JZ's Ongoing Kings Island Update Thread!
ginzo replied to PKI Jizzman's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I'm still puzzled as to why they're calling the suspended coaster Flight Deck when Kings Island has a flying coaster. Wouldn't it make more sense to give this incredible name to the flying coaster? -
Whip at BPB finally being dismantled
ginzo replied to kenshinmac's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Let's just hope that some of the parts from this Whip make their way to the parks that are still running theirs. -
Actually, I think you'd have to be living under a rock (or maybe in another country) to have not heard about that. Non sports fans suck! Sorry, but baseball doesn't do much for me. I used to like it, but I went to a game a few years ago and was bored to tears. In general, I'd rather partake in a sport than watch other people play one.

Having been on all of the US B&M hypers and dive machines, I really hope that Kings Island gets a hyper instead of a dive machine. Sheikra and Griffon are great rides, but to me aren't the best in their respective parks. I don't find a lot of re-ride value in them personally. -
Six Flags First Quarter Revenue up 35%
ginzo replied to Evan1127's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Great news. It's nice that Six Flags is finally seeing some results under the current regime. A few more years of good quarters and maybe we'll see them build out those El Toro clones we all want. -

If you're coming back to this area next year, you might consider putting off your KI trip until next year. This new rumored coaster would make your KI experience a lot better. If you want to go to some place new this year, you could try Kennywood instead. It's a very fun park and not that much further away from Columbus than Cedar Point is. -
As a Six Flags shareholder (therefore, a part owner ) let me assure you that SFA is "OWED" nothing But what's really going on with that park? Are they hoping to sell it to real estate developers for land after the housing market recovers? It is a bit odd that they have given that park basically no love when it seems like all the properties are getting stuff.

Kings Island gets a lot of guests. I think they usually get more guests per season than Cedar Point does, but the lines have never seemed quite as bad as Cedar Point's lines. Not sure what that's about. I'd avoid weekends, particularly Saturday. I've even seen it pretty bad there on weekends in April. If you have to go on a weekend, go on a Sunday. Weekends late in the season have been really good to me in the past. Weekdays are usually a safe bet. If you wind up going on what you think will be a busy day, get there at opening and go right to Firehawk and Flight of Fear. They're right next to each other and usually have bad lines. -

Awesome. This just means more free seats on the ERT sessions this summer as I'll probably be using nearly every minute of ERT that we get. -

They're capacity machines. They eat riders like Homer Simpson eats donuts. Only having to check a lap bar and no seat belt makes a HUGE difference. Though, knowing Cedar Fair, they'll probably try to install some sort of belt that holds the lap bar down. I still think lines could be really bad. Sure a moving line is better than one that does not move, but a 2 hour wait still sucks no matter what way you slice it. I figure a B&M hyper would pretty much look heavenly compared to everything else in the park and the line will build accordingly. Heck, I saw huge queues for Vortex last year and that thing has always been a champ on capacity. -

^Yeah, but it's different for us locals. I can understand why someone would never want to drive for hours to KI. For me, I think a good B&M would get me to go back again. It's only about 20 minutes away from me. I could go up there on a weeknight: Get a few cycles in on the B&M, ride Delirium a few times, Drop Zon^H^H^HTower one or twice, Adventure Express, and, of course, FLIGHT DECK. Basically spend 3-4 hours and close out the park. That beats watching some awful reality TV show for me. Even if the Racer is too rough to ride now. The one thing that scares me about the prospect of KI getting an actual good coaster is how bad the lines will be. I only rode Firehawk once last year because the line was consistently terrible. And that's a mediocre to OK ride at best. Imagine what kind of line an airtime machine would bring. UGH! -

I'm disappointed. Why isn't he asking us how much bread and milk cost up at Cedar Point? -
Insufficient restraints on coasters

You mean you don't like getting your shins bashed with metal bars while having the sides of your legs scraped up? -
I think trying to read that just gave me a mini stroke.

I don't mind Beverly. The trick is to sip it. Chugging it is a very bad idea. -

Millennium Force is about as good at giving airtime as a quadriplegic midget is at playing in the NBA. Face it: There are kiddie coasters with better airtime (High Speed Thrill Coaster). But the rides are mostly crap. Funny how a tiny park like Indiana Beach manages to have a better flat ride collection than the so-called mighty Cedar Point. Tamprica has a better coaster collection than Magic Mountain. Quality > Quantity. -

Eh, but most of B&M's lemons haven't been hypers. Even a Raging Bull level B&M would greatly improve KI's coaster line up, which is about as bad as it gets right now. And something at the level of Nitro or Goliath SFOG would just be that much better. I don't expect CF to install an EGF/SROS level ride, but they can at least give me a reason to buy a season pass again. As it stands now, I'm not going KI again until they give me a good reason to. I don't mind the place so much as it's still better than watching TV, but my wife is about the biggest KI hater ever. I'd rather watch TV than listen to her constant stream of gripes every time we go. -

I hope you're being sarcastic. That's the whole point, you are in a museum about the Yeti. No sarcasm. My point was that approach doesn't do that much for me. I like the idea of the Yeti, but I've never felt that EE as a whole really delivered as well as it should have. -
They do have a chapel and Rev. Fred Phelps holds services there. Now basically the entire congregation is composed of only his relatives, but they are a church and many of their members, especially Fred Phelps, are quite well read on Old Testament. They just have a very odd interpretation of scripture. And, yeah, they are desperate for attention and the whole church is just a big scam for Fred Phelps to spread his hate.

Definitely a matter of opinion, but in my book, I think it's slightly better. Without question, they're both unbelievable, but for some reason I'm now leaning towards EE. Maybe it's because of the small "interactive" touches like the coin toss area and the bells (however annoying they may be at times), but the research involved in the design is most impressive. When I first read through this I thought you said that Expedition Everest was better than Dragons, like the ride. I was getting ready to schedule an intervention for you because you'd have to be on crack to think that. But then I noticed that you were talking about the queues. Silly me. As for the queues, I'll give the edge to Dragons. The castle looks quite impressive from a distance and EE's queue is too museum-like for me with all that stuff in glass cases. -
