  1. The park was doing okay tonight, considering it was a busy saturday night I'd say they were doing well. Tatsu dropped to one train though, which was the only really bad thing I saw. The main gate workers were really great tonight though! I purchased and got my season pass fully processed in less than 10 minutes. So, hats off to the main gate and season pass processing workers. Rode Revolution with the new trains -- and they were nice. You still hit your head a bunch of times, but all the awful constant vibrations were gone. I also heard almost every employee say, "Have a Magic day!". Even though its not my favorite verbal slogan , to see the consistency hold up was impressive. -Mike
  2. I think its time to ...bump bump bump. -Mike
  3. At Scream its very common for us to dispatch a train while the other one is going through the cobra roll. ^ Yeah , the lift acts as a VERY long block. -Mike
  4. Thanks Guys. Of course I got anul beads Jahan, wouldn't be a birthday without them! -Mike

  6. Sorry, I have no pictures! But I can say that it was pretty cool what the Scream! crew did that day. The new area senior supervisor Christina was pretty much the one that made it happen though. She's what the park needs right now, someone who wants to find things that the park can celebrate, and she makes it happen! Hats off to her! As William said, Scream had a few set backs which prevented the ride to run 3 trains which is unfortunate but the crew's amazing celebration attitude seemed to make up for it. The loading station was decked out with balloons, birthday signs, wrappings, etc. Please don't quote me on this, but we've been talking about doing similar celebrations at major attractions as well! -Mike
  7. Being someone who frequently works on two rides at the park. ( One with the locker system and one without ) I can tell its made dispatch times increase by a lot at the ride that does have the new locker system. While I can totally see what the argument is here, I can say that a lot ( if not all ) of the positives go perhaps a bit under the radar or invisible to the normal eye. But they're there for sure! As Joey said, there's nothing worse than having to have a guest who brought a handbag set it aside. -Talk with the guest -Unlock that row and another adjacent row -Have that guest walk it over -Recheck that person's seat, their row, AND the other entire row that had nothing to do with the incident. That's 30 seconds at least..and that's saying that there's one per train. Its not rare that that happens 2-5 times per train! -Mike
  8. The other train stayed at Knotts and runs on Boomerang. -Mike
  9. Remember guys, I believe that the X bogies are currently very loose, in which case the seats are going to rock back and forth more so than they would during normal operation. Naturally the seats are also going to rock even more when the seats are empty. -Mike
  10. ^ Its an old ride unit from the old Speedy Gonzales ride that use to operate where Panda Express is now. ( Next to Viper ) -Mike
  11. Hey Brent! Glad you had a great day today! Really great catching up with you today. See you again soon! -Mike
  12. The lack of any Disco Dans or Phat Phils bring this video down to a B. I'm sure a select few of you get that! Great find! -Mike
  13. Hey Guy! After 1 year now I'm ready to believe you that Elissa gave birth! -Mike
  14. I was always just kinda blah about it. I didn't like doing team sports, really didn't like running ( half because I'm fairly lazy , other half because I have asthma ). The things I liked most was when they would let you go off on your own ( find your group of friends ) and shoot hoops or go to the weight lifting room. I also really liked swimming in 10th grade. -Mike
  15. Hey dude! Nice photos. Those shots of Disneyland are insane, I've never seen it that busy in person. When Jahan and I went last month I thought it was packed, but not to that extent. Either way, Disney knows how to crowd manage and it can still be a great day! -Mike
  16. ^ Haha! You have no idea how happy that made me! -Mike
  17. http://www.themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=35614&start=430 PLEASE post all rumors in the Rumor Super Thread! -Mike
  18. ^ That's another one of those theories that blows the mind man.....trippy. -Mike
  19. Very nice trip report! Wow, haven't been to Knotts since 2005. Glad to hear that you guys had a great time! Awesome photos! -Mike
  20. Totally! That means a whole NEW ride to stand in line for! -Mike
  21. ^ That sounds more like there's a problem with the coach(s). Whenever a guest gets sick on a ride we actually clean it with either water or oops. ( The sawdust like cleaner ). Depending on the ride. I can't speak for Colossus, because I've never worked it, but everytime its happened on my rides we never send the train with guests on it, instead its always completely empty. -Mike
  22. I like the idea. Does it have flaws? Sure it does. I think a major part of how it works depends on how the crew treats it. I know that at Magic, there really isn't any sort of a uniform system on how we use it. Reason for that? Is that each station is created differently. Its impossible to make a system that each ride can follow identically. When staffing is great, the system works amazingly well. Let me explain with real life examples of Revolution... If staffing allows it, we have a grouper ( a ride attendant who stands at the end of the queue bridge and holds guests from entering the station building. This person will also assign guests their rows). We'll have another person devoted to flashpass and handicap. The flashpass entrance on Revolution is located near the front of the train. An attendant will take their flashpass and then place them in the station rows and alert the attendant doing grouper than they've placed two or however many have you in a certain row and to not assign guests to enter that row. Bottom line, its best to sneak the flashpass guests past the other nonflashpass guests to avoid any sort of viewing unfairness that guests might experience. The non flashpass guests never know that the flashpass guests have gone in front of them, and the flashpass guest have a 5 minute wait , rather than a 1 hour wait. Everyone wins. Now, more often than not we're unable to have a grouper or person devoted to handicap and flashpass so the person checking seats towards the front or dispatch needs to take on a double job. ( which does hurt operation ). In this case all the guests are crowded in the station and see these flashpass people come in. But honestly, 99.9% of the guests don't seem to mind the fact that people PAID more money and therefore get an advantage. The deal is offered to everyone. Like I said before, there is no one way to do the flashpass system. It varies ride by ride, for the better or for the worse depending on the layout of the station. I think Disneyland does a VERY good job at 'hiding' the fastpass guests from the non fastpass guests. They hardly see each other, and if they do they're out of sight in seconds. They don't get in line right in front of you normally. The key to running a ride with a good flashpass system is communication. But often systems can be harmed by staffing issues, and other external issues that we can't prevent. Trust me, I understand the frustration that guests go through when they see a flashpass line that's out the door. But once again, it all boils down to the fact that you have that same chance to buy the flashpasses. If spending $20 in the stores is more important than cutting down your wait time then that's fine! Its all about sacrifices that people make. The people who have the flashpasses might not now be able to buy something to take home, but that was their choice! Hope that was somewhat helpful. -Mike
  23. Nice update Robb! I haven't even been to the back of the park yet since they've painted Gold Rusher's station; looks great! A lot of the guests were actually talking about the job fair yesterday, which is always a good sign. Oh yes, and binoculars! Sky Tower's spending budget must have gone up since I was a lead there. That's really great in my opinion. One of the things I remember guests that lived around the area doing is trying to pick out their house from up there, I'm sure with the new additions of binoculars it can actually make it more possible! Once again its really great to see another update which shows Magic Mountain going in the right direction! -Mike
  24. I'm rather dissapointed in you TPR. Page and a half so far and nobody has said Aquatrax! -Mike
