  1. Sounds like this thing could possibly open sooner than Orlando's. I've had no desire to go to Atlantic City, but this thing could change my mind.
  2. Here are some Hershey Triple Tower photos from this morning: Ride Height Sign. Main entrance sign.
  3. Japanese parks in general have been suffering for awhile now with far more closures than openings and new rides being less frequent than in the 90s. A huge part of that is likely demographic shift. Disneysea was constructed specifically with an older visitor base in mind, and obviously Universal being a Universal always had its talons into older groups. They don't have kids because the overwork themselves and socially are a sexual disaster and they have no immigration to speak of. They're literally dying out, and the aging process has also caused the country to basically be in a state of economic stagnation/deflation since 1991. Spirited Away actually uses this fact as the basis for the abandoned theme park that the characters wander into. When you think about it, many Japanese parks really don't add much over time. USO and TDR of course do due to their popularity, Outside the major brands, Nagashima Spa Land, Fuji-Q, and Yomiuriland are really the only ones that come to mind. These parks also seem to always bring in the crowds with wait times longer than any other parks in the World. In these smaller parks, I wonder if the reason why they don't seem as busy as the others is the possibility that they don't invest in new attractions to bring in people and money? Could they may have just back themselves into a wall with no new attractions or crowds with no money to build said attractions?
  4. I'm hesitant to think that this thing would blast full speed at 101 mph into a vertical loop without something to trim it down beforehand. It does look like there is a straight section just after the tunnel that would be perfect for a few trim brakes. Either that or I could see the launch being slowed, but if they keep it the same and no trims and it works, good for them. I could really see them going for a height record on the loop. While it doesn't look big so far, it kind of looks like there is going to be another set of supports going up right behind the existing ones (there looks to be another support up on that hillside).
  5. I visited twice last summer. The first was to get the credits but Leap the Dips ended up being closed and I ended up talking to the nice lady who worked in the gift shop and we talked a lot about the history of the park. The second was on my way back from Cedar Point and managed to take a lap on Leap the Dips. I tried to get on Skyliner as well, but a storm rolled in. I did manage to talk one of the managers during that visited and commented on the renovations to the Dips and he said that they planned these half-year renovations to it for several seasons and this year would've been the last until it would be good for awhile. I guess they'll now have a full season to work on it. Seeing the park do this kind of doesn't really surprise me considering the main midway seemed to be always vacant, the rides (except for Skyliner and Leap the Dips) never had any lines, and everything looked like it was on the verge of falling apart. I like the park and if downsizing to just the most popular rides will make it strive, I'm for it.
  6. That looks like some serious airtime on the Kiss Tower. I was expecting some on that one, but not that much! lol I still haven't got to see them test myself, but a friend of mine did see the Hershey Tower vehicle moving slowly up and down the tower yesterday. The local TV station just did a story on the progress and it seems they are pretty far ahead of schedule with the queue just about ready to be poured. The video inside gives a closer view at the vehicles which use a newer seat style than other S&S Towers. http://abc27.com/2017/02/17/work-continues-on-schedule-for-hersheyparks-newest-attraction/
  7. ^^It looks like that site will come in very handy when it comes to trip planning. Having been blown away by Disneyland the other week, these two parks are really getting me excited to do. My goal is to get over there next year if things work out!
  8. I had an awesome time yesterday for visiting the park for the first time. Got on everything at least once thanks to a platinum flash pass. I've got to say, and I've heard negatives about it in the past, but the employees have to be one of the best out of the six flags parks I've visited. Especially the Twisted Colossus crew who tried to get that train out there right on time on every lap. Pretty much the lack of a constant running shuttle and a couple of closed coasters were the only negative, but it gets me to want to go back again. Tatsu, Apacolypse, Riddler, and Superman were pretty much the only closed coasters. Green Lantern was open and closed all day, but snagged a ride. I really loved this view. Loved the park, but only had to spend a few hours at it. Next time I need to stay longer.
  9. According to Hersheypark's Twitter, all three tower bases are in. Also looks like part of the ride vehicle is on the Kiss tower so far.
