  1. This thing has a nice long layout! Great pacing and good order of elements too! Definitely makes this park more desirable for a Scandinavian trip!
  2. Good answer! You can tell by the way its nailed in there, that it couldn't handle much shear stress. I once read that these particular lateral bracing beams are more for alignment than load bearing.
  3. I thought the timing of the second passholder preview (May 22nd, 10:00am-1:30pm) seemed a bit suspicious, but that's really just conjecture. Perhaps it's to cut out time for media day? Actually, media day is on Wednesday, the day before the pass previews.
  4. Did you get this from the email? The only thing I got was the following week's ERTs.... He is gold season pass, you are regular season pass. Anybody hear when media day is?
  5. It's Media Day on May 20th. I got an invitation! Awesome congrats
  6. Yeah I just checked the website and it says it's down from yesterday until May 22. That's not nearly long enough for an extensive refurb. If an extensive refurb were happening for 2016, the coaster would have to close after summer for a while yeah? Why would they close it now? Scheduled maintenance?
  7. I'd love for an RMC conversion on GR, but if that is happening, it won't be until at least 2017. Is there any knowledge on when/if GhostRider is scheduled to go down for a refurb anytime soon? If so, we may be seeing something other than RMC. Honestly though, if they are going for a major refurb from somebody other than RMC, new trains NEED to be a part of it, because purely trackwork will not improve the coaster in the long-term. I somehow doubt the KBF is getting anything major in 2016.
  8. I'm not sure how all of you are classifying "Family Coasters," but to me, my favorite coaster that are designed for the whole family are White Lightnin' - Fun Spot and Manta - SWSD.
  9. It's awesome to know that they're expanding Egypt, which hasn't gotten anything new in a while. But what bums me out is that we won't hear an announcement of the coaster until March of next year (if BGW is any indicator...
  10. Are you kidding me?? The rocky structure surrounding the support? Is that what the track will be travelling through? This thing is going to be the most themed coaster of the decade at least!
  11. I'll start out by saying I have no problem with Skyrush, I305, Maverick, or Bizarro's restraints (I've read complaints about each). BUT the locking restraints on Wild Eagle pulled against my clavicle (collar) bones in such a way that I was completely uncomfortable and out of breath by the end of the ride. They locked down and tightened throughout the ride, and by the end, I can't focus on anything other than the awful restraints. I've heard that Cedar Point, Holiday World, and King's Island have opted for their B&M vest restraints not to lock, but I'm not sure about Dollywood. They sure as hell were locking when I rode in 2012.
  12. I love that Cedar Point is preserving their rides, making improvements to areas, etc. I love almost everything B&M has done except for the old stand up craze, I just think that gimmick is overrated (even after how much hate it gets anyway). The Mantis layout has that old school intensity which should be great with new, better trains! I'm also happy that they're putting comfort restraints on Maverick, as that's been one of the only complaints of the ride from enthusiasts. Way to go CP!
  13. I agree, the ride looks amazing. But even if it is the company's worst coaster (which it probably isn't), it will probably still be the best coaster in California and it will still be awesome. I haven't been on any RMC yet, but I agree with you guys. IMO, the layout of this coaster is a hell of a lot more interesting than Goliath... Or maybe I'm a sucker for airtime, and Goliath has like maybe 3-5 spots compared to TCs 18. I cannot say which RMC is the best, well no one can yet either, but I can't wait to find out!! I'm still certain that they have yet to make a ride outside of the top-15 in the world in each wood and steel categories. I'm beyond excited here, I was expecting it to go fast, but just watching that blue train FLY over those airtime hills was insane. I'm crossing my fingers that it stays that way... Anybody with doubts that this won't be the best coaster in California with surely be convinced by now, right?
  14. My last credit was El Loco last month, and it looks like my #287 will be Twisted Colossus in less than 4 weeks!
  15. No testing at the tour. They're only doing evening testing for the next few days after park hours.
  16. The picture shows the credit I suppose. Orange train clearing the blue lift!
  17. I would love a full refurb on GhostRider, but if it's RMC, then it won't be until at least 2017. I will cross my fingers though. I would also love an Air Race in Windseekers spot. If also love moving Wipeout to the spot of Boomerang, Riptide and the Skytower get removed for something better
  18. I know of a few manufacturers who would likely resent that statement The fact of the matter is that Timberliners have yet to successfully run on large-scale coasters as far as I know (Do any of the Chinese ones run Timberliners yet?) According to the overwhelming negative reviews of Hades360, they don't do much to help. I'm interested to see how the Tayto Park woodie fares once that opens. As much as I would LOVE for Gravity Group to keep these large woodies running well, they don't have a great track record for ageing rides (Hades, Voyage, Boardwalk Bullet...).
  19. Although I have never been on Voyage, it's sad to see it in the state it's in. IMO, Gravity Group has failed in maintaining the coaster. They were never able to get the Timberliners to work, and now because they are keeping the awful, clunky PTCs, the intensity of the coaster is compromised with the full brakes. I know HW has said that they've put more track work into the coaster this year than any other offseason (which is nice, BUT...), I almost wish they put that money towards a more permanent solution, like topper track and new trains... I just hope when I finally ride Voyage, it is running to its full potential. For nearly a decade, I've seen Voyage as possibly the most ridiculous coaster; an insane layout, incredibly long, relentless. I just want it to be all it can be, it could be #1 again... For the record, this is also very similar to how I feel about GhostRider, it's even further from perfect than Voyage.
  20. Here's the full orange train at the bottom of the lift. Testing should still be happening this morning, but it could be later today as well. Cross your fingers guys! Edit: photo credit - CoasterCrazy88
  21. Was the entire train there or just the first couple cars? When I visited last week the first two cars were at the base of the blue lift and the rest of the orange train (along with the blue and purple trains) was on the transfer. If it's just the first couple cars, they are likely doing a pull through (or something similar) so we're probably still several days (or more) from testing. If the entire train is indeed down there, then testing is likely to begin very soon (possibly even tomorrow). It's the whole train. First run was pushed back to tomorrow morning.
  22. Just wait. I'm guessing a little after the park closes at 6, so maybe 7?
  23. They might get a LOT more than new trains...
  24. Wicked Cyclone is going to run their first testing cycle tomorrow. Expect the same to happen at SFMM tomorrow as well!! Tomorrow will be a big day for RMC!
