  1. I think this might be a permanent change to how I answer my phone. Idea for how we start the podcast, Derek? lol
  2. Big Mike, you NEVER fail to disappoint! Can't wait to see even more PTR's coming from you, and hopefully yourself if the BMRS'09 stops up at Michigan's Adventure.
  3. Yes, it is. Kristen Stewart plays Bella in Twilight and Em in Adventureland.
  4. It looks interesting. I still thing he should have worked in rides, because everyone knows the best job at any park is ride operations.
  5. I'll give it a try. Sounds like an enormous amount of fun.
  6. I haven't gotten either of the RAW DVDs yet, but if you guys were to put out a defunct one, I would definitely buy it. I say it's a GREAT idea and can't wait to hear more.
  7. Funny that you mention BGE. The inspiration behind this park is actually Kennywood... something I would consider a sort of "traditional" look at BGE instead of the "themed" approach. Glad I've gotten the look that I was going for. The Old Mill, however, is about to be rebuilt. I just got about 30 old photos of the Kennywood original (and its various transformations), and realized what I built is very different than what it should look like.
  8. As you can probably tell, I took inspiration from Kennywood's Old Mill ride (before they turned it into Garfield's Nightmare. I tried finding a picture of the facade from those days, but couldn't come across one to recreate it. The back buildings are a recreation of an aerial photograph from sometime in the 50's. If someone finds more pictures of this ride, send me a link as I'd like to fix up this ride to make it look very similar!
  9. I spent a little time on the park today, so I have some new screenshots for everyone! Enjoy, comment, criticize, and let me know what you think!
  10. Wow, that's a huge park you've got going on here. The only criticism I could find is to watch the supports on the red hyper/giga. That's a LOT of supports for that track, maybe try splitting it up a little bit? Other than that, looks great, can't wait to see more!
  11. If you stick with that color scheme... -Yellowjacket -Sting -The Short Bus Alright, I wouldn't go with the last one, but the first two would be good names.
  12. Larry, Just so you know, Big Dipper at Michigan's Adventure doesn't have a sign. Neither do Corkscrew or Magnum XL-200 at Cedar Point. -Jon
  13. HISTORIC THEME PARK PREPARING TO OPEN FOR 2000 SEASON BOYD, MI -- Clean and friendly family fun will be the theme at Edgewater Park once again in the year 2000. One of Michigan's largest amusement parks, Edgewater Park, is getting set for yet another great season of wholesome family fun. The park has been a mid-Michigan staple since the 1895. "When visitors walk through the gates this year they will notice that we're still the same park we've been for the past hundred years," says park President and General Manager Jon Roost. "Whether it's a ride on the classic Thunderbolt or being flipped upside down on last year's Berserker, Edgewater Park, we are committed to being both a traditional and a modern park." Edgewater Park opened as a picnicing area just outside Holland, MI. The park is home to several traditional rides such as a 1920's carousel and a rare "Old Mill" water flume. In addition to the traditional rides, the park has many modern rides, including the 1997 inverted roller coaster, "Phoenix" and the 1999 "Berserker" thrill ride. "Every year we try to either add a brand new ride or bring back an old favorite. This year, we have begun work on a new car ride for the 2001 season and have refurbished several structures in the park. In addition, Phoenix will be getting a new coat of paint," said Roost. Edgewater Park will open for the 2000 season in the coming months. For more updates, visit our thread on the Theme Park Review forums. ========================= So, if you can't figure it out, I'm starting a new park named after the once-famous Detroit, MI park. Not much is done, as you can see, but I hope to get the 2000 season up available for download by the end of the month. I'll post more photos as I build more. In the meantime, comments and criticism are definitely welcome! -Jon Roost
  14. I just ordered a similar movie from Netflix a week ago and I loved seeing Kennywood back in the day. Glad I found this thread, you have some really amazing stuff in here! Can't wait to see what else you have in your retro VCR!
  15. Haha, no, don't think I'll be making the trip to ride it this year. I did that a few years ago during the Saginaw County Fair to ride the (now defunct) Zyklon at the fairgrounds. Kokomo's is even further from me than the fairgrounds, so it'll probably have to wait a little while. Funny thing is, I took a trip to Detroit and rode the three Python Pit coasters at the Jeeper's locations over there to get the rest of my Michigan coaster credits... and then the next day you posted that Serpent was open... I can't win. lol Thanks for the info!
  16. About time this thing finally got up and running. How much is it per ride?
  17. I have the same problem, just with XP. I would say try the Son of Beast trainer, but that leaves white glitches too often. If you find out how to fix this, let me know!
  18. That's my building in 2002 for you. I didn't know much about building a very good back then, and that's why the park is slowly getting rebuilt piece by piece. More buildings, themeing, landscaping, and other changes are being put in place as the seasons go on. By the 2015 season the park will be completely different. I've almost got the Lake Flyer done, and then a few other small changes are underway for the 2010 season. Hope to be done with 2010 by the end of the week.
