Again, Wes solves a problem in one sentence where everyone else tries to do so in many paragraphs. You sir, rock. On a side note, another reason the themes work at Disneyland is because they don't bleed into one another. Whereas at California Adventure, I can be walking down a path with a winery on my right and a wharf to my left. It's just not consistent and doesn't lend itself to any one theme.

It's true, the California theme has always been a problem. I've discussed this several times with friends and family members in order to try to understand what in the hell they were thinking when they decided to build a California theme park.. in California! This is what we came to, they were going to attempt to market the park as an "alternative" to traveling up and down the state to out of town tourists (mostly those from Japan, who are known to do this sort of thing). I believe they thought if they had all these little pieces of California, then why would people need to travel another few hundred miles to see them, right? Of course if this is indeed what they were trying to do, did they not consider the hundreds of thousands of Californians that you know.. live here? Just my theory. And I always thought this retheme was going to focus more on Walt Disney's California Adventures, if you see what I mean. Focusing more on the California that Walt saw when he got off the train, or what have you. I think that if they do that right it could really tie a lot of things together. Robb, while people may not be completely familiar with the theater itself, everyone is familiar with the "old hollywood" feel that Southern California supposedly used to have. And hell, at least it would be an immersive theme! I certainly can't say the same about the.. less than ideal areas that the park has right now - except for the Hollywood Studios area. So to wrap that all up, I believe that... -The California theme was never a good idea. -The re-theme will focus on Walt's Adventures in California. -That this re-theme to the park will tie a lot of stuff together. -That this re-theme will actually create an immersive environment, not an empty experience. Just my two cents!

^ Do you really have a strong emotional attachment to the park's former state? I've been going to the park since it opened, and I must admit that while I do enjoy the park, it's nothing near and dear to my heart. Of course I must not assume that my feelings are the only ones when it comes to this project, but I would think that since nothing is being removed (well, supposedly) that no tears should be shed. Right? I just saw some pictures over at MiceChat, and it looks like there may now be a credit card option for the boardwalk games (which open soon I believe!). Thanks futureImagineer183! TPR PENS! (Yes, pens!)
ghost007jas replied to Crazy4Coasters!'s topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
That's kind of awesome. I have a few that I take to class with me, Statistics is 10 times more fun when I have a TPR pen to distract me! -
How often do you visit, though? For me, I visit DLR about once ever 12 to 18 months and the amount of construction was annoying for me. I can see it being less annoying to someone who is a regular and has adapted to the changes, but to someone who is a less frequent visitor, I can tell you it was frustrating to get around some areas towards the back of the park. --Robb "Imagine how it would be for a first time visitor." Alvey About once every four months, so I suppose I am a regular - at least more so than people who visit every two years! (I've been in that boat before my So Cal days :S). I can see the problem, however this is the best time for Disney to do this! With the recession and everything going on, less people will be visiting the parks than usual, and as I can't think of a better way to do what they're doing... I suppose it's just a grin and bear it kind of thing!

It's a toss up between X2 and Maverick for me. Both are completely mind blowing for completely different reasons. -

^^ In response to your post on the other page, I know that Xcelerator, Silver Bullet and Ghostrider all do. As well as Space Mountain. But it is true that this isn't really a "common" occurrence. -

Diet soda is evil man! I wish I had the gas money to just go "check out parks" before they open, haha. -Jake "It must be nice to have work :/" Sundstrom -
Best and Lamest Coaster "Ending"

TPR shouldn't be the reason you change your opinion. It should be your own view on the ride, not someone elses. I think what he's saying makes sense, you tend to notice more once you're attuned with coaster stuff. That would be why most enthusiasts hate SLCs whilst the general public seem to love them! -

12/20 Lots of guesses, but some I was able to figure out by looking at the question carefully "We ride coasters all year round" Florida was the only legit choice. -

I'm not a fan of Space Mountain persay, but that last section of right turns makes me rethink my sentiments every single time! Great speed and force - especially at a Disney park! -
I believe that a very common misconception is that a "family ride" must appeal to childrean under eight years old - this definitely isn't the case! I know Disneyland is the token example, but... I'm going to use it anyway! The height restriction for Big Thunder Mountain Railroad is only 40" and that's not just a ride that appeals to children under 8! That's a ride the ENTIRE FAMILY (which as has been mentioned already is what 'family friendly' truly is) can enjoy together! I think Six Flags could use some attractions that fit into this bracket.. granted the trouble is that at Disneyland, Big Thunder is in the top tier of thrills, where-as a ride like Goldrusher at Magic Mountain won't appeal the whole family when the older kids are much more interested in Riddler's Revenge across the way.. It's a tough situation, that's a fact. Oh, and I also think the International Program is an idea that conceptually doesn't sound bad.. but if the person can not speak English, well.. what good are they?

Mark Shapiro on CBS News

Three words. Not Gonna Happen. Two words. Was Kidding. :] It's good to see that Shapiro is confident in the company, misplaced or otherwise. He's done a great job with this chain, regardless of the mess it was in beforehand... I have faith in him to steer this company back on course. -