  10. Then that means they'll find out the park is closing in another month. I'm wondering if and what rides might be saved? Titan is probably done for since the track is welded together. Then again I could also see the park sitting abandoned as well, sadly.
  11. It sounds like this ice rink might have been one last grasp to attract visitors to the park. From what I can roughly make out of this, it sounds like Space World might be permanently closing at the end of next year. http://headlines.yahoo.co.jp/hl?a=20161216-00010009-nishinp-soci Get your rides in on the Arrow hyper, Intamin, and Maurer while you still can, I guess.
  12. I'll post my photo from yesterday. Those tower sections are very huge. I don't know if it is because I've never realized it with other versions or because it has been awhile since S&S built one. This turned out to be an interesting Subway run!
  13. Definitely: -Six Flags Magic Mountain -Knott's Berry Farm -Walt Disney World -SeaWorld Orlando -FunSpot -Universal Orlando -Hersheypark -Knoebels -Six Flags Great Adventure -Dorney Park -Cedar Point Very Likely: -Six Flags America -Playland Cove -Casino Pier -Morey's Piers -King's Island Possible: -Busch Gardens Tampa -Six Flags New England -Lake Compounce Planning to fly out to California in the end of January and spend a day and a half at SFMM and a day at KBF then fly down to Orlando from there and hang out with a couple of friends for a week. Tossing around the idea of doing my first International coaster trip to Japan and was considering late 2017 or 2018 but I don't know yet.
  14. It was great hanging out with you guys! Those were some good front row rides on Skyrush and it was a great night for it. This is one of the few times of the year where you only have to wait two or three trains for it. Hands up in the front row on the edge seats: it's like riding a bull.
  15. They are working on three drop towers for Hershey and four Free-Fly coasters for 2017. I'd say that's quite a bit right now.
  16. Looking at next week, I see that the park is randomly open on Wednesday (Oct. 12th) during the week. I am seeing that I don't have to work that day and was thinking on doing another trip, but was wondering if there might be school groups or something else I would have to contend with. What do you guys think?
  17. From what I've seen on Facebook the kiddie rides have been moved, FF is gone, no major construction yet. Nothing vertical anyway. The foundation was starting to be poured last week, Flying Falcon is gone but they kept the foundation and plan to put place the two kiddie rides on top of it, and Red Baron is almost finished. The foundation is done, the center of the ride was placed and they still need to add railings, ride vehicles and the controls. Over at the Chick-Fil-A site, they removed several large trees in front of the Music Box Theatre, closed down the restrooms, and put a preview sign up on the side of Shakey's Drive In. Simply put, they are moving faster than I've ever seen on a new addition.
  18. I really hope to hell that is an RMC coaster. If so then I see myself frequenting Kennywood much more often starting in 2018. That would be the closest one to me and I would gladly do the 4 hour drive to it!
  19. Hersheypark Place and Overlook Food Court are the only two locations that serve beer and alcoholic beverages in the park.
  20. I highly doubt it would be something like an Ultra Tower. I am willing to bet those things cost a fortune and if they would want to do three towers of something like that, it wouldn't fit into the footprint especially when you factor in the amount of space you'd need for queue lines, maintenance areas and maybe a pre-show area.
  21. Took a walk through the area where those TB#2 and #3 survey markers are at. Still can't find TB#1, but given the location of the two, I do have to wonder if it would be in the center of Convoy or in Red Baron's ride area?
  22. For rides that might might give you an issue with just a lapbar, Skyrush isn't too bad, but make sure you cross your legs when you go to sit on Laff Trakk. This makes the bar go down further. The other coasters might not be much of an issue.
  23. Went to the park for an hour on Tuesday night and managed to do quite a bit (no surprise). Took a solo ride on Talon, two rides (one being solo) on Hydra, two laps on Thunderhawk, and a ride on Stinger. Was going to do Steel Force, but a nearby storm put a damper in that. I pretty much left an hour before closing since the rain was starting to pick up and the operators at the coasters were leaving early for the day.
  24. Looks like Fuji-Q will be getting a Gerstlauer Sky Roller. From their Facebook page with poorly translated grammar:
  25. Cobra's Curse is currently in technical rehearsal. I'm in line now. This queue looks really good!
