  1. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r9vJqPe6CSA&feature=player_embedded This POV Gravity Group filmed is very nice.
  2. ^Blue Fire is launched and it's considered a Mack Mega Coaster.
  3. Viper at Magic Mountain is super fun if you get the right seat with no head banging. Also Ghostrider is my favorite woodie and I have always enjoyed its roughness Flight of Fear is under-appreciated IMO. I really liked it.
  4. So would we consider Manta at SWSD a Mega light if Blue Fire is a mega?
  5. http://springhillcourier.wordpress.com/2011/05/03/202/ EDIT: This was just a satirical article
  6. This is so intricate with too many things to keep track of. ^That's a nice find, btw.
  7. I think the theming could work if they use some sort of transition theming or even transition the colors between yellow and green. They also need to somehow explain the color changes before the ride or something, so riders can understand.
  8. ^ CA Screamin'? Maverick? Japanese Eurofighter?
  9. Vertical construction of coaster track has started. This was posted on Canobie's Facebook. http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=2048814978857&set=o.18373183826&type=1&theater And on youtube:
  10. "I'm leaving the park now, less then a half hour ago I rode bizarro and after going down the first drop, on the way up the loop my shoulder restraint unlocked and moved halfway up. I didn't know what was going on I thought it was about to open up all the way on me. I know there are belts that hold it down but this was the scariest moment of my life. I told the ride operator about what happened and they all seemed to become freaked out and stopped the next train from being launched and closed row 5. I'm very upset about this and it will probably be a while before I'm back " -SFGAdv's Facebook.
  11. It looks like Green Lantern's loop is getting a color change. Multi-colored Green Lantern
  12. Is it possible to be dropped off at these Theme Parks without paying for parking? Any drop-off zones like the one at SFMM?
  13. The fastest way to NY would be through Ohio and some other Midwestern States. Depending on which way you go, I know there is: Worlds of Fun SFStl Holiday World King's Island Dollywood Waldameer Kennywood Or you cut cut across to the coast, then head north, and those are most of the parks that you have listed.
  14. I suppose there's a grain of truth to that. It's quite smooth and is mostly wood, except the tracks. How about "smoothest steel/wood hybrid" or "among the world's smoothest rides!" Here's the thing: SFOT needed some kind of superlative to market their ride, since most of the GP assumed that they were just retracking it. Even those who noticed the new track was different often needed some convincing that this was a new ride and not just the old one fixed. One way to garner that kind of attention is to attach the attention-grabbing adjectives to it, like "steepest" and "smoothest". How to do that, though, when it's not the anything-est in the world? Well, you modify the claim with limits, and since the GP (and the lemming reporters who regurgitated all the info SFOT gave them on media day) doesn't know any better, you say "steepest wood coaster", "most banking on a wood coaster", and "smoothest wood coaster." It's not much different than when a park advertises "fastest coaster in the southeast" or "tallest coaster in a state with a two-word name" or "steepest drop of any coaster with green track." The one difference here is that they left out the word "structured" -- as in "steepest wood STRUCTURED coaster". Aside from forums such as this, most folks won't even question it. That makes perfect sense to me. I don't think us enthusiasts should be so uptight about things like that. We know it's wrong, but it doesn't actually matter. What matters is that SFOT has made a worth-while investment for an awesome refurbished coaster. I love that Six Flags hasn't completely forgotten about their old coasters. This, Bizarro, X2, the Topper Track on Rattler and the woodies at SFNE, and S:EFK are all great ways to improve the existing parks coasters and re-market older coasters as new. It's all marketing, and I'm all for Six Flags being successful.
  15. ^^I agree. SFEK was a much needed improvement and I'm happy that it was made, but TTD still trumps it in my opinion.
  16. It's usually not a problem, but it depends on the ride ops that day.
  17. That looks awesome. It reminds me of the San Diego Zoo, sorta.
  18. Great update. I really want to get out to more Midwestern parks. Looks like you guys had fun.
  19. ^Ahhhhh, I see. Well I can always dream that they'll expand the area and re-theme Tidal Wave to Aquaman. That could be the largest DC area in the whole chain.
  20. ^ A major success indeed if the rumors hold true that Colossus will be getting this treatment now. Now that the test results are in and positive, looks like many other woodies can be improved also.
  21. ^RRE is right where Sierra Falls was in Thomas town, so it will fit perfectly over there.
  22. ^There is no arguing going on. To put into relative speeds, Pony Express is 38 mph, and that feels slow, while Mavericks is 70.
  23. I hope it's just the testing, but it's definitely crawling through that first turn. I doesn't look nearly as intense and quick as Maverick is, transition-wise in the track. It looks kinda drawn out almost. I hope I'm wrong, but I have a feeling this will be a "moderate thrill" on the scale of thrill.
