Actually, the idea that you are showing something respect by killing it and eating it is the absurdity here. I'm far from a vegetarian, but that notion was one of the dumbest things I've read in ages.

Was Jeff Dahmer giving props to the people he murdered when he ate them?

Photo Trip Report: Two Trips To Walt Disney World
ginzo replied to ginzo's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
We wound up doing two character breakfasts in our 5 days at Walt Disney World: Crystal Palace and 'Ohana. Crystal Palace was definitely the better meal as it was a surprisingly fresh and comprehensive buffet. Unfortunately, I didn't bring my camera to that. I did, however, take a few shots at the 'Ohana character breakfast, which I remember most for the excellent OJ blend that I now forget what it was exactly. And here is the train. I'll post the final update soon. Big Thunder Mountain as seen from the Liberty Square Riverboat. A bridge at Tom Sawyer Island. A raft at Tom Sawyer Island as seen from the Liberty Square Riverboat. I still need to actually go over there some day. FAIL! Call me a nit picker, but what is the excuse for this? A nice little tribute to the man who actually built Walt Disney World. Big Thunder Mountain Railroad as seen from the Walt Disney World Railroad. Call me crazy, but I really enjoy this ride. It has a never ending amount of details to notice as you ride it again and again. I actually prefer it to Expedition Everest. Liz and the Captain. Help! I'm being attacked by the worst attraction in all of WDW. Actually, I don't really know that because I haven't even tried the Stitch attraction. Stitch attacks Liz. Stitch attacks my brother. -

Crazy, I thought the exact same thing even before I read your caption! Nice to see some behind-the-scenes stuff of EPCOT. Yeah, I was going to take a bunch more pictures, but my camera's battery died about halfway into the tour. -

Here are a few more shots: This is where they should throw the parents who turn their savage children loose on the nicer WDW restaurants to ruin your $200 dinner while they chug 5 bottles of wine. Living with the Land. Coming in at something like 800 pounds this pumpkin could get a free lifetime membership to ACE. The John Holmes edition. Our tour guide. She was a professor at some area university, but I forget which one. This was a very informative tour, but a bit on the nerdy side. It's not going to be fun for the regular theme park attendee. Not-so-hidden Mickey inside the Land. Liz holding a Mickey-shaped pumpkin during the EPCOT Behind The Seeds tour. I love the long monorail run from the TTC to EPCOT so much that I took it in lieu of just making a quick drive from the lodge over to EPCOT. This turned out to be poor timing because we wound up being late for our tour at EPCOT. This baby elephant was a lot cuter in person. I know Disney is all about themed attractions, but I think the story about poachers going after the baby elephant is really lame. Why not just settle for having a really awesome safari ride? Maybe throw in a little bit of educational stuff about the species you're encountering. This tree looks sinister to me. Like there should be several hundred carnivorous birds perched on it ready to eat your eyeballs out. I don't know what it is with me at the birds at WDW, but I thought these guys looked cool. This was my first ride on the Animal Kingdom safari ride. It was very nice, but the bumps made photography a challenge. -

Definitely the latter. I have a habit of taking stupid pictures of her in queue because I'm bored. Though this one wasn't in a queue. -

Yeah, the sad thing is the park typically brings huge crowds. That's one of the main reasons I didn't renew my season pass. I'll put up with mediocre coasters just to get out of the house, but I draw the line at waiting an hour to ride them. Also, my wife is the world's biggest KI hater. I should get that on video some time. It's pretty funny. -

So our second trip to WDW was in January. We spent 5 days at the resort and stayed at the Wilderness Lodge. This was quite a nice hotel. The lobby area was especially impressive. The boat service to the Magic Kingdom was great as driving to the park is a big pain IMO. Anyway, here is the first round of pictures: I took like 300 pictures of this thing and still failed to get a great shot. The mountain from EE is cooler anyway. Is that a 69? The red birds decided that the green birds don't get to have all the fun. Doggie style. More bird porn! Hey, get a room you two! Nobody told these birds that Animal Kingdom is a family park. Liz & Pal Mickey. WTF happened to her hand? Since we didn't get to see B'rer Rabbit at Splash Mountain, here's a substitute rabbit from back at the lodge. Splash Mountain was closed for all of January for maintenance. This is why they call it "value season". I was disappointed about this as this is probably my favorite WDW attraction. This is the dock behind the Wilderness Lodge with boat service to the Magic Kingdom and the Polynesian. The wilderness theme holds up quite well here as it looks like you're in the middle of nowhere. As you can see, there was no line of people waiting to get on the boat because WDW is pretty dead in January. -

