I'd love to, but we're doing the Europe tour instead. Only have so much vacation time and money. -

I didn't walk either. And commencement was yesterday. I just didn't feel like bothering with it. -

I'm not worried. Van Damme is on the job! -
Great Adventure or Cedar point

Yes, because coasters always give the same ride no matter what. And different sized/shaped riders get the same ride as well because all restraints are universal and fit all riders equally well. -

It is very uncomfortable, the seats are the biggest penis pinchers I've ever seen. It doesn't track well, especially at the turn around. And I think the airtime is greatly overstated. The way the seats are arranged I didn't get ejected from my seat as much as bashed in the legs by the restraints. Painful? Probably not, but I do think it's a big Yugo of a coaster that should be replaced with a modern hyper coaster. -

Horrible Park Operations
ginzo replied to pgathriller's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Maybe they could build a combination Q-bot/Taser. I don't doubt that SFOG has clientèle problems. Two incidents come to mind: 1) The brutal beating at the bus stop outside the park that multiple EMPLOYEES were accused of taking part in. I believe that occurred last year. 2) The shooting in the parking lot in 2006 where the idiot shot the wrong people. SFOG is still one of the nicer Six Flags parks in terms of coasters and just overall niceness of the facility. I think you can work around the above problems by either going early in the season (as I did last year) or, as Erik said, simply renting a Q-bot. -

They need to get Van Damme back in there. He can fix it. -

Apart from the lost credits, they were probably doing you a favor there. -

I just called CP guest relations and that did not help clarify matters. She said that the web site is absolutely up to date with their current policy, but then shifted gears and said that they tend to close more for wind than for rain. And that they run rides "when it's safe". She suggested calling the park the day of to see what's open, which isn't much help if you're traveling some way and already have your airfare/hotel/etc booked. -

^^O RLY? This might be true, but they didn't bother to update their site to this effect. http://www.cedarpoint.com/public/news/faq.cfm?current_root=238#faq_74 Do you have anything to show that they changed the policy? -

It's not erring on the side of caution: it's just plain dumb. As long as there is no lightning, what's dangerous about running one train in the rain? Ever heard of "City Walk"? Except for seeing a first run movie or drinking at one of several bars, you're totally right. -

Yeah, shutting down the park every time it drizzles is great customer service. While I do agree that it sucks that Great Adventure doesn't have on-property resorts, Cedar Point is not exactly a leader in this arena either. Breakers is a very clean 1 star hotel at 3 star prices with subpar dining options and nothing to do at night after the park shuts down. I'm sorry, but when I can stay at Royal Pacific at Universal Orlando for LESS than Breakers, something is VERY wrong. Not to mention the fact that Breakers is poorly maintained with frequent power and hot water outtages. The beach? Yeah, it looks kinda cool, but who actually swims in Lake Erie? *shudder* -
TPR Members Working At Parks
ginzo replied to BrownStreak's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Dude, my hat goes off to you for not taking their crap. I'm quite impressed that someone of your age has the cojones to stand up to a big company and tell them where to stick their lies. I'm kind of puzzled as to why they would write up a *contract* that they have no intent of following and then giving you some BS about them not being able to run the park. Are we to expect to believe that when CP signs a contract with a company they don't expect that company to live up to the terms as stated in the contract? This sounds like a scam where they put the names of big rides on everyone's contract to con them into working for them and then sticking them with whatever crap job once you get there under the assumption that young people are dumb and can be pushed around. Again, GREAT JOB!!!! -
Great Adventure or Cedar point
ginzo replied to Sephiroth77's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
For me, it's easily Great Adventure. I greatly prefer the coasters at Great Adventure and it has the advantage of being not Cedar Point. Maverick is my favorite steel coaster, but El Toro is my favorite overall. And the supporting cast of coasters at Cedar Point just doesn't do it for me. Cedar Point might have better flats, but they certainly don't have an exceptional collection of flats like Knoebels or IB. And Great Adventure's parachute ride counts for a lot. Also, Great Adventure sells Gold Q-Bots, which transform an otherwise busy and intolerable park day into a really awesome time. When you go to CP you have to sacrifice a few goats to Shiva in the hope that most of the major coasters aren't going to have 2-3 hour queues. -

Do you really think they intended to deceive about the ERT, knowing that they'd have to deal with a ton of guest complaints? That doesn't make a lot of sense to me. As for the drop angle, maybe that was part of one version of the specs, but got changed for some technical or budgetary reason. Did Cedar Point lie when they said Maverick was going to have a heartline roll? -

Who cares??? Just be glad they built you something good for a change, unlike the crap machines they usually construct up there. -

That kind of sucks that opening day was so slow. Let's hope that word of mouth picks up on this. Waldameer is a great little park. I can't wait to ride RFII one week from today. -
What's wrong with Mean Streak?
ginzo replied to dammie16@vt.edu's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I'm pretty sure that Predator is worse. Villain is definitely a bottom 5 coaster though, joining the ranks of such notables as Mean Streak, SOB, and GhostRider. -
I'll be on tonight and would love to play with fellow TPR members.

Sure would be nice if they'd get it going this year. I'm holding out on my next visit to Knoebels until they get it up and working.
