  1. I say KUDOS to you Robb! Way to rock it.
  2. I didn't get a chance to see gas prices when I left work tonight as it was SNOWING in Nashville, and I was really distracted.
  3. $1.38 in Nashville tonight as I left work.
  4. Well I don't remember much about riding the Mini-Mine Train, but it sure was cool to have a pint size version of the Dahlonega Mine Train. I've always loved that last drop into the tunnel on Dahlonega...one of my favorite moments on any mine train anywhere!
  5. "Rollercoasters, Flumes, and Flying Saucers" really is a good read that details Bacon's work with Disney. It has some great old pics too. Thanks for this tribute thread!
  6. It was $1.40 in Nashville when I left work tonight.
  7. As a Nashvillian, I think this is what you are looking for: Rippy's It's downtown in the heart of the entertainmnt district and most likely where your boss went. That website link has their phone number listed so you may be able to order the BBQ rub straight from them. Hope that helps!
  8. ^ GREAT! So cheery for the season. Hopefully this one will be experienced on the Scandi trip next summer.
  9. No I haven't seen "Memories of Opryland" posted anywhere online yet. You can buy the DVD here. It is pricey (to me) at $75 bucks because sales are used to help fund the public TV station. That website link has a fairly good slide show of park photos that is worth checking out.
  10. With The Dark Knight being released on DVD this coming Tuesday, I couldn't help but give a little nod to the first ever Batman The Ride at Six Flags Great America. Here it is in all its original paint color glory of black and well more black. R.I.P. Heath...We miss you! To the Batmobile let's go!
  11. Shane, the "Memories of Opryland" TV special aired this past week here in Nashville, and I wanted to let you know I saw your name listed in the credits at the end. They must have used some of your video footage. It was a great show and brought back a flood of memories.
  12. ^ Awesome...all this time I thought Memphis was powered by BBQ!
  13. Last night (or was it earlier this morning after I rolled over and went back to sleep?) I dreamed I was on the TPR China trip. Now I didn't actually go on said trip this past summer, but I digress. ANYWAY, I told Robb I was going to get my money exchanged for Chinese money, so he asked me to exchange his too. Robb said "Make it big bills that rock" or something to that effect lol. The money exchange was in the hotel across the street from the hotel where we were staying. Well one thing led to another in the dream, something happened which I don't recall, and I never got the money exchanged (sorry Robb), but a character actor wearing a HUGE GINORMOUS typewriter costume walked out of that hotel into the streets of the Chinese city. We were all in amazement!
  14. I have been on a Dr. Seuss kick lately having just finished "Sneetches and Other Stories", "Horton Hears a Who", and "If I Ran the Circus".
  15. DW really is the place to be at Christmas. Hopefully you tried out the cinnamon bread from the Old Mill and also the peppermint cocoa near the giant skillets. Yes the skillets totally rock! Fortunately we have Shane's Amusement Attic to authenticate the Gatlinburg Space Needle from an old Intamin catalog: click. Great photo TR Sir Rapids. I didn't want it to end!
  16. It's even working here in Tennessee where we just got electricity last week!
  17. Yep and Beech Bend is doing it again this year. In fact the event opens tonight, and this year BB is even open for a New Year's Eve countdown!
  18. 3 more days til the trip forums open. Looking forward to seeing all the Scandi trip peeps!
  19. Never in a million years did I think I'd see gas prices dip below a buck fifty again, but today I filled up with $1.48 unleaded 87 in Nashville. I was standing in shock and awe when the auto cut-off stopped pumping at $17.80. Remember after hurricane Ike when gas was at over 4 bucks?
  20. It's cool to see the Intamin Space Needle get some love. Such an icon of Gatlinburg and something I've always wanted to do everytime I've visited. When I was a little kid, my greatest aspiration in life was to open a hamburger joint in the G'burg...always loved the place. Oh the taffy shop is a must everytime I visit too. Great TR!
  21. It's wild isn't it? Kinda makes you feel like you've just won the lottery or something.
  22. Prices dropped 4 more cents in Nashville today to $1.52.
  23. Ghost Town in the Sky seems to have gone through an "extreme makeover" after having been closed for 4 years. Everytime I see pics of the park it's packed. Now if Cliff Hanger will finally open, the plastic surgery will be complete.
  24. ^ BeatleBen glad to have you "on board". Thanks for the contribution!
  25. It hit $1.56 today in Nashville.
