Parc Asterix Discussion Thread

This looks amazing! Only 5 inversions, but it looks really intense, similar to Flight Deck. I'm really excited to see how this rides. -
Actually the image is of Chang. It's just mirrored and edited (Clear evidence is that the track threads the dive loop on Chang, not Mantis). And the layout up to the MCBR is only similar to Chang with the same basic mirrored layout. Lengths, heights, angles, and many other factors are different. Just sayin...

^^Well I've been on the gyro drop at KI, and the 2nd gen at CGA. I wholeheartedly prefer the Intamin Drop Towers. The drops produce massive amounts of airtime compared to the S&S, and I have been on 5 turbo drops. I don't know what exactly it is about the Intamin, maybe the cars are much heavier, and its an actual freefall compared to S&S controlled drops, but whatever it is, I think they are much more fun and thrilling.

I think a great spot to utilize would be the former site of the Eagle's Flight station. If they demo-ed then leveled this site, it could be built in this area. I think this would be perfect aesthetically, because it would be right in between SFMM's first 2 towers, and it would also be more thrilling at the top of the mountain. I'd guess that there's enough space here.

Well CP has a hyper (Magnum) and a Giga. Plus TTD and Wiked Twister which is also over 200'. And it's hard to say no other park park has both a mega and a Giga, considering there is only 2 Gigas that exist. Also, SFGAdv has Nitro and El Toro (which are both airtime-based coasters), plus they have KK. It just shows that you can have multiple airtime-based rides. I think a Giga would be a great addition. -

Well I'm hoping it's an Inta Giga. The world will be better with more of these in existence. -

That's a great layout, 5 airtime hills? Lots of ground-hugging turns? YES! I think this will be a great coaster. -
^Probably 1 side. I haven't seen them run both sides in a very long time. As for Deja Vu relocation, I just do not see it happening. At WCB, the management said that Magic Mountain has put a lot of effort into keeping it the best run GIB in the chain, and said the only reason why it hasn't been sold off is because Magic Mountain's mechanics have kept it in good shape. Hopefully, if anything, a retheme of Deja Vu will happen with the addition of a major flat ride in the open plot right next door. Maybe Cyclone bay can become like an "End of the World" type of area for 2012!

I visited this park about a month ago. It's a cool little park that my brother and I spent a few hours enjoying. Excalibur has some great airtime in the back on the first 2 drops, but there's a couple rough spots and the second half doesn't quite deliver as much, but it was a good ride. Outside of that, you have Astrosphere which is a normal Scrambler, but with insane lights, strobes, and music. Dragon's Decent is also a great S&S Turbo Drop, just like the one at Lake Compounce, but fun nonetheless. Overall, it's a fun little park to spend a few hours with some good rides. In addition to those rides, there is a mouse, and some good flats, and I'm sure you TPR will have fun. -
Perhaps these teen operators weren't taught or had knowledge of every rule about the coaster. They could have been hired new for the season and have had no experience with an amputee or a supervisor mentioning amputee rules. If this shows anything, maybe it's that all ride operators should read all pre-existing regulations and manuals. IMO, it's a pretty big rule to skip over.
