  1. I would love them to build something where Chiller was. I honestly thought that Old Country was probably my favorite area at the park during HITP and seeing all that queue and former station untouched was kind of a bummer. I doubt that they would do a major coaster in that area right after building Total Mayhem, but then again it could be possible especially if they do a big overhaul of that area. Would love to see a summer show in that theater, a new flat ride or two, new food and games in the existing buildings and a major attraction where Chiller was. I hope this would happen, but I doubt it.
  2. Crap! Heading down there at the end of the month for the first time and was kind of looking forward to riding it. Oh well at least there's always Kumba and SheiKra to fill my B&M fix and already rode it's equivalent at BGW.
  3. If you are staying at the resort, you can get them for about $15 or $16 off of the gate price from the camp store. Prices for summer 2016 haven't been released yet. Road work on the Park Blvd. realignment has begun as they have already tore down the fencing for the old trucking parking lot behind Skyrush and some of the picket fencing down near Chocolate World.
  4. They're probably going to take the people down through the staircase inside the center of the tower. I just hope it reopens by the time I visit in a month.
  5. The warm weather seems to be bringing a crap-load of people out to the park today as there are some pretty long wait times. As of right now Wildcat and Looper are 1 1/2 hours, Laff Trakk is 75 minutes, The Twin Turnpike cars are both 75 minutes, Ferris Wheel is 1 hour and many of the other major flat rides are either 15 to 45 minutes! In other news, a few weeks ago a construction trailer has been parked over in the area of the old golf course near the split for Hersheypark's parking entrance and where the road takes you past Chocolate World. Yesterday some road construction signs have shown up from this area all the way down to where the road enters downtown Hershey. If I were to bet, it looks like work on the Park Blvd realignment is expected to start any day now. You can find the overall project plan for the new roadway on Derry Township's website: http://www.derrytownship.org/park-boulevard-project-progresses
  6. Them and the people who see the advertisements for the game at the Six Flags parks: Saw this while in line for Wicked Cyclone this past weekend.
  7. For Flying Turns they do go down to one train operation for cold temperatures I believe.
  8. So who else loves the fact that now we can just answer this question with... "riding Nitro"? February should be the only month with no operating days at local parks. ... gotta love it. Exactly and I kind of find it amazing that it has got to the point where some of the parks in our region will only be closed for a month or two before opening back up again. Usually I would think these would be the last three weeks of the coaster season, but now with Six Flags and Hershey keeping most of their coasters open until New Year's Eve or the first week of January, it still feels a little like the middle of the season.
  9. Re-opening the water park? Really? If they are going to do the same kind of job the way the rest of the currently looks, then that is going to look horrible. I'm sorry, but having been there and even though I didn't get a chance to ride Blue Streak, I really have little or no hope on this place surviving. First of all, the park is pretty much located in the middle of nowhere and unlike Knoebels, the only way to know about this place existing is a small directional sign on Route 6. As for the park itself, it honestly looks like someone just randomly walked into it after being closed for 10 years, and just opened the rides up with little to no up-keep on painting, maintenance, or landscaping. When I went, there had to only be 10 to 15 people in the whole park and the ride operators pretty much ran the rides until another guest would show up, which would sometimes take up to 10 minutes. Going back to the water park, it looked absolutely horrible this year and it doesn't shock me that they have trouble keeping water in the lazy river. I just hope they clear out the trash, weeds, and malaria-infested water first before filling it back up. They also would need to hire some lifeguards too, which would cut into their bottom line. I know the place might have some historic value, but I just don't see the reason on keeping the park on life-support in the way it currently looks. Here are several photos from my visit back in July: Umm...ew. I think rust might be the only thing keeping things together. There were maybe an additional three cars just outside this photo.
  10. I'm not too worried about Skyrush. That motor is sitting pretty high up from the creek (almost as tall as the footers) and the computer systems for much of the ride are behind the loading station. If it does get as bad this time around, there might be something new that could help: the area isn't in a construction site anymore with the creek being re-routed. During Lee, they had to funnel the creek to one side or underground through a series of pipes. I'm not 100% sure but I don't think the dam worked at this time either, so with it down (like it was from what I saw this morning), it exposes the maintenance path/crane access path and lowers the water level quite a bit all the way back to as far as Trailblazer.
  11. Suspicion confirmed. He's totally at fault. But I still think the park needs to have better instruction on what to do if you lose something on a ride. Common sense would say to ask one of the rides employees that as I am positive that would've been able to tell you what to do. When it comes to CP, it really looks like they do one of the best jobs when it comes to low zones as on most of their coasters there is not only one fence surrounding most of the ride area, there is a second taller one covering the lower areas the coaster goes through.
  12. http://www.sanduskyregister.com/news/fire-ems/9322141 I expect a hat or cellphone to be involved in some sort of way as more info comes in.
