There's a rumor flying around some Orlando forums about SeaWorld Orlando's next coaster. A few people are claiming a B&M Hyper or even Giga will be built back behind the Shark Encounter and near Kraken. They are saying little theming, mostly coaster. Layout was described as Fury 325 with less curves and more airtime hills. Personally, I think this would be a great move for SeaWorld. It would take some focus away from Blackfish and the Orcas and remind people that SeaWorld is a theme park! I'd certainly pay a return visit if this was built!

What is your favorite Roller Coaster?
chickenbowl replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
How can you say it is underrated if you didn't even know about it 2 minutes ago? Have you even ridden any of these major coasters that you've been talking about? Namely NTaG? -

Not Gwazi, those aren't Millennium Flyers. That's Coaster at Playland in BC, Canada. -
Both options are being considered. Option one is to just get Riptide back up and running. Option two is to remove Riptide and Boomerang and put something new in that space. Right now, the more likely option seems to be waiting for Iron Reef to open and then working on getting Riptide back up. God, I've been hoping for option 2 for years. Please let it happen, I wanna see a chance megalite right there!

Efteling Discussion Thread

Nor are Dragon Challenge, Hulk, or Fligh Of the Hippogriff. Only Disney has 100% themed coasters. I don't know, Nemesis and Black Mamba seem to be wholly themed as well. -
Apocalypse and Manta both have decent floater airtime, but neither of them will have ejector (outside of Apocalypse's first drop in the back row) like TC will. The two variations of airtime are pretty different in my opinion. GhostRider may be considered to have one or two spots of ejector airtime, as well as Xcelerator's top hat, full throttle's top hat, and going up the first hill on Superman Ultimate Flight at SFDK in the front row. But all of those are just single moments, and outside of those, I don't know of any other ejector airtime coasters in California.Twisted Colossus is supposed to have 18 moments of airtime, and I expect most of them to be ejector! So that's why this is going to be special for California.

Not with the drought that California's in! They literally don't have the water for grass. -
Are you kidding me with your comments? You cannot even get the name or spelling right. LMAO!!!! Wow, my wife who was actually becoming an active enthusiast stopped posting on here because she thought every was a jerk, and now I'm wondering why I even waste my time since people here seem to take the fun out of one of the most fun things imaginable. I live about as far from SFMM as possible while still being in the country, so I'm not exactly up and up on their new ride. I have visited SFMM over ten years ago and will likely not be there again, so it's pretty much an afterthought. I just make a comment where I mix up the name with the Cyclone (and yes, after working 13 hour days all week I got lazy and didn't spell the name right either) and it's ridiculous the level of superiority some have on this board. I've been commissioned as a writer and researcher, so next time I write a paper or prepare a presentation at a conference I'll make sure you proofread it since you must have a doctorate. My comments still stand: I think this is one of the least imaginative RMC's out there and think in ten years its likely to be an afterthought. I was interested in what RMC might do with a racing or dueling coaster, but the design didn't blow me away like their others have done. Although its apparent that SFMM didn't really operate Colossus as initially designed, I hate to see a coaster that was a prototypical classic racing coaster go extinct. I grew up with a picture of Colossus on my wall, and it to me defined what a wooden coaster should look like. Yeah alright dude, you're right, were the jerks. You're the one here being super negative about possibly the best coaster California has ever gotten. If you don't like it then have fun not riding this amazing coaster. How can you complain when you are literally the one taking the fun out of this discussion here?

From a picture I saw on instagram, the green track is complete and the framing is up for the blue zero-g. I wouldn't be surprised if the track work was completed tomorrow. I'm guessing the next week or two they'll finish the bracing and structure work and do the painting. If Wicked Cyclone will be able to open by memorial day (and they haven't completed track work yet) then I'm sure TC can!

Viewing park locations on a map?
chickenbowl replied to jarmor's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
http://www.coastermap.com/ has that feature. Coaster-count.com also has a nifty map feature that includes your ridden coasters. -
Highest Average Speed
chickenbowl replied to LuminousAphid's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
That is exactly what I wrote on the last page. EDIT: I may have accidentially flipped it, but yeah you are right. (length of track)/(Time it takes to traverse track) should give you average velocity. Quick calculation (From launch to stopped on brakes): Formula Rossa: 6562 ft/68 seconds = 96.5 ft/s =65.8 mph Kingda Ka: 3118 ft/42 seconds = 74.2 ft/s =50.6 mph Furius Baco: 2789 ft/32 seconds = 87.1 ft/s =59.3 mph My timing may have been off but here are some averages. -

Why not just time the coaster from beginning to end with a POV and divide by the total length of the track? It might not take into account station and transfer track lengths and stuff, but if you're looking for a very crude measurement, you'll get something. -
Phantasialand Discussion Thread
chickenbowl replied to roeterich's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
With the new scaffolding going up, all this wrapped up track makes more sense. Phantasialand will build extensive themed elements around the ride(as expected). Still no clue what happens there, no info from the Park, they keep it interesting. edit, picture courtesy of: phantafriends.de Holy crap! What is this layout?!?! There looks to be two turns near the ground and tunnels?? I cannot WAIT to see what Phantasialand has up their sleeves with this one! Could this be the next Maverick?!?! -

You were right! That's some wicked foresight. I've sacrificed daily Starbucks, non-packed lunches, beef jerky, and just about every other unnecessary expense so I can take my vacation trip to 4 parks this summer and that's if I escape some sort of misfortune between now and July. I know the value of saving better than many and I find it both laughable and insulting that some think its so easy to get ahead. If you want to skip the line, then buy it! If you don't think it's worth the price, then don't buy it! But for the love of god, stop complaining!! I'm not going to tell you how to save money, no one is excluding you from using this system. I really don't get why people hate it so much, get over it! Personally, I love that I have the option to get to do as much as I want at a theme park, especially if it's one that I rarely or never visit! The fastlane system gets rid of so much headache and stress of trying to cram in a whole theme park while dealing with lines! I wish CP had it the last time I visited -
Playland/PNE (Vancouver) Discussion Thread

The Beast looks great! I will certain to ride it on my first visit to the park this June. Another question for the Playland regulars, where is the best seat on Coaster? -
Clearly, it's slower than normal. Let's all ask I305forever any other engineering questions... Mega Coaster, Hamanako Pal Pal: Ht- 124.7 ft, Spd- 51 mph Big Boom, Nasu Highland: Ht- 126 ft, Spd- 54.7 mph Anaconda, Kings Dominion: Ht- 144, Spd- 50 mph It's actually a reasonable speed, you have no reason to be disappointed.
