Best time to go to Cedar Point?
Reality15 replied to mimic2g's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
The first few weeks of the season are great, especially during weekdays. Other good times to go are Bonus Weekends in September, or Fridays/Sundays during Halloweekends. Make sure to stop by and say "Hi!" to me on Maverick! -
Nice photos and video. I really wish I could get down there and ride it this year, but it looks like it'll be a few more years before I get my chance.

"You stepped over the line!" That is definitely my favorite part of the entire movie. Jackass 2 is an amazing movie, I watch it over and over again and still laugh my ass off.

Hey Elissa, can I have the title "Maverick Ride-Op" please? Thanks!

imdrunk, Maverick will be open for opening day, so you shouldn't have any problem at all getting on it for your visit. Keep in mind it may have a large line, so get there right when the park opens to beat the crowds! One strategy would be to park back by Soak City and then go in the entrance gate under Magnum, that will put you closest to Maverick. Just trying to help out. Everybody better say "Hi!" to me when you ride it this summer. -
Back to the Future is History
Reality15 replied to thefitness's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
The Back to the Future ride was always the one thing that I wanted to ride throughout my childhood. I didn't like roller coasters, I didn't like spinning rides, I just wanted to ride Back to the Future. Luckily I got there in 2000 and got to ride it finally. Sad to see it go, but I know that Universal will put in something cool in its place. -

Training will start soon, "by the end of the week", so I've heard. I'm sure we'll hear all about it sometime next week in OnPoint or via a new PointCast. -
And neither are open on Monday/Tuesday, unfortunately. Maybe I should just save my money and not go on the extra trip. EDIT: Looks like all plans are off. I got hired at Cedar Point on Maverick for the summer. Can't wait to get started, either.

Yeah, I guess they are pretty much the same distance (11 hours). Going to SFGAdv could include a stop at Kennywood, too, which would mean nearly 20 new coasters for me. Are both of these parks open daily in early May?
-
The only problem with a SDC/CC trip is the amount of driving. It's a full day of driving just to get to the area and another full day back. That's definitely a possibility of a larger trip hitting some more parks on the way there, however. What other parks are near SFGAdv? I've already hit Hershey, Dorney, and Knoebel's. Are there any other "not-to-miss" parks over there. I mean if Joe says Great Adventure then there must be something about the place that makes it amazing. Right now my dates are looking to be around the beginning of May, and not many parks are in daily operation by that time, too, so that's one of my setbacks.

Hogarth, I actually thought about doing the Cedar Fair "Ohio Circle Tour". Because I have the season pass, it would only cost me gas and hotels for two nights. Carnage, the Wisconsin Dells is part of the SFGAm trip, which will also include the MoA and Valleyfair. Plus the Dells are very expensive as far as accommodations go.

I'll be at Great America in July for a family vacation, and I was just at Holiday World last year. Kennywood is definitely an idea. I've never been there and seen as how I like older parks, it might be the best choice.

Hey Robb/Elissa/Forum Members, I'm working on planning a small two-three day trip to hit one really amazing park (or possibly two smaller parks) somewhere away from where I live (Michigan). It has to be a small trip like this because I'm on a $500 budget and I don't have that good of a car. I'm really having trouble trying to decide what parks I might like best and I'd like some feedback from you guys. Here's a few I was considering: Dollywood - I'm a big fan of wooden coasters, so Thunderhead is the big draw for me. Not to mention the opening of Mystery Mine kind of makes this park one I'd like to go to. Unfortunately, the con would be that this might be where my family will be going for vacation in 2008. Six Flags Great Adventure - Of course the big draw on this one is El Toro. Also there's the fact that there's some really nice coasters there that I've never been on (Nitro, Batman clone, Medusa). The only problem with this is... is $500 worth a one-day trip to the park? Indiana/Ohio Tour - This one would include Cedar Point, Kings Island, and Indiana Beach. The upside to this one is that I own a Cedar Fair Maxx Pass, so it's cheap, and I live within five hours of each of these parks. The downside is I've been there, the only new credit would be Firehawk, and I really didn't like Indiana Beach all that well the last time I was there. So yeah, basically, I'm just asking for a little bit of advice. Like I said, I live in Michigan, so anywhere like Texas or California is WAY out of the question. But really, I just need all the advice I can get. Thanks guys, -Jon "Reality" Roost P.S. - this will be in May, I might add, probably on Memorial Day weekend or that following week.

Re-Organizaing TPR's Front Page
Reality15 replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Yeah, I must say, I like the search box on the top of the page like that instead of in its own column. Other than that, I love the change, really. Makes it a lot easier to get to what you want. I've never figured it out though... what is the font you guys use? -
SOB New Trains from Myrtle Beach
Reality15 replied to verticalzero's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Villain has two Gerstlauer trains and Raging Wolf Bobs has two (one being a former Villain train, the other being the former Legend train). I'm pretty sure they're not going to Geauga Lake, they have enough of those darn trains there. -

Reality15 replied to verticalzero's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
http://www.rcdb.com/ig595.htm?picture=18 There's a good photo of the Hurricane's G-trains. They look to be similar to what used to run on Legend (now one of Raging Wolf Bob's trains) as compared to the ones that run on Villain and Cheetah and a few others. I give Cedar Fair props for trying to fix it and get it open, but this isn't the way to fix it. They're going to take a bad ride and make it even worse. I give it one season, maybe two at the most before this sucker's done for. -
I have a feeling you're heading down to that area for spring break just like I am. Since the only park I'm heading to is Busch, here's my advice: see if you can find a Florida resident to buy your ticket (and then pay them back). That alone will save you $10, bringing the price back to $52 to get in. Other than that, if you hear of any good deals for Busch, let me know, cause I'll be down there on Monday/Tuesday.

We only got 4 more inches of snow instead of the predicted foot! Yay!

How did you end up here???
Reality15 replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
A long time ago a friend was looking at Robb's site on Geocities, and I've been hooked ever since. -
It's over. Great job screwing up, Bears... you blew it. UGH. Today is a sad day.
-
Yeah, just wait till the Maw. The flood is EASY on level 7...

...Jahan, for some reason I can't see that one working too well. I wore a Free Hugs shirt around campus today. I totaled 26 hugs. Not bad for the start of the Free Hugs campaign in West Michigan.
