  1. Take it to Gold and Silver Pawn in Vegas.
  2. I disagree. Efficient marketing IS what brings in the money! Cedar Point wouldn't have spent so much time and effort marketing themselves as "America's Roller Coast, the Coaster Capital of the World" for all those years if it wasn't worth it and didn't produce a marginally decent ROI. Cedar Point is a resort destination that attracts people from all around the world, and I'd be willing to bet that the fact that they always broke records and had the most (albeit not necessarily the best) coasters in the world definitely attracted more people. I remember back when TTD was built, the park was overrun with hundreds of Japanese people who trekked thousands of miles to see the park that had the most coasters, and to try out the biggest and baddest coaster on Earth at the time. I thought I was at Disney World or even in a foreign country. It still amazes me how many people are still completely and utterly amazed by TTD, even a decade later. Every time someone I know goes to Cedar Point for the first time, or who hasn't been there in a while I always get the same reaction, "Have you heard about that Dragster ride?!! That thing's insane!!"
  3. ^ This is a quote from Steve after the same thing was said in this thread. I would consider him pretty well "in the know." I don't know if they are adding a kiddie coaster or not, but I was simply saying that it would make sense if they did in the Planet Snoopy area. I'm sure it doesn't take much planning at all to build a coaster that is 20 feet tall and under 500-600 feet long, if that's the route they are going. Either way, this just reaffirms that Cedar Point desperately needs some form of an indoor ride or dark ride.
  4. I could see them adding a new kiddie coaster in the vicinity of Planet Snoopy somewhere to balance it out a little bit, considering their other two are a hike away over by Gemini.
  5. Great trip report as always! Can't wait for the next one!
  6. I've always wondered this ever since Formula Rossa was built, and maybe someone can figure it out and answer it. This is a theoretical and hypothetical question, never mind about feasibility, cost, space required, etc. Say FR kept the current launch, but the rest of the layout was a TTD/KK clone. What would be the theoretical height of the tophat in which FR, traveling at 149 MPH, could clear? Is that speed enough for 500+ feet, or would it need to go faster?
  7. Leviathan at Canada's Wonderland on July 27, 2012.
  8. One can only hope for another Intamin like El Toro. The US could use another one.
  9. ^ Yeah, agreed. October doesn't seem unreasonable at all, and about on par with a lot of previous announcements, give or take (Maverick was announced in beginning to mid-September). That just gives them plenty of time to tease and build hype.
  10. The outer seats offer a unique experience in that they are "bouncy," and you can feel the chassis/frame flexing, but it is nowhere near "rough."
  11. I hear you, I had my first experience in my Camaro the other day, and it was near the local mall. Not surprising considering that's a popular hangout for most high school kids. It looked like a Nissan (definitely not a Maxima, though), but I couldn't tell for sure because it was de-badged, and did have a "fart can" muffler. He went flying past us (dad was driving), then slowed down to let us pass, then did it again. My dad didn't take the bait, but it was still hilarious to see what lengths people will go to get a reaction out of you. Yeah I don't even mess with bikes at all. I don't know much about them, but I know enough to back off, and that some of them can hit 200 MPH easily.
  12. I work 60+ hours per week and still have plenty of time to keep tabs on the latest CP and amusement park news...
  13. It is interesting reading on various car forums the different stories people have about other people on the road trying to "challenge" them to racing. Has anyone here experienced any idiots like these, and have any interesting stories? I have no experiences yet, but it's probably inevitable now with my Camaro. The best part will be ignoring them.
  14. I don't think it's because the train was launched too slow or the LSMs malfunctioned. If I am not mistaken, Maverick will encounter a rollback (on either the lift or launch) when the train ahead of it hasn't cleared the next block segment. For example, if the train waiting at the base of the lift hill starts too early, and the train ahead of it hasn't yet exited the tunnel below before it reaches the top, the computer will stop the train on the lift hill and it will slowly roll back to the starting position for a reset. The same applies to the train in the launch tunnel with the next corresponding block segment. Obviously in 2007 they were purposely doing this to make sure the system worked and the trains safely returned to be reset, but I believe that is why it sometimes happens during normal operations. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.
  15. I'm not a fan of Bieber's music, but I definitely respect him as a person. He started out as a nobody, and earned his way to where he is now through Youtube. If names like Timberlake and Usher were interested in signing anyone here to a contract, wouldn't everyone accept? I know I would.
  16. Probably for the best with 14m free and possibly more trades on the way. There are rumors swirling that they might even go after Suter also, and if he isn't available, possibly Dan Boyle and/or Keith Yandle. Some other rumors: -Luongo to possibly Florida, Toronto, or Chicago. -Jagr to Oilers. -Bouwmeester to Bruins.
  17. The Penguins are really cleaning house with Staal and now Michalek. They must be planning on making a huge splash on July 1st with Parise or someone else.
  18. ^ That is an awesome BMW! I hope you enjoy it (as I'm sure you will)! My dad and I pulled the trigger on this today. We've been wanting something for a while, and were looking at a few different cars (Challengers, Mustangs, GTOs, etc.), but went with the Camaro. We both really like it so far...extremely fun to drive! Who knew that a brand new 2012 model is only a few thousand more than a used 2010? The 45th anniversary edition touches are really cool too! 2012 Camaro 2SS M/T 45th Anniversary Edition
  19. Would anyone happen to know what "engine serviced" means on a Carfax report? Is it just scheduled routine maintenance, or something to really worry about? The car in question is a 2010, only has 7,000 miles on it, a perfect title, and has a spotless Carfax other than that.
  20. I wouldn't call it rough, but more like definitely being able to feel the frame flexing and "bouncing" on the outside seats. Like I have said, and many others have said, the outside is NOT your traditional coaster experience. It is insane, wild, and completely out of control! Anyone who has not ridden it yet, go into your ride with that mindset if you choose an outside seat.
  21. I thought it was the same rough and boring ride as last year when I rode it on opening day. I wish they would stop dumping money into this bottomless pit for temporary fixes and come up with a long-term solution already.
  22. Awesome job! I don't race because my Impreza is only a 2.5i so I would probably get smoked, but it would be something cool to try one day when I get something that can hold it's own. Also, looking good with that Grimmspeed relocation kit and RallyArmor flaps! If you do decide to invest in sway bars, RalliTek is definitely a good brand.
  23. I'm using a wireless connection and it's working fine for me.
  24. Awesome! I was disappointed when the Funcam one went down, now a new live one is up again!
