I don't know what they have done so far for the water park or sports complex, but I could maybe see them opening the campground by Memorial Day. The only buildings they would really need to construct would be the main office, bath houses, and a few others for entertainment. The rest might just be laying utilities, making stone dirt roads and campsites.

Thought I'd search around a little to see if there is anything on construction, but I found nothing. I did however, find where Acrobat will be added. It looks like it will be next to Bobkart and Steel Dragon's first drop: http://www.nagashima-onsen.co.jp/spaland/attraction/index.html/ -
Never rode it, but I think this is a birthday present to spare me the pain of when I could've been able to. If it is anything as bad at Hades 360, then that is a gift I'll gladly take. As for Wildcat, Hersheypark usually re-tracks sections of it every year (same for Lightning Racer) and they worked on the final helix last off-season. It seemed to help make the ride a little smoother, but I still consider it to be a pretty rough coaster overall. If GCI invented the millennium flyers earlier and used them on it, I am willing to bet the ride would be as smooth at Lightning Racer, but it was GCI's first coaster and they had to grow to get to that point. How often did BGT re-track Gwazi?

I have several different routines for Hersheypark. The most common one for me is taking several rides on Skyrush to finish the night then grab some ice cream before heading out. If I decide to venture to the back of the park, I usually re-ride Lightning Racer a couple of times since it has no line at all during that time. This makes for a nice walk to the front of the park. For Knoebels, this past year has been spending the last part of the night getting a peanut butter sundae from the stand near the Skooters and hopping in line for a night ride on Flying Turns.

I don't know but this just kind of scares me for some reason. I could either see this thing pulling a Windseeker and getting stuck at the top or having a chain come loose from poor maintenance. Hopefully this doesn't happen, but at least they are moving away from just Karts & Coasters and adding a new flat ride.

I wouldn't say that it is moving slow, but more like what was going on wasn't really interesting as the ride will be basically sat down on a concrete floor and the frame just started going up a week ago. Here's a little more detailed update on the building. It is just about 80 feet tall so it is almost as tall as Lightning Racer, Ferris Wheel and Wildcat. No track spotted yet. http://wp.me/p1sPRq-i0 -

Much of the building framework is up for Laff Trakk. This thing looks like it will tower over Midway America since the Ferris Wheel, Wildcat, and Lightning Racer are only slightly taller than the building. I'm going to go see if I can get a few better photos later. This was taken from the nearby Red Robin parking lot. -
Looks like work had restarted over the Summer and they are aiming for opening it in Fall 2016. http://www.rew-online.com/2014/12/03/mega-mall-developers-dreaming-of-2016-opening/ World's tallest drop ride? I have a feeling tallest indoor drop ride might be it as this piece of concept art shows a tall extrusion to part of the indoor amusement park area (but it is concept art though so it might not be true). Glad to hear it is moving again. Triple Five

They do have a webcam set up that does do a time-lapse each day. They seem to be cruising right along with the footers: http://www.knoebels.com/index.php/impulse -

This coaster looks like it might give Kingda Ka a run for its money with the added features of doing inversions 300, 400, and 500 feet in the air (almost sounds like its too good to be true). The only thing that it won't have is speed, but I think this won't really matter quite a bit with the GP. As for the tower and whole project itself, it just looks kind of futuristic and a little better than what the Stratosphere Tower in Las Vegas does. As for if it will be built, I kind of have a little more confidence that it could since we now have a more detailed layout of the coaster and the building itself. Not sure, but did they say at one point that the coaster was to serve as a secondary transportation system to the top of the tower? I'm kind of glad that they removed that if they did as it would've seemed a little pointless. This is definitely something that I must do when it opens! -
Looking forward to the auto smoothening as the coasters I currently try to build are too jerky and have poor transitions. While I like the look, I feel the way to build attractions could be a little easier and an undo button would help quite a bit and simplify things much more. Like the look of the wooden coasters though.

Now I guess we can be quiet about that circular area being used for a Windseeker. I do kind of hope that it will bring in more foot traffic down into that area of the park. They are also adding a barbecue place as well, which is much needed as the variety on what to eat was kind of small. Not a bad choice of additions for next year.

