  1. Agreed Scruffy! PKI has been getting worse and worse for years now. Rides that need paint, areas of the park that need landscaping help, theming, (with the exception of NIK Universe) is either outdated or doesn't exist at all. Where I believed that PKI was one of the top two Paramount parks 5-6 years ago, it's quickly dropping to the bottom.
  2. Yeah, the double helix tunnel on Beast is still pretty good, (except they put those trim brakes at the top of the hill). My favorite though, so far is Voyage's triple down tunnel.
  3. I'll bet that was a quiet and awkward ride! When we were up at CP last week we went to the Lagoon Deer Park, on the way home. While we were in the pen with the deer feeding them I started getting a very uncomfortable feeling as I was surrounded by deer...no escape! They were pushing up against me fighting each other for peanuts we had. Suddenly I get goosed by one from behind and peanuts go flying everywhere! Happy deer everywhere! I had to get my son to rescue me, for whatever reason they were scared to death of him, and ran everytime he got near. One of the same deer from this group also bit my mom's butt too. That was our first and last visit there, and unfortunately this is their last season in business. It's probably best, he can't feed them like they need to be fed, and the whole place is pretty rundown.
  4. You actually have until the 20th to vote on the size of the tower, (90ft. or 140ft.), and to name the new drop tower. There will be prizes given to the winner. The winner will get the first ride on the tower with 11 friends sometime in November, and a fully-catered picnic in '07 for up to 20 people. www.waldameer.com
  5. Had a grey-out moment on Millenium Force this year at Coastermania. Go figure, riding coasters for most of 19 hours that day, and that was my 5th consecutive ride on MF at around 12am. It was a very strange feeling. I felt light-headed, and my eyes literally went grey for a moment during the overbanked pretzel turns. I chalked it up to overdoing it, and called it a night.
  6. I know I'll be corrected if I'm wrong, but I don't believe anybody died, but there were some pretty bad injuries. There's never a time I've seen that video where I didn't cringe.
  7. Here's another article in english from a Montreal paper. http://www.940news.com/nouvelles.php?cat=24&id=71535
  8. There's five minutes of my life I'll never get back. Just kidding! No matter what I tried Robb never came close...reality tv at it's best!
  9. Thanks Robb & Elissa! Got mine today. My wife actually sat down and watched the video with me. I don't remember the last time I got so many laughs out of any video. I actually remember watching episodes of that crazy japanese competition recently, (at least part 1). Part two: No Part three: Much like you guys...I had no comment, other than I'm glad I wasn't eating while watching it. Seriously though, you guys keeping besting yourselves with each release. I already mentioned the humor, but the footage itself was just great. Not only did you guys give more than enough coaster/ride footage, but once again you showed some of the cool things about Japanese/European culture. Someday, somehow I'm going to join you guys for one of these trips. - The videos are well shot. The editing top notch, just as on the previous volumes. - The music selection was great, (Hey! You even got Hillary Duff in there...and it didn't annoy me!). - Good choice of coasters/rides, from what I'm sure was tons of tape to go through, (Esp. liked the dual racing sit down/stand up coaster & Hong Kong Disney). There's so much more I could say, but you'll have to purchase this for yourselves. If you've never gotten a TPR video collection before...this is a great way to start. If you're like me, and have them all, make sure you add this one to your collection.
  10. I have to go with many others and say Raging Thunder @ Americana. I don't know if the canyons were overflowing, or what, but everytime we rode that thing I swear it took 48-hours to completely get dry! More recently, I would have to say the carnival-style flume at Virginia Beach Amusement Park. My wife, daughter, and I rode it about two years back, and we were totally drenched. These are the flumes that have the water shields on the sides of the troths, and the water was just re-directed right at us. But it was hot that night, so it felt great.
  11. Haven't met an Arrow Corkscrew yet that I liked. To me though, CP's is exceptionally bad.
  12. Zach's Zoomer @ Michigan's Adventure...but can I say Shivering Timbers instead? It was technically 3rd from last.
  13. From an enthusiast POV I thought it was funny that the "local" reporter had to look at his paper to remember the rides name...and still got it wrong, calling it the "Son Of A Beast".
