I can't wait to hear more details on the Texas trip. Maybe I'll be able to afford a trip next year. -

So, I have to admit. My last day working on Maverick was two weeks ago, and already I miss the ride. I racked up 52 rides on it while working at the Point this summer, and I've realized it really is an amazing ride. And to those of you that said hi to me this summer, I love you. Fill all the empty seats. -
I've been using a Fujifilm FinePix A500 for a while now, but just got a Cannon C3 IS, and let me tell you, that camera is amazing.

Yes, FILL ALL THE EMPTY SEATS! I still regret that night, I have no voice because of it. -

That's the old G-train, too, not the one they got from Legend. I have a feeling they'll be down to one train operation for quite a while. -

Hey guys. The sound effect is ONLY when you are being launched out of the tunnel. If we're hitting interval with all six trains, that blasting sound could line up a little with the lift hill, but it's not supposed to. Trust me, the LSMs are really quiet (unless we're moving trains manually, then they make noise) and that sound is a sound effect that is made when we launch you. As far as fitting, it depends EXTREMELY on the person. Some of our "larger" guests can ride, some can't. Extremely tall people may have problems riding. People with long legs may have problems riding. My suggestion: TRY THE TEST SEAT. Seriously folks, there's nothing I hate more than seeing the look of disappointment when I have to release your restraint and ask you to leave. The test seat is there for people to make sure they can fit in the ride, not for me to sit next to, not for me to clean, and definitely not for people to sit in while we're broken down. Masked_Maverick, were you wearing a TPR shirt when you rode the other day? Definitely noticed you if you did, and I'm really sorry you couldn't ride. I wish you the best of luck with your goal of losing weight, and I encourage you to try again later in the year if you have a chance. Thanks again guys, we're off to another great week of operation on the ride (except for the weather, that's kinda been killing us), and I expect to see you all in my queue line! -Jon -

Wednesday I worked from 6:30 AM to about 3:30, and I honestly can't remember a large breakdown. So, today I definitely talked to Jeff in line when we were down for the weather the first time, had to go back up to the station, realized "duh, it's Jeff from TPR" and when I went back down to introduce myself and say hi, he was gone. So, Jeff, if you're reading this, sorry about the delay, nice to meet you, however. The sound you're hearing in the tunnel is NOT the LSMs. It's a sound effect that's supposed to simulate a "blast". No, it is not the same as the Dragster engine revving sound like some people think, it is a completely new sound effect. Once again guys, thanks for riding, make sure to say hi! -Jon -

scud/FeelTheFORCE, I work every position on the ride, it just depends on our rotation, so you'll just have to look at our nametags and see if it's me. There's not very many guys on our crew anyways. -

Hi guys, Jon here from the Maverick crew. Just thought I'd drop in on behalf of the crew and thank everyone that's ridden for making the way out to the park the past week and getting on the ride. We're sorry about any delays, but we hope the line's been moving fast and we're keeping downtime to a minimum. For those of you who haven't ridden yet, you need to. Yesterday was media day, which meant lots of enthusiasts were there to ride, and their opinion is the same as mine: Maverick is AMAZING. I've now been on the ride three times, once in the back during the day, twice in the front during the day, and once in the front at night, and every time I ride it I end up liking it more. This is easily one of the greatest coasters to be built in a long time. As far as some of the effects (mist in the tunnel, water bombs, etc.), we're working on it. That's all I can tell you is that things like the water bombs will be working or not working for a little while so we can test them and make sure they work properly. For example, yesterday the water bombs were working perfectly when I left, but we were also running semi-empty trains, so that's still something to work out. Hang with us for a little longer while we get these extra things working. Once again, thanks to all that have come out to ride it, and if you haven't yet, I expect you to at least give it a shot next time you're in the area. Oh, and don't forget to say hi to me, I don't bite. Thanks guys, -Jon Maverick Crew '07 -

Taking On-Ride Photos
Reality15 replied to rollercoastermayhem's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I've only ever been to two parks where I could film on the rides (Walt Disney World and Fun Spot in Angola, IN). After trying it a few times, I really don't see what the big deal with filming on rides is... you can get the same and usually BETTER shots from the public areas. But seriously, just call the park before you go and make sure it's okay before you even try it. I know I'm just repeating what everyone says, but being someone who's been hit by several objects flying off rides, PLEASE obey the park's rule, no matter how stupid you may think it is. -
It depends on when you're going. If you go in June during a weekday, you can hit everything in one day. If you go on a weekend in July or August, however, you might need three days just to see everything. I'd suggest June, and any day Sunday through Wednesday. Cedar Point has several on-site resort hotels as well as hotels on the mainland. There is also a huge tourism area just south of the park on 250. Toledo or Cleveland is your best bet. I like staying at Lighthouse Point, but that's cause there were a lot of us (6). For smaller groups, however, I recommend the old Hotel Breakers. Great views, VERY conveniently located, and not too expensive.

Personally, Voyage is too much for me. By too much, I mean it's SO good, but it's such a long ride. Now, I still consider it my favorite woodie, but I like to use the phrase "too much of a good thing." If you go for the back first, you're going to end up not liking every other seat. The best ride is in the back, in my opinion.

Let's see, the Maverick logo avatar that the park released as an avatar. You're telling me they don't want people to use it, um, okay... The park cares if it's illegal. Imagine you had a big $21 million project that you wanted to keep secret and some moron posted a video of it on YouTube... you'd be pissed, too. I wasn't complaining, I was stating that the video is illegal. I don't know what your beef with me is, but I'd ask that you stop trying to make me sound like a bad guy in this situation. -

Way to post illegal videos. You do realize that unauthorized vehicles are prohibited on Perimeter Road during the offseason, right, which means that whoever took that video did so illegally. Just saying, I'm surprised this and the other two leaked videos haven't been pulled from YouTube by the park yet. -
That's because there's no lines at Joyland cause it's that crappy of a park. Seriously, I really have to agree with the others in this thread. Pestering the government because your home park has problems and you're a fanboy is pretty stupid.

That's what I was wondering. I found this on another forum so thought I'd share the link. My guess is that Cedar Fair will have it removed, however, as soon as they find out that whoever leaked it.
