  1. ^ LOL! That picture is awesome! I honestly don't really mind X. Its pretty much a hit or miss with me. The only reason why I don't really ride it too much is because its off far away in its own section of the park. So unless I'm at the park with non TPRers and they insist on riding it, then I usually don't hit it. A good tip is to have the restraints just right, too much is painful, but too loose is even worse. _six
  2. ^ Slave Labor? Ok...so maybe she was 19? _six
  3. Ugh! Trash in my trains! I actually wasn't working today, hence why it was dirty I've been told several times that its some sort of a manual brake, although if anyone can confirm that, that would be great. Nice Trip Report! Glad to see you had a good time at Magic. _six
  4. Yup, all the asians are from Thailand. We actually have quite a few from Ecuador and India now too. But compared to how many Thais we got this year, it kinda goes under the radar. I can also tell you that most of them are at least 20, despite their looks. There is a HUGE language barrier with them, but Six Flags has actually taken the ones who speak the best english and placed them at locations that they're alone at. Maybe such as a Food Service cart or a Gotham City ride and have the 'not so good' at speaking ones check the restraints at a place where there's many workers. I actually love my internationals this year, too bad their going back in a month or so. _six
  5. Eh, a little of everything. Its the largest ride in its area, so you kinda have to show some pride in that your on that crew. You basically can't be slow. The thing that always seems to really slow down the Tatsu crew is simply communication. Now the fault for that can't be based on just the crew, the design of the station is well...just weird! As to where at X, we've always had good communication, everyone knows what to do, everyone can see each other and so forth. I can't even begin to tell you how many times I've heard arguments over the microphones at Tatsu of ride operators. So, I blame poor communication for Tatsu's slow operation. Just my 2 cents on the topic. _six
  6. I finally came out this past weekend. I feel so much better.
  7. It's not even training, it's basic common sense. From a early age we have to learn not to run out into traffic. If we do we'll get hit by a car. Same idea with being around a roller coaster. You just don't jump a fence and run in front of it's path. Exactly, back when I use to work in Bugs Bunny World, I would ALWAYS be in the track area of Canyon Blaster for a guest who lost an artical. You always have to turn off power, close the panel, take the keys with you, and alert guests that you'll be right back. I really don't see how these things can keep happening. It really is all common sense, no training should be needed for that! _six
  8. Well, its always unfortunate when a ride operator loses their life, what's even worse is that its almost always over something that is completley avoidable. _six
  9. Years ago me and a few other family members stopped at Magic Mountain, me being an idiot I forgot my pass at home. But they were actually really cool about it, I think it took $20 to get a new one. So, its not really the end of the world. I did have to show ID, but after that they just brought up the record and picture and gave me a new one. _six
  10. ^ Butter just can't lie TJ...it just can't. Midgets on the other hand....eh. _six
  11. Being someone who has worked those positions at X, you really need to decide if you are going to allow preferred seating or not. You can't go back and forth on who wants to sit where and allow, and then not allow another guest's request. X's front seat has an extended queue. I allow guests to sit in the front if they ask. If the front seat queue is already full then they just stand aside in the locker area. Only about 1/10th of the guests ask to sit in the front, so its not a really big problem. But say at Deja vu, we do NOT allow any preferred seating. ( Which causes many problems ) but I'll never make an exception to someone and then go right back to enforcing the no preferred seating rule. So, its either you follow it with no exceptions, or you don't. Its that simple. _six
  12. ^ Yeah, besides the issue with it valleying a few week ago its been running fine. By the way, X reopened today. So you have that to look forward to also. _six
  13. X reopened today shortly after the park's opening. _six
  14. Count on X being down. Other than that, no other rides should be down. _six
  15. I see no awesome video on Youtube showing this event. Lame...you fail. _six
  16. ^ Thankfully I've never had to evacuate X from lift. Only from readies/transfer. ( And in that case I honestly forget if there was some sort of a platform or something that was brought out. That was way back in summer. ). I do know that you have to carry up this huge tool that must weigh around 100 lbs and then manually rotate each seat. I'm sure some sort of platform would be brought out at that point in time to assist the guests from the unlocked seat to the lift stairs. So yeah, I'll try to avoid being the one who get to carry about the huge tool to manually re-rotate. I'll go to height check any day! _six
  17. An X train has been sitting at upper lift for over 30 hours now. Judging by the way the seats are rotated they had to do an evacuation. As I walked past it today there were some mechanics walking on the actual train...so I have no idea what's going on with it. Whatever it is, seems to be the train itself. _six
  18. Uh...yeah our internationals from Thailand are for the most part better employees than our American workers. While although there might be a language barrier with them, I can tell you that they run the rides just as safely and efficiently as the regular employees. _six
  19. SFMM employees ARE allowed water and only water. We use to have ice at our locations...but I haven't seen any buckets with ice in them since summer. . As far as carrying food around the park, it has to be wrapped in plastic at all times and you certainly may not eat in front of guests ( although I know some do). _six
  20. Yeah, she came back and told me about the picture. _six
  21. ^ I haven't heard any music at the top that's changed. As of Wednesday it was still the same Asian looping songs. I've heard the 'new' music in the front plaza along with the Goliath area. I'm sure there's other midways that play it too. _six
  22. ^ No, the radio station was playing gangster rap. Around the park they're just playing 'hit' songs...I know I heard some Red Hot Chili Peppers the other day. So its not that the songs are bad....I would just rather have themed music in each area. I see that as being more family friendly I suppose. _six
  23. Eh....I've heard the new music...and honestly I don't like the change. Sure I like the songs they play, but it doesn't really go under the "Family Friendly" category. Just like the radio station that was there a week or so ago. -mike
