  1. According to that article, 80% of the budget goes to police and firefighters. Doesn't sound like big government social programs are their problem. They're just getting hit hard by the economic downturn, as many municipalities are.
  2. When you go, don't end up like this guy: http://www.voice-online.co.uk/content.php?show=13029 Stupid, stupid laws in the UAE, but that guy was equally dumb for going against them.
  3. Of course they didn't answer the real question: will these parks have free beer? Signs point to no. Nevertheless, a new Busch park is always a good thing.
  4. That doesn't make any sense. You have to add up the entire cost of the experience (parking, admission, concessions) to make a real comparison. Knoebels may not be cheap, but they offer a lot for the money. And their policy of allowing non-riding guests in for free is really awesome. Let's face it: non-riding guests get screwed at the vast majority of amusement parks because they get basically zilch for their admission.
  5. Knoebels Wrist Band w/wooden coasters $37 Clementon Amusement Park General Admission $32.99 + tax And Knoebels basic ride wrist bands are $29.50. Who is overcharging?
  6. Lame!!! I was planning on hitting Knoebels on Memorial Day weekend. Guess that's probably not going to happen now.
  7. According to MouseSavers.com (a pretty good source on Disney), the HoJo in the Anaheim Resort is an exceptional deal. Nice hotel, reasonable rate (~$100), free parking, walk to Disneyland. http://www.mousesavers.com/hojo.html Someone correct me if this is wrong, but I generally trust that site.
  8. Considering the height of the midget, this takes on a whole new meaning. Therefore, I'd probably defer to the SLC's beating. Just barely though. He'd have a chair to stand on you sick-o. And my vote is still for the midget. midgets > all Marketing people can't resist stuff like that. I can't imagine even the GP care much about the difference between 13 and 14 coasters.
  9. The plaintiffs in this case were real douche bags for suing when they don't even have plans to visit the resort. Get a life already.
  10. About what's going down in the year 2012, nothing. They did not have Flight Deck. So, they can't possibly foretell the future.
  11. I rode Thunderhawk last year and it was a total POS. Paying a midget to beat guests in the head with a hammer would be a better addition to the park.
  12. Wes, you're being a jerk. What about the families who saved up all year, but can't afford Nostradamus? How is that fair to them? Whatever happened to everyone being equal?
  13. Basically, you just increase the exposure time to make the coaster train look like a blur. The thing is the camera has to be absolutely still for the entire shot for this to work right. A tripod works best for this. Alternately, you could just put your camera on top of something like a trash can or fence post in lieu of a tripod.
  14. Sure he was. He claimed to have an ability that no human possesses. He was just smart enough to obfuscate his predictions.
  15. Congrats Diablo.
  16. Don't go all victim on us. Nobody is attacking your religion. It's just that Nostradamus is an obvious fraud. Anyone with the remotest inclinations of rational skepticism knows this.
  17. Apparently you haven't studied enough to know the indisputable fact that Nostradamus is BS. Go read James Randi. http://www.randi.org/encyclopedia/Nostradamus.html
  18. Maybe I'm the only one that thinks this, but I actually hated the Haunted House at Knoebels. It just felt cheap and rushed, and the gags, I thought, were mediocre at best. I much preferred ones like Phantasmagoria at Bell's, and the ones at Lake Winnie or even Conneaut Lake. Personal preference I guess. It is rushed, but it's the only dark ride that has put me on edge. The gags are corny, but that kinda goes with the genre. Is it "OMG Best Dark Ride Ever" like DAFE claims by having it be #1 in their survey every year? Hell no. I really like cheesy old dark rides. I wish there were more and that the few remaining ones were better maintained. It seems like a lost art almost.
  19. Comparing classic dark rides to these behemoths that cost 100x as much is hardly fair. And some plain old dark rides, like the one at Knoebels, put on an excellent show.
  20. If I were the CEO of SIX, I would take out the Tilt-A-Whirl.
  21. How about bashing Cedar Point instead? Your meter is broken. He wasn't joking.
  22. I take it you've never been to Clementon.