Ehh... Looks ugly to me and gives me the impression that the owners have no idea what they are doing. Hopefully they aren't done painting and paint the supports a nice orange or red color. -

Looks like Skyrider is moving to Italy: Never heard of this park before, but if it is somewhat of a decent stand-up coaster from what I've heard, kudos to them. -

Another thing I don't understand is it not mentioned on the website? I didn't even know it was a Friday thing until I saw the signs outside of WC and LR. What a bummer that was! The signs were from when they first did the event two years ago. They've been doing the 'Coasters in the Dark' event every night last year and they didn't change the sign yet. When it comes to this, I kind of think the best one for this event is Lightning Racer given it's location away from much of the midways and the stadium lights (like Comet and Wildcat). -

Kind of good that the other manufacturers cancelled the plans with the park in the end as this knock-off manufacturer probably would've done the same thing. In the end, it makes the park look pretty bad to the point where they probably won't be about to get many, if any, credible manufacturers to do work for the park. They pretty much shot themselves in the foot on this one. -

Everything was a ten minute wait or less. I got there an hour before closing and managed to ride Fahrenheit with just me and a friend on one train, Lightning Racer with just me being the only one Lightning, a second row ride on Great Bear, and a two train wait for the front to end the night on Skyrush. I really love visiting the park when it is like this during the season. -

Ah, the Cup Challenge.... I rode it on its debut season (2006? 2007?) and the car valleyed on some dip near the end. We were stuck for ages before maintenance finally came and gave us a push! If memory serves, they got rid of that dip when I rode it the next year. The dip is still there, but the spinning that the car used to do when going down those hills isn't (well, every once in a great while a car would do this but the cars aren't programmed to do this anymore). By the way, Laff Track looks to be progressing pretty smoothly. The base walls for the building are just about up, but they still have to add much of the ride foundation. No track or building pieces as of yet. -

It is actually at the point where I mostly ride in the center seats just to avoid much of the roughness and tuck my legs under my seat so that I can ride hands-up through the whole thing. Nearly impossible to do that on the outside as you are easily shaken around too much. I do miss the glory days of the top-speed lift though. -
Walk Of Shame? Theme Park Wise
Ccron10 replied to Rollercoaster Rider's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Tried riding El Toro in the last row back in April and got denied, but knowing that each seat is calibrated differently, I asked the supervisor if I could try a different row and managed to fit in the third-from-last row on the left. Went back in June wearing a pair of shorts that were made of a thinner material and tried the test seat. Got the green light and got to ride in the last row with no trouble. This time around last month something happened with the first scenario wearing the same type of pants. Went to the test seat out front and got the green light. I told the greeter and she was kind of surprised and said that she'd let them know about it up in the station. I can still ride in the third-to-last row so I guess it varies from seat to seat. Did the walk-of-shame from Wicked Twister, but who hasn't? -

So I can only skip the line once for nine roller coasters just before 5:30 pm? Then I would have to chip in another $25 for "Fast Track" in the evening for only five roller coasters? Maybe I'm not understanding something correctly but it doesn't sound like it's worth the money. Also every roller coaster except for Trailblazer will be a new credit for me. Any suggestions on where to sit on certain rides? I would take this to mean the same thing as twilight admission.....If you are there before 3 p.m. you pay $50 and that is good for all day. If you arrive after 3 you pay $25, but you only get 5 instead of 9 coasters. I seriously doubt they would make you pay a secondary price for evening hours once you already purchased a whole day pass...... The All-Day pass is good for 1 ride on each of the nine coasters and the times start at 11am and run until around 5 pm. There is a start time, but the ending time is flexible. You can technically save one of the rides and use it for later in the evening if you want. I don't think it would make sense to buy an all-day pass and come back later for an evening one as you're already getting a ride on it earlier. As for where you can ride, the pass only allows you to ride in the middle rows that are reserved. -

If I remember correctly, Fridays in October would be pretty dead as the park is only open for several hours, high school football is going on, and it is a school day. Fast Track Pass really wouldn't be needed on those days, but still do Fahrenheit first to get it out of the way. The Evening Fast Track Pass allows you to ride one time on each of the five coasters from one pattern. There are two different patterns to choose from: -Skyrush, Comet, Great Bear, Sooperdooperlooper, and Storm Runner. -Fahrenheit, Sidewinder, Wildcat, Wild Mouse, and Lightning Racer. -

Storm Runner, Skyrush, and sometimes Cocoa Cruiser close when it starts drizzling. The rest of the coasters close when it starts to rain heavily or when a storm is approaching. All reopen once the weather has passed. The major rides have to be closed for at least an hour for Return Visit Vouchers can be issued as it states on the website.
