Six Flags announces Six Flags Thrilleaders

No. Renaming Drop Zone to Drop Tower is the stupidest idea ever. -
Blizzard Beach- Do you like it, or not?
ginzo replied to VivaLaVibora's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^^I haven't been to Blizzard Beach yet, but I was lucky enough to hit Typhoon Lagoon in January. Yes, we visited a water park in January! Typhoon Lagoon is a very solid water park. The wave pool was excellent and they have a very good master blaster. The park is designed in a very clever fashion with several slides coming down from the same big concrete structure. They do have a few meh slides, but overall it's a great place. -
Welcome to your late 20s Elissa!

Eh? One of the three Master Blasters at Typhoon Lagoon is easily the best water park attraction I've been on. Pure airtime bliss. Of course, I haven't been on Deluge yet and fully expect Deluge to be better. -

I think they wanted to try something new and original and I don't blame them. Someones got to get the first and for all we know, it might be a hit for the park. But it's not new and original. It's an updated version of an apparently really bad ride. -
Lawmaker Wants to Make Anonymous Internet Posting Illegal
ginzo replied to riccoaster's topic in Random, Random, Random
Anonymous posting on the Interweb is so essential to how we operate as a society today. For better or worse, a good portion of our national political conversation takes place anonymously on blogs and what not. There has to be a better way to handle the online harassment problem than this. I imagine this congressman was just trying to attract attention to the issue. -

This bill is illegal. Nothing more really need to be said about it. http://www.dailytech.com/Kentucky+Lawmaker+Attempts+Criminalization+of+Internet+Anonymity/article11038.htm -
Oh man. I've followed Westboro Baptist Church for years. It's such an interesting thing. They're basically just looking to start shit. Basic attention whores. Interestingly enough, they're fairly intelligent people. Many people in the Phelps family work as lawyers. Louis Theroux did a BRILLIANT documentary about them called "The Most Hated Family in America". Check it out.

Worker at SF Great America Dies
ginzo replied to mcjaco's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
It says, "Worker at Great America," you clod! Jeez. You pasted the article, and you don't even get that part right. Then you try to blame it on "typical American journalism." Give me a break. And it's not inaccurate. He was a worker, he was at Great America. What's the deal? You're wrong. Simple as that. Also, you used the wrong "its" in saying it is "journalism at it's finest." Journalism at it is finest? That doesn't make sense. Play nice. Matt is right that the media typically creates false hysteria about the amusement industry. I just don't think that's what's going on here. -
Worker at SF Great America Dies

Headlines are supposed to be as short as possible. That's just how writing works. Short sentences have the most power. That fact that he worked for another firm is right there in the second sentence. I think the average person is able to read two sentences. -

Not really a big deal. The article was not sensationalized. Pretty decent considering some of the trash my local news shovels. WHERE TO FIND THE CHEAPEST GAS!!! The headline did its job. It got you to read the article. -
2008 Six Flags Souvenir Cup Policy
ginzo replied to trek's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Ha! Is this a real question? I've always assumed that those re-usable cups were sold for the existing season only. -

I hope you're wrong. Though I am a little puzzled as to why IB didn't go with known winners, like a Eurofighter or a Maurer spinner. Heck, I'd have been happy with them restoring some old Schwarzkopf. -
Theme Park Review's 2008 Europe Trip
ginzo replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Because this is the "Mainland Europe" trip, not a UK trip. The continent has more than enough parks to keep us busy. My understanding is they'll be repeating the UK trip eventually. -

I don't see how with decades of operation and tens of millions of riders how all of a sudden backwards riding is unsafe. It's so obviously NOT unsafe. Though I can understand the legal implications of going against PTC's recommendations for their trains. If they're actually interested in safety, how about making the frontwards Racer not give you those Mike Tyson kidney punches it's so famous for. -
"My favorite movie stars are Pamela Anderson and Patrick Swayze. Patrick Swayze is sexy. He's good-lookin'. I love that man to death. I would pay money to touch him."

Yeah, Dollywood's season pass pricing is pretty reasonable. Just be sure to bother to process it! They'll let you in the gate 1 or 2 times without processing it. Last year we bought season passes, didn't bother to process figuring we'd have time, got rained out for 2 days and never got back to the park to process our passes.

Mitch Hawker's 2007 Steel Coaster Poll Results

Yeah, God forbid that a coaster off the beaten path would have a chance in the poll. Everyone knows that if it's not at Cedar Point then it must automatically suck. -

I heard a rumor about this last year. Just more evidence that CF is the asshole of the industry. -

Everything looks pretty good, except MF is vastly overrated again. Gonna be funny to see the reaction to Eagle Fortress's ranking. I fully expect groans of "not statistically significant" from people who wouldn't know a Chi square test from T'ai Chi.
