Knoebels Discussion Thread
Ccron10 replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
When I was up there the other week they closed the ride around 1pm to work on upgrades. They recently gave it a new control system, entrance railings, automatic transfer track, and re-tracked brake run. Wouldn't surprise me if they are still fine-tuning a few things. -

If you are going to be riding Fahrenheit or Storm Runner, I recommend trying the test seats before getting in line for now. The restraints are now a lot more restrictive on who is able to ride. -

The park was closed today so it probably doesn't mean much if anything. On a sidenote, Skyrush, Looper, and RXCC now have complementary lockers near their entrances. The lockers at Skyrush/Looper allow you to store your items for 2 hours and 20 minutes for free and the ones at RXCC for an hour. So far they have been very convenient to use and allow you to not worry about losing something in the bag drop or on the ride! -
I don't know, I think the park is missing out on a great opportunity to do more with the terrain on this ride other than just a 85 foot drop into a ravine. After that it is just several turns and a few hills where the bases are kind of far off the ground and into the brakes. It just doesn't seem very GCI to me and it doesn't look like it would be one of their best layouts. I'd show a little more support if it was a lower height requirement since the park needs something for those who are around 42" but until someone or I ride it, I'm going to have to say that BGW missed the mark.

I was shocked as well too as the park says that they don't open many of the coasters if it is below 50 degrees. Eventually even all the Intamins opened including Skyrush, which got new darker blue restraints (the same as last years but just a different color). Elsewhere in the park there are some new ice cream items such as king-sized 32oz milkshakes for $13.99. There's a S'mores with a full-sized S'mores on it, Reese's with a piece of cheesecake on top, and Hershey's. For springtime, they had a limited edition one that had a stick of cotton candy and sugar cookie on top. Over at Chocolate World, they are also selling a huge sundae that has chocolate-cover bacon, chocolate-covered strawberries, pretzel rods and tons of who knows what else in a large light-up souvenir mug for $24.95. Enough ice cream for you? How about now? -
as long as you bought it directly off steam, ran it for less then 2 hours and had it less then 2 weeks (from official launch) you should be able to refund it without issue. Valve/Steam made guide on how to request a refund I guess that means I'm stuck with it since I bought it back in October and have six hours of gameplay on it. Thanks for the link. I don't know where it was in Steam, but it was very helpful.

Looks like I am stuck with this game. I just tried for the past hour to try to refund it on Steam, googling instructions, and through Atari's website and either the instructions presented aren't showing up on my account or there is nobody I can email about this. I pre-ordered Planet Coaster a few weeks ago and I must say that the gameplay with that is much more free and advanced than RCTW. The coaster builder feels the same like it did back in November during the beta, but now with RCT1 style buttons that cause the track to be filled with constant bumps and kinks. The physics is so horrible (as demonstrated with the spinning coaster), the path builder is so limited with only three sizes to choose from, and the peeps look pretty horrible.

They took the 2nd train out for Superman when I arrived, but by the afternoon they were down to one and the line was through much of the switchbacks near the station. Green Lantern was running two. Had a great visit with the staff being very friendly and interacting with the guests (which might've been the most I have ever seen them do this). Zoomanjaro seemed like it was struggling to run consistently during the afternoon with the ride stopping halfway up the tower. On a sidenote, it looks like they did some upkeep on the gondolas for the Skyride by adding some guards near the top parts of the buckets. Although this isn't recent, it really looks like they are hardly running any gondolas on the ride anymore. They weren't running A-side earlier in the day and all the gondolas were over at the motor station and it almost looked like there were only 15 cars! If B-side had the same amount, then it looks like they lost quite a few of the 56 cars that they got from Great America! It was kind of sad to see as the line barely moved.

Since one of the related videos that he has done has the title "Banned from Walt Disney World", I am willing to bet that he didn't. I'm kind of amazed at how much has remained untouched. Ren and Stimpy has been off the air long before Nickelodeon left Universal and yet they still kept the artwork there. Interesting.

I don't think I won either. lol Amazingly out of the number of times I go up there each year, that was the first time I've ever played Fascination. I really enjoyed reading your opinion of Knoebels and you pretty much nailed it. It really is one of the best parks for it's type with a mix of great rides, food (which reminds me, I need to find out where the dole whips are here this season), and a unique theme all to it's own built off of the location and trees. Glowfest really had to have been the best rides I've ever had on Phoenix! Nothing but glow bracelets showing where the train was from off-ride and just a maze of glowing lights from the back rows on the train! Fall Phunfest really had nothing on it.