  13. At first I thought they made just a random 2-across inverted coaster train, but upon looking Anaconda up, it looks like they perfectly nailed it with the trains! Can't wait to see the other ride types and further progress of the game!
  14. No you don't. It is basically open to the public so all you need to do is show up and just purchase your ride wristband for that night. They also have a flea market sale where you can buy/sell tons of park/coaster merchandise (I think I might sell some stuff as I have quite a few maps/brochures that I should get ride of), and a costume contest. They seem to be doing a preview event this year on Friday, which seems to be for coaster club members only though. That includes 2 hours of ERT on Impulse and a local Elysburg haunted house.
  15. Why am I not surprised that they closed it to replace the cable, re-open it the following day, then close it again later in the day to investigate the cause? I honestly was expecting to open this thread to read that their Starflyer had a chain snap on it. Any who, those kids are lucky.
  16. I would like to see Shockwave at Dorney Park. They could bring back Laser. The paint scheme is close enough. It's even a used roller coaster. I know this is just a joke at the moment, but if they sold off SkyRider from CW to a park outside the US, why would you think they would decide to just move Shockwave to a different park in the chain? Personally I think that thing belongs in a scrap heap, but that is just me.
  17. He is still there as of right now and it looks like two other people have joined him. lol
  18. They do have the Sunset Admission, which allows you to go into the park just for the evening starting at 5PM on 10PM closing nights. It is $29.95 and might be what you're talking about.
  19. Another website just about posted this a few minutes ago and it seems like Theme Park Studio and Roller Coaster Tycoon World now have some more competition and it seems like it will be made by Frontier: http://planetcoaster.com On their website they have released a few 3D views of a B&M hyper coaster train, park guests and a dinosaur mascot character, and a Chance Unicoaster. Here are a few screenshots they have released:
  20. Last time I was at the park was May 26th and B & C were running perfectly fine, C was especially smooth. I only ride in the back row so I can't speak for the rest of the trains, but I'd find it hard pressed to believe the trains got significantly worse in 2 weeks. The front for train C was butter smooth, but when they let us ride again, I went back to row five and it was a pretty rough ride. A lot of it likely had to do with the wheels and if they needed to be replaced on that particular car.
  21. Went to the park today as well with a friend of mine and El Toro was open even though the crane was still parked near the first drop. Just a few basic notes: -Nitro's crew was really slow and the team lead seemed like she had no motivation for any of her employees or for the riders. Managed to stack all three trains on each cycle until they decided to take one of them off. -Speaking of Nitro, rode the first row of train C and had a smooth ride, but re-rode again in row five on the same train and had one of the roughest rides I have ever had on it. Luckily that was the train they took off, but I rode one more time on train B in the back and had a slightly rough ride. -The longest wait of the day was Green Lantern at about 15 minutes around 12pm followed by Ka with a 10 minute wait. The rest of the rides were either a walk-on or one train wait. -El Diablo was a fun ride that seems like it would be a great family attraction, but it is not as intense as the carnival models. Even so, I think I like it better considering how permanent it looks, there is no roof on the cars, and the restraint is a little more secure. Walked right on to it with no wait for it. Nothing new over by Chiller's old station other than the fences through the Old Country part of the park (which were closed). These guys were all over the place blocking paths and almost entered the line in front of us for Dark Knight. They weren't running many gondolas on the Skyride so this was a common sight.
  22. Get there very early before opening and head straight to Laff Trakk first thing then. Last Saturday it had a line about an hour to sometimes almost two hours for it all day and it typically gets a line first thing in the morning. Another option is to possibly wait to ride it until the end of the night and jump in line 15 minutes before closing so you are guaranteed a ride. According to the app lately, it seems like it might be making the line for Fahrenheit more bearable as it doesn't seem to be generating as long of a wait time than last year.
  23. That land is owned by the park, but one of the issues on why the park didn't expand over there is because of the road (Park Blvd) bordering the park. There have been plans for numerous years on either fixing the old bridge that crosses the creek or relocating it downstream farther. It seems like they plan on doing that latter, which would give the park more room to grow (about 31 acres), but the park has no plans for that right now. I haven't heard much on when this road relocation will happen, but an article last year mentioned construction could be completed by October 2015 to January 2016, but since work hasn't even started (did see a few construction stakes though), I don't think that is true anymore. I did hear about work possibly starting later this year or start of next year, so if that is true, I wouldn't expect the park to touch that land for a few more years.
  24. One last quick weekend update before Laff Trakk opens next weekend. It looks like the outside, queue, and landscaping is ready. The outside queue looks like it has two photo-op cutouts. The test seat called the "Test Carr" is covered in right inside the entrance.
  25. Add Hersheypark to the list: http://www.hersheypark.com/park-info/faqs.php
