusa, and Ninja all have good hang time, but Mr. Freeze has incredible hang time especially in reverse.

^The fact that it was the ride's fault and all the bad publicity are probably the reasons for the removal. This news story went on for several days, and while it was tragic, it got a lot more media attention than the average theme park death. I doubt anyone would ride it if it stayed open, and(I'm assuming most other drop towers were similar) because of this accident, Giant Drop was essentially a walk on the rest of the year.(more than usual)

Sad to hear that EK has died, and hopefully the park can make a tribute to him similar to what is done at Big Spin. I am really excited for the park to get this coaster, and it even has the chance to be one of the best wooden coasters in the country(didn't Thunderbird rank like 15 on Mitch's poll?), and it is a great addition for the park. If the rumors about Boss and Eagle getting re-tracked are true, then SFSTL is going to have one awesome wooden coaster selection. If Boss can be smooth and get Millennium Flyers, then it will be one great coaster.

^Exactly I saw this coming, and while it is a good drop ride, I doubt anyone would ride it at SFKK if it reopened. Hopefully this ride finds a new home as it is a lot of fun for its size, and now the chain can put the incident for the most part behind them. Does anyone know if SF is paying for the girl's medical bills?

Worst Coaster Experience
Airtime&Gravity replied to airforcekid's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
While I've ridden bad coasters, I've never had a truly bad experience. Sure I've ridden rough coasters, but I expected that, but I still had fun no matter how rough the ride was. I guess the worst would have been Disaster Transport when I waited 45 minutes to an hour and the ride was over as soon as it started. However, I still had a lot of fun for those few seconds. Another one could be my rides on Predator/Boomerang at Darien Lake, and even though I knew they would be rough, I decided to ride. Predator almost had airtime, but the roughness killed the ride. Boomerang, while rough, still wasn't a terrible experience as the reverse incline can provide a good thrill. -

Yes it is, but unless SF plans to totally refurbish it like SFNO's B:TR, I doubt it will open. -
The Rumor / Crazy Idea Superthread
Airtime&Gravity replied to Wes's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
After the two coasters back to back that SFSTL has gotten in 07 & 08 they don't need anything else for a while.SFKK & SFA are the two parks most in need of new rides in the chain right now. So just because a park got two coasters in two years means they won't get anything in year three? Let's see, new attractions bring in guests, and guests bring money, so it would make sense for the park to add a new attraction. I'm not saying it will be a coaster, but a new attraction for HH is probably likely as they haven't received anything since the Tornado in 05. -
Indiana Beach (IB) Discussion Thread
Airtime&Gravity replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I don't know what to think about this ride as if it is like the Screamin Squirrel then it won't be that good. However, it is unique, and if IB can have it interact with the rides around it, then maybe it will be better. However, I'm sure it will be popular with the GP, and that is what matters to the park. If done properly, then this could be kind of fun, but this by itself is not making me want to rush over to the park. -
Closeup Coaster Photography
Airtime&Gravity replied to TatsuTerror's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
They are nice photos, especially Rita, but catching a little more of the coaster would be nice. Don't get me wrong as they are artistic, but by themselves they are kind of boring. I have taken many close ups of track before, but usually when I do closeups, I try to make it interesting by getting a train or some other feature to make it interesting. See, close up, but you can see the facial expressions of riders. -
EDIT: 2 Water Parks for Ottawa.
Airtime&Gravity replied to canadianfreak's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
So this will be Proslide's version of Europa? I agree with Elissa that this could be really cool, and it will be a nice way to show off their new attractions. If they can give it a nice theme, then this could be a nice park. Just a question, did Proslide build Deluge? -
Underrated Parks
Airtime&Gravity replied to What Now's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
SFKK-nice clean park with decent rides and operations. Chang is such an awesome coaster, and it seems out of place in a "small" park like SFKK. SFSTL-My favorite SF park, until I visited SFGADV, and it is very clean, has great staff, a cool location, and some decent coasters. Hopefully I find time to visit it again next year as it will be even better with the Thunderbird clone. SFGADV-I heard that it was dirty, crowded, and had poor operations. Well, I got to the park at 7P.M. on a Friday night(allowing me two hours to ride since the park closes at 9), and in those two hours I got: two rides on ET, two on KK, one on Nitro, and one on Medusa. The longest wait was 15 minutes for my first ET ride, and everything else was either a one train wait or a walk on. The staff was great, the park was clean, crowds were obviously light(does everyone always leave at 7?), and it was a great two hours.