What a pretty park. If only they were more friendly to TPR. -
The situation with this ride reminds me of back when I used to play console RPGs. There was always debate about whether linear or non-linear RPGs were better. In terms of linear games, you'd have stuff like Final Fantasy 7 where you felt somewhat like you were just mashing a few buttons in between FMV segments. Non-linear games tended to be more open ended, didn't tell much of a story, and often had no real ending. Disney, it seems, has fallen into the trap of making TSM a bit too non-linear. In trying to make a dynamic, open-ended attraction that keeps the guests coming back for a unique experience, Disney has sacrificed a quality and immersive experience for the sake of flexibility. Did they ever take a step back and think "we're spending $70 million to just run people through a bunch of TV screens"? With MiB just across town, why is Disney trying to put out an obviously inferior interactive dark ride some 8 years later?

Too many complaints about Disney?

Well, you'd at least never run out of stuff to read. 99% of the time I regret it when I read comments on news stories, YouTube videos, etc. They're just so bad most of the time. YouTube comments are especially frightening and make me wonder about the human race in general. Very true, but I just don't know how much rambling and pointlessly tearing down of my work I'd be willing to put up with. Maybe just frequenting the sites that have the better posters would be a good way to go. -

Much of the criticism doesn't come off as "here's a great idea for improving the ride", but rather as coming from rabid half-literate nut cases who believe Disney hasn't made anything good for the last 20 years and are looking to rip into everything they build now. How you present yourself counts for a lot in how seriously you are taken. If I were at WDI (fat chance), I wouldn't waste my free time reading page after page of insane rants composed by people with writing skills to match my 11-year-old brother. -

But they do sometimes listen to guest complaints. Magic Kingdom has that crappy version of Pirates because they got a lot of complaints about the lack of Pirates in Florida. -

This is probably true on some levels, but they also built TDS in the past decade. That's got to count for something. -
Coasters and Open Heart Surgery
ginzo replied to JNoonez's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Wow, you've had a rough couple of weeks. Glad you're on the mend. A few things: 1) Problems with the aorta are among the most serious medical problems that people can have. If it does rupture, the prognosis is not good. 2) Follow your cardiologist's orders to the letter. With the issue of roller coasters, he may just not know and would prefer to err on the side of caution. There is almost *zero* medical research on how coasters affect the human body. I think there have been like 2 studies in the last 20 years or something, according to an article I read in JAMA not too long ago. http://www.or-live.com/HealthEast/1449/event/webcast.cfm? At about 45:30 someone asks if brain aneurysm patients should avoid roller coasters. But they're talking about brain aneurysms, NOT aortic aneurysms. The aorta is under a lot more pressure than any other blood vessel, so the rules might be different. If I were you, I'd just err on the side of caution and avoid coasters for the time being. -

Why deal with the park at all? Your brother should take this up with Six Flags corporate. He should also file BBB complaints and do every other annoying thing he can think of. BTW, that security idiot sounds like mall ninja. -

Kennywood already has something Cedar Point doesn't have: charm. I honestly wouldn't want Cedar Point to install a dark ride because I wouldn't want to wait 8 hours to ride it. -

Zoomers Amusement Park given new lease on life
ginzo replied to BarryH's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I just took that article at its word and do not care about the current price of steel. The point is there's no way these bozos carried out tens of thousands of pounds worth of track. At your price, it would still be about 14 tons worth. Did they bring a crane or something to move all that steel? -

Zoomers Amusement Park given new lease on life
ginzo replied to BarryH's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Something about this story isn't adding up. Where does the $10,000 figure come from? Is that the scrap metal value or the value of that portion of the ride? It can't be the scrap metal value because there's no way these bozos stole 91,000 pounds worth of coaster track (assuming $0.11 per pound value).
