  2. Is it too soon? Not at all. Will I go see it? Not at all. The publicity of the movie itself keeps the story alive. I'm not much of a movie fan to begin with, I certainly don't want to experience the horrific final moments of that flight. (I personally think it's kind of tacky actually, permission or no permission.) Dennis "is drinking wine, and is not responsible for his opinions".

  4. Hey Robb, Your DVD's seem to freeze up on my new laptop, with similar results as explained above. PowerDVD and WMP will start, play for a couple minutes, skip a bit, then just shut down. And it won't recover unless ejecting the disk all together. It's like your disks are very "resource hungry". I have also noticed that I have a similar problem with Tommy&James' DVDs, which seem to be made in a similar fashion as yours. Normal "major motion picture" disks play just fine. I had to borrow a couple to test, just to make sure it wasn't my new laptop. (I don't own any DVDs yet!) Here's some info that may help you out in finding a problem. I am NOT looking for replacement disks, since I have watched them successfully on a portable DVD player.   5. Sounds like you'd be better off having someone install a firewire port for you. All computers can be taken apart, it's just knowing each company's trick. (And some of them, like dell, like to trick DIY'ers into either paying some professional, or breaking their systems to pay dell more to fix it.) Dennis "hates retail computers"
  6. I haven't read motley in a long time, because of their tabloid-tactics. Heck, if I remember correctly, it was a coaster story a couple seasons ago that turned me off the site.
  7. If you go to the entrance of Lost Kennywood, they have pictures just under the Phantom's lift. That's about all you'll find as far as a museum. It is odd that a park with such history doesn't have one. As far as the park itself, a few of the rides are classics, but the dark rides have all been redone in the past few years, so you're not going to get that historic feel in Noah's Ark, or the Old Mill. (Now called Garfield's Adventure) The only true Classics left at the park are the Kangaroo, Turtle, Merry Go Round, Racer, Jack Rabbit, and Thunderbolt. (You can also count the train, but the scenery has changed also...) Some of the Kiddieland rides are classics as well, and definately worth the walk-thru. Hoping to make a trip up there this year.

  9. OK, my opinion here is kinda far fetch, since I've never experienced this ride/queue myself... Could part of the problem be that many people don't actually know what the ride is? We as enthusiasts know it's a centrifuge. But because of Disney magic, I'd assume the GP doesn't know. (I dunno the set up, not sure if it's obvious once you're ready to board the ride...) With this scenerio, many people would ride it, thinking it's just a dark ride/motion sim, but if they knew what it was, less people would ride it, especially those who wouldn't never go near these kind of rides. Just a thought.
  10. ^, nah, RCDB is an awesome resource that almost everyone loves, and could never be replaced. WIKIPedia is a community encyclopedia, thats been around awhile, that is finally coming of age. If anything, WIKIPedia will be a great asset to enthusiasts in addition to RCDB, since WIKIPedia will list information not listed or irrelevant to RCDB. I think there's pleanty of room for both.

  14. Hey Robb, a little tip for ya, I used to do this on one of my portal sites. My biggest complaint was that the URL was too long to type on a phone, so I did an html forward... example... I would make an html file that forwards to this actual script. Put it in your root. (http://themeparkreview.com/a.html is a great example, or if you have a smaller domain name, it helps out a lot when you try to push a feature such as this.) PS. works fine here.

Here's a little info on Huss Tristar.... http://www.flatrides.com/Ride%20Index%20Pages/tristar.html The ride pictured in the link above resided at Kennywood for one season, (I think in 1991, and back then, it was a used ride.) and then was put in storage, then reborn as the Trinado @ it's sister park, Idlewild. These aren't new, but they are fun, mild rides.
  16. That's because the AVI format was only designed for a 1GIG max size. It's been updated since via individual software vendors, but if the drive itself is relying on windows resources and drivers, I'm not sure M$ have updated it themselves, this may be the "root" of the problem. (No puns intended... LOL)
  17. there are 2 major methods of copying files. (You want to copy them, not move them.) Which ever method you are using, try the other method... method 1:Drag-n-drop onto drive method 2: highlight your file, right click, select COPY, then go to your external drive, right click, then paste. They do the same thing, but they do it via different ways. Also, only do one file at a time. This sounds like you may have a resource issue. Just a suggestion, Hope this helps you out.

  20. Japanese building codes are MUCH more strict than in the US. And companies are held more accountable for their products there. I'd just readily assume they cut costs to build coasters in the US.
  21. Darnit, I miss the Florida trip, and now I miss this! I'm terrible for scheduling vacations. LOL Hope everyone has fun, this sounds like a once-in-a-lifetime event! Can't wait to see the TPR footage!

  24. Stratosphere was actually designed for one ride, and the ride orginally planned for it didn't make it, and was replaced with Big Shot and Let It Ride! (I'm sure you knew this, just being trival... )
  25. I thought visionland was some park in Asia. Who knew!