Planet Coaster (PLC) Discussion Thread

After watching the lifestream, it seems like they might be almost done with the basics for the game to work and much of the work from here will be more rides, coasters, and special features and details. With what they've shown with the generic theming, the detail they are doing the flat rides, and what they have done with food stalls, it is pretty much at the point where I would buy it regardless if there is or isn't a custom scenery option (but it would make it more kicka$$ and appealing if they did). I loved the detail on having greeter employees at the entrances to the rides! lol! -
It wouldn't surprise me that this new assigned seating policy has something to do with some of the space in the station being used up to accommodate an area to allow these VR sets to be cleaned and stored. If I learned something from my visit here last year it is that their coaster stations are extremely small to the point if you just allowed people the choice on where to sit, most would probably just group around the first row they come to and leave the rest of the station empty (affecting the wait time and length of the line). As for the use of virtual reality on coasters, I am excited to see how it is and plan to try it out this year. As for if it would increase wait or dispatch times, I think that is something that we would have to wait and see it in use before we decide on if it does do this.

Ferrari World Discussion Thread

I don't know the testing standards over there, but for Skyrush they had to put so many laps on it before they could let anyone ride it so if that is the case, those wheels probably have quite a few laps that we might be seeing closer to what the speed will normally be. It's hard to tell since there hasn't been many testing videos. The way it hauls over the top of the lift is giving me flashbacks to Skyrush's opening season. Hopefully the lift isn't dialed back on this one later on. Other than that it seems to me that it would come in close second to Skyrush. -

If I remember from past opening days, if it is a warm and sunny day, then expect it to be very busy as people are likely itching to get back out to the park. Get there before opening, then go straight to LaffTrakk followed by Fahrenheit. On a sidenote, the substitute attraction to the Tour Ride, The Making of Hershey's Chocolate, talks about Arrow and how similar the ride system is to some of the Disney attractions. Some patent photos and old ride photos are even used. -

Hershey's Chocolate World will be renovating the Free Chocolate Tour Ride over the next several months to include new ride vehicles, animal characters, and more. http://www.pennlive.com/entertainment/index.ssf/2016/02/hershey_chocolate_making_tour_changes.html -
The article says Dominator, but the security camera photos clearly show Steel Force's station. I don't think Dorney has a flag on top of a coaster. The park has received a lot of backlash today as they at first decided not to rehire a special needs employee who has been with the park for 12 years. The park reversed their decision after a storm of social media backlash: http://www.mcall.com/news/breaking/mc-dorney-park-rehires-special-needs-employee-20160205-story.html

I just meant if they took out Galleon for something new. I think they said last year that they were still working on trying to get Power Surge to work, but I don't know. I know there's no way that they would put one large attraction in two of those places especially since Oasis Cafeteria is in between the two, which is one of their key food venues. Then again, they just might have Galleon up for sale and keep it operating until they have a buyer, then take it out either at the end of the year or once it is sold. I mean they did just add a decent sized steel coaster that did probably cost a pretty penny. -

Interesting. I would've expected 1001 Nachts or Power Surge before Galleon. It's still listed on their website, but Power Surge is still missing. I wonder if they have something up their sleeves for their 90th anniversary? -
I highly doubt that they will rip out Food Fest Grove if they are only going to add two catering buildings at the new location. They would have to be pretty big buildings to make up for the many pavilions in the former area. If I remember from Coastin' for Kids, just about every one of those structures were being used during our lunch.

Speaking of off-season, I went out and checked out what was happening around town. They are really starting to get into building that new road for Park Blvd and some work seems to be going on at the Tour Ride in Chocolate World. At the Hershey Story Museum, Cafe Zooka is out and The Pantry Cafe is in, which serves quite a few fresh sandwiches and flatbread options. The also serve breakfast as well and have quite a few awesome-looking dessert items! A set of doors were added to the hallway around the corner from the timeline in the queue. This hallway looks like it will be re-painted. While exiting the ride, this was built behind the turntable next to the accessiblity entrance for the ride. In town Cafe Zooka is no more and The Pantry is now open! It is owned by the same people who own Hershey Pantry. The desserts look awesome! The fenced in lot for the Hershey Company on Park Blvd is no more. The new road will travel right through the middle of it. Down next to the security gate for Skyrush, it looks like some utility digging is going on.