  14. For me, it would be CP and GL. Not every coaster is a winner in these parks, but you do have quite a variety to choose from in these two. You've got height, speed, and quantity at CP. And over at GL you've got 10 pretty decent coasters IMO, and in those coasters not much repeat in styles, (floorless, flying, hybrid, classic wood, and impulse, just to name a few). If you're counting credits, conceivably, you've got 26 possible credits in two parks. Just whatever you do, don't make Paramount's King's Island part of the trip...it won't be a memorable coaster experience, below average maybe, but not memorable.
  15. I may be slightly biased since PKI is my homepark, but SOB has it's moments when I actually like it: 1. When the park is closed. 2. When it's broken down. 3. When I'm not on it! But...I would still rather see Mean Streak become the site for the worlds biggest weanie roast!
  16. I seriously cannot think of any coaster I've ridden so far that scares me that bad. But SFKK has a ride called the Breakdancer that made me both scared for my life, and sick at my stomach. www.bonner-breakdance.de/breakdance1/
  17. That is definently a future enthusiast! Absolutely hilarious, and scary at the same time. I couldn't tell from time to time if she was enjoying the ride, or if she was going to freak. But seriously, a totally precious moment caught on film. The look on my daughters face last year when she rode Big Bad Wolf (BGE) was great too. And me leaving the camcorder in the station...duh!
  18. I am now 35, but I didn't ride my first coaster until I was 10. My first coaster was the Screechin' Eagle @ Americana/LeSourdsville Lake in Middletown, Oh. My first steel coaster was the Screamin' Demon @ King's Island.
  19. Great TR Robb & Elissa, it was all very enlightening on the MBP & FK end of things. Though I really want to hit SFOG and Whitewater some day, it'll have to wait for now. But when the cock jokes started flying...I had a feeling things were only going further downhill...and then I see this!!! Most disturbing pic ever on TPR! More Elissa...that I can deal with...more manboob love...please, never again.
  20. We too saw the helicopter but were oblivious to what was happening. I told my wife I assumed it was a news station getting some Voyage footage, I never would've guessed this was the reason. My wife said Mrs. Koch seemed to be upset that night when she rode Gobbler Getaway with a bunch of them...I'm so sorry. My prayers go out to the Hempfling family, and also to the Koch's.
  21. The Voyage this past weekend...can't get enough of that triple-down!
  22. A big thanks to HW! We were treated like coaster royalty around there this weekend. They really did go all out for the event. Three ERT's, three meals, and plenty of free time in between. Pat and Will were grinning ear to ear everytime I saw them, and it was infectious for just about everybody for that matter. The Voyage lived up to it's hype, and crushed it too. I haven't personally been this excited about a coaster since Millenium Force' opening. The walkback on Sat. was great. Lot's of photo ops, talks, and fun. I'm am far away from being a dark ride enthusiasts but Gobbler Getaway was an awesome ride, and beats anything I've been on yet for fun. Mrs. Koch even admitted she was glad the event was coming off so well since they had so many new employees, and had been through so much training as of late. But she was very confidnet. The whole event was especially fun for me since we had two HW virgins with us. And their excitement was off the wall...their hooked for life now.
  23. After that pic of the bear I can't stop thinking about the masturbating bear on Conan O'Brien. Gee...thanks! "Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, and Robb rides the Scat". Well, that clip cracked me up all week, esp. as I watched people at HW riding Revolution.
  24. Thanks again everybody. We've pretty much decided not to chance it with the PVM. If we go to the Dells we'll either go to Treasurer Island if we want the 4 for 1 price deal, or one of the other more well-kept motels. Once Kelly read the part about feet turning black from the carpet, her face told the whole story.
  25. Steel - Hypersonic XLC (PKD) Wood - SOB ...Thankfully I only live about 40 minutes away from PKI, so it wasn't a terrible downer. Hypersonic was a really depressing experience. I'd waited for 2-3 years to ride it, and it was awful. But I quickly forgot about it after I rode Volcano.