  19. Park History 2002 The original release of Riverworld was in December of 2002, shortly after the game debuted. The park was based around four roller coasters: Scenic Railway, a 1918 custom-built side friction coaster; Riverworld Cyclone, a 1948 PTC wooden coaster; Boomerang, a 1991 Vekoma boomerang coaster; and the “new” Twistar, a Vekoma SLC. The park also featured several other rides, including a drop tower, shoot-the-chutes, and a carousel. 2003 For the 2003 season, Riverworld moved Splash, the Hopkins shoot-the-chutes ride, just north of the Scrambler, also unfortunately covering the helix turnaround of the Riverworld Cyclone. The move was to make room for a new ride for the 2004 season. In addition, deconstruction had begun on the Scenic Railway, which was becoming too costly to continue to repair. The 2003 release would be the final original release. 2004 In 2008, I decided to pick back up the 2003 version of the park and continue building the Riverworld series. For 2004, the park added a HUSS Top-Spin ride called Super Spin and continued deconstruction on the Scenic Railway. Not much was done as preservationists gathered funds to move the coaster to another location. The tunnel was removed from the Riverworld Cyclone and Twistar got a new queue line. 2005 For the 2005 season, the Falling Star was moved north of Super Spin. Deconstruction on the Scenic Railway was nearly completed, and a clearing was popping up just south of the Dog House restaurant. 2005 would be the final season for Splash as well as the original park entrance. 2006 In 2006, the park debuted a new pirate-themed waterpark, including two waterslides. The park also moved the Chaos ride north of Boomerang, and started deconstruction on Splash. Retracking of the Riverworld Cyclone was started and halfway finished. Late in the season, a fatal accident on Twistar led to its closure. 2007 After a major storm knocked out the turnaround on the Riverworld Cyclone as well as ripping up trees, combined with the accident on Twistar, major renovations were underway for 2008 and 2009. The turnaround on the Cyclone was rebuilt by Gravity Group as a temporary fix, and temporary queues were installed on the giant concrete pad formerly home to the Carousel, which was moved north of Falling Star. Deconstruction began on Twistar, which the park sued manufacturer Vekoma over. 2008 The 2008 season brought major changes to the Riverworld skyline. A new coaster, Ninja, was built on the former location of Twistar. An Intamin mega-lite, it filled the void created by not only Twistar but also the Cyclone closing. The Dog House was torn down to make way for new additions coming in 2009 and 2010. 2009 The most recent version of Riverworld is 2009, which brings even more changes to the park. The park won the Twistar case against Vekoma and was able to pay off Ninja faster than originally anticipated. A giant boardwalk is currently under construction on the former location of the Cyclone, where a new coaster from the Gravity Group is currently taking shape. To be called Lake Flyer, it will open in 2010 and feature two dips under not only the ground, but also the water. It will be the shortest Gravity Group coaster in length upon its opening.
  20. RIVERWORLD Welcome to my oldest and most recent creation, Riverworld. Riverworld was created in December of 2002 and first released on RCT2.com. It was my original “mini-park” and one of the first “sequential” parks for RCT2. Each year of Riverworld is meant to be a year of real-life time, starting with 2002. I decided to open back up the original Riverworld back in May of 2008 and get back to building, starting with 2004. Little by little each section of the park is receiving renovation to bring it up to date, including new rides, shops, midways, and more. I plan on continuing the series for as long as people are still interested. Check back here often as I will update this thread with announcements, teasers, new downloads, and anything else I can come up with off the top of my head. Enjoy, and please post lots of comments and criticisms! -Jon Downloads Riverworld 2002 - 2009 Pack Park Maps 2002 2003 2004 2005 2006 2007 2008 2009
  21. Hello everybody, I'm planning a trip to Six Flags Great America this upcoming weekend for the opening night of Fright Fest. We have our tickets and everything set to go, and have enough money left over between the four of us to get a four-person regular Flash Pass. I'm just wondering how exactly they work. I did a forums search, but it seems like a lot of the threads are from people who at least are usual Six Flags people, whereas I've had a Cedar Fair season pass since 2000. I know that you reserve your spot in line at the rides, but I still have a lot of questions. If anyone could help me out by answering these questions, I would REALLY appreciate it! 1.) How many rides can you reserve on a regular Flash Pass? I've heard everything from only one ride on a regular pass to up to four rides. 2.) How long after that time is up do you have before your ride time expires? For example, if we reserve a ride, and it's time comes up as we're out in the parking lot eating lunch, is it going to expire if we don't get there by a certain time? 3.) How do you reserve rides on the Q-Bot? Do you use the thing itself, or do you have to go to the ride entrances to reserve your spot? Thanks guys, I look forward to hearing what you guys have to say about these! -Jon "Reality15" Roost
  22. Keep me updated on the Michigan's Adventure possibility Big Mike. I might still be working there, but there's no harm in shamelessly promoting the Road Show should it come through my ride. Peace Big Mike, can't wait for more!
  23. I'm actually looking forward to this one a LOT, and hopefully it's open when i have time to go in two weeks. Not going to, more than likely, but I can hope.
  24. Hey Big Mike, looks like the Big Mike Roadshow is getting even more publicity, check out today's post in the Cedar Point OnPoint Blog! Next thing we know we'll be seeing you on TV!
  25. Nice pictures! I haven't been to Knoebel's since '05, and I keep saying the year they actually open the Turns I'm headed back. Looks like that won't be this year.
