  1. If someone could explain what "Thrilling Out" is, I would greatly appreciate it .
  2. Wow! I want to ride this for the queue alone! What a great looking attraction.
  3. That's not what I was saying at all. What I was saying is that it costs them less to charge you an extra five bucks online than it does for you to purchase a Dippin Dots inside the park. Clearly the park is trying to make a profit, and they will make a more substantial profit (unless this online ticketing company is taking a larger amount of money than Six Flags loses from say the sale of a Dippin Dots) from this charge than they will from selling merchandise for the same price in the park. I think a lot of people expect to pay some kind of fee, and it's worth it to get your ticket ahead of time. I am more than willing to pay five dollars to not have to wait in that horrendous ticket line.
  4. ...go Jake's friend that works Goliath! Yeah Alex! I'm really glad that Magic Mountain is able to pack the park so early in the season, I'm hopeful that Terminator will bring the guests in droves!
  5. Or sexy coaster. Or maybe Sean Connery, which means the ride is in fact themed to James Bond. Jake "Just watched Goldfinger" Sundstrom
  6. ^ Err, I don't really think that's a valid claim... Someone should be able to judge a ride on how it was the day they rode it. Not how it ran over five years okay (or however long ago it was, I don't remember to be honest).
  7. ^ But look at that same situation from the park's perspective. You pay five dollars online, and their profit is (theoretically) five dollars. You buy a Dippin Dots for five dollars, and their profit is five dollars - the amount it cost to create the Dippin Dots, right? So it's really in the park's best interest to have you spend your money online than it is for you to spend it in the park. I think.
  8. I love that now that Magic Mountain has picked a "real theme" the "real theming" that would fit best with it is more "half assed" theming! In short, I don't expect there to be a lot of green after judgment day!
  9. Ah, I see. I thought you were comparing on a "factual" basis, not on your opinion of the parks, my mistake! Jake "Lack of tone on the Internet is an awful, awful thing" Sundstrom
  10. There have not been any deaths in the United States at this point, so I really don't think there is a huge reason to be alarmed... The only reason people have died in Mexico is due to their (generally) poor health care. As long as you go to the doctor if any flu symptoms show up you should be fine. It's like the Bird Flu "epidemic" a few years back. Everyone panics for a little while, and then it passes. It will be the same for this as well. Not to trivialize the deaths in Mexico of course, because that's certainly a sad thing, but I think we could all agree that the sky isn't falling...
  11. I don't think they're much of a deal; They only get you into Six Flags. Now the $200 Busch Platinum Pass, that's a deal. ...that pass only gets you into the Busch family of parks? How is that any different? You can argue that you get more with a Platinum Pass with over all benefits, but you ARE getting more parks with a Six Flags' pass.
  12. I just bought my Magic Mountain pass a couple of days ago and I bit the bullet to get my pass ahead of time. It's really not a big problem for me, as I've grown accustomed to these ticket "fees" with nearly every ticket I've ever purchased online...
  13. I'll be going out there May 24th, and expect pretty large crowds so we're going to order the Q-Bot online - just to be safe!
  14. Great pictures! The hotel looks very nice, and Disney Village has a McDonalds... so... win!
  15. Well I suppose that "Yellow" and "Gold" are fairly similar, right? I love a blue and red combination, such as Superman... I keep waiting for my Spiderman coaster .
  16. You're right, I suppose it just irritates me when they try to advertise as a legitimate updating tour of a working studio, when it really isn't! Jake "I still love the park, but I really wish it had more to offer!" Sundstrom
  17. Yes, but I think they vastly underuse the potential with the whole studio right there. The tram tour is fun the first time, but they never really change anything! It feels about the same as it did the first time I rode it ten years ago.
  18. ^ Is EVERY Universal better than the one in Southern California? Sheesh.
  19. While that is a good idea, and certainly sounds nice.. That's a very expensive proposition! You're talking paying someone eight dollars an hour (more if it's a real security guard) for at least five major rides, every operating day... I don't know if Magic Mountain has the cash to throw around to get this done, hell even Disneyland doesn't hire employees to "roam the lines". Although I do think they could stand to have a few employees that roam around the park to help answer guest's questions and the like, so they're useful in a wider area than just one queue.
  20. ^ I could see that being an easy mistake to make. Xcelerator certainly FEELS a lot faster.
  21. Nice report, they should both be really nice additions to the park. And heck yeah for hot Swedish chicks! Can't get enough of that.
  22. ^^ If there was a way to favorite posts, I'd do so to that one. Well said. Security really needs to crack down on these sorts of things, people have the right to say what they want, but yelling it with families around? I dunno, just seems to be in poor taste to me.
  23. Way to cut the balls off of Zeppelin :/. This makes me sad inside.
  24. I've never smelled anything at Magic Mountain (granted I haven't been anywhere near as many as times as most of you guys) however, at Knott's Haunt last year the whole park smelled like pot. I thought I was the only one that wasn't getting any!
