  1. Hard to believe it's been almost 9 years since construction first started on Maverick in 2005 when WWL was removed!
  2. Not only that, but the game has been in development for a few years, so a lot has gone into it.
  3. DisneyWizard, that's sad hearing what transpired involving your father. My father is 60, has had a heart attack and bypass surgery, and we are VERY cautious as to what he rides. Windjammers may have further aggravated your father's condition, but who says it wouldn't have happened, say, while he was outside doing yard work or exerting himself in a similar manner? I find it difficult to pin it directly on the park, as it could have occurred anywhere. If I'm not mistaken, most deaths involving the heart, the rider already had a (sometimes unknown) preexisting condition. That leads to my myth suggestion, the effects of rides and g-forces on the heart. I don't mean just pulse/heart rate, as we've seen many times already, but more specifically, how they can effect blood flow, blood pressure, the ability for your heart to effectively pump blood, ECG/EKC waves, etc. Possibly having two separate samples, one from a healthy person, and one from a person who has had a heart attack, bypass, heart disease, etc. Maybe even have an expert, such as a cardiologist, then weigh in with their opinions and scientifically compare the two. I feel this would be very useful information, considering how many incidents there have been involving people with previous and already existent conditions they were unaware of. Who knows, maybe it would save a life or two.
  4. Just an FYI for everyone with a Kickstarter account. I'm not sure how many people they sent this e-mail to, but I received one.
  5. All sales are final. The ticket you buy is technically good for any day of the entire operating season, so the park could argue that you are not restricted to certain days. I would wait until you get to the park to buy the Fast Lanes. It's rare that they run out, and if you are worried, make sure to get there at opening and buy them first thing...many places inside the park sell them. Check further back in the park if there is a line for them at a store in front. Worse comes to worse, if it rains nonstop the entire time you are there you could go to guest relations and voice your concerns, and they might give you a coupon or voucher for something, but I wouldn't count on that. Chances are, if you're going more than one day and getting Fast Lane passes you should be fine.
  6. The ROI probably isn't enough to keep them around. I'm sure the cost of fuel alone is probably enough to consider removing more.
  7. Not only that, but it depends which weekdays in May. A few years ago, Cedar Point caught on to the dead May days and added Math and Science Week, which causes the park to be packed with middle school kids for an entire week in May. It's usually the first week they're open, in mid-May or so. I'd steer clear of that week.
  8. There are supposed to be decent titles come spring and early summer. I'm waiting for Infamous and Watch Dogs. Xbox's are generally popular, but really old games. Recently I think Halo 3 and the original Gears of War were two of the free games.
  9. Is there a way to simply change a brake section into a transfer table so I don't have to delete it and add one?
  10. It could have been much better if they went with the original plan to wait another year and develop a new engine for the series. AC4 is built on the same engine as the ORIGINAL GAME. Pretty crazy how long it lasted. My guess is they wanted to get a game out for next gen at launch. I'm sure AC5 for PS4 and Xbone will have that new engine.
  11. AC4 is really good on next-gen. The enhanced visuals and more-constant realtime weather effects are amazing. This is easily my favorite AC in the series. Tons of freedom, the ship battles are done well, and there's a good amount of both land and sea gameplay. I'm also impressed with how historically accurate the game is (albeit having to add their own small story, considering the main character is fictional). My only qualm with it I would say is there are way too may "tail this guy" and "eavesdrop" missions.
  12. I think it does. Not that it makes it any better, but it is more intense. As with Magnum, sometimes it runs trimless, sometimes it doesn't (and sometimes the brake barely grabs you). It seems to run trimless more often now after that rollback a couple years ago. One coaster I REALLY like when the MCBR is turned off is Raptor. Makes for an awesome second half. Lastly, I know it has since been fixed, but I305. The only time I have ridden it was when the entire first drop was trimmed. I need to get back to KD.
  13. I would agree with every title, except Killzone. I own both next-gen consoles, a few games for both, and have beaten Killzone. It is MUCH more complete than any other next-gen game. There were actually a few times in the story where I thought it was going to end, but kept going. I was thoroughly impressed with the quality of it. Even if it weren't a launch title, it would still be a solid game. I still play the multiplayer a lot also, it's really fun.
  14. I always love the sight at the bottom of the lift hills on older wooden coasters, and seeing how crooked and uneven they are!
  15. That would be all well and good if every other coaster was running efficiently with a good crew, and the logic used behind management's decisions actually made sense. I know, a Flashpass would just solve that problem, right? I'm all for skip the line passes, but it sort of defeats the purpose when you're trying to gauge the amount of people in lines around the park, and what would normally amount to a 15 minute wait at any other park, ends up being over an hour at SFMM. Baffling!
  16. OMG, they had a ride down for a day due to technical difficulties and one of the least popular coasters in the park (out of 17) had one train running for whatever reason (probably one was getting rehab'd or had issues). How baffling! I guess I could say I'm a bit baffled at how they keep so many of their coasters running throughout the year! What? Lex was down the entire week I was there, plus however many days before/after. And didn't Scream just resume multiple train operations a couple months ago? That's, what, a solid 3-5 months of single train operations, most of which during the park's busiest times. I don't care what your opinion is on the ride's quality, Scream should be a no-brainer to run at full strength in MID-JULY, because of how many people it can potentially chew through. If that was directed at me, keep in mind that I'm referring to my visits which occurred back in mid-July, not some dead day in December.
  17. I simply don't get this at all. I have ridden both and find power tower to be great. Dr. Doom was boring and hardly packed a thrill. We are all entitled to our own opinion but I couldn't disagree more on this one. Really? Power Tower has barely any airtime at all when you reach the peak, causing you to briefly float, whereas Doom yanks you down when you reach max height. I haven't been on Doom since 2011, so maybe they lowered the intensity, but Power Tower was still mild as ever in September. It's still a fun ride that offers great visuals of Cedar Point, but it's lacking that extreme thrill factor and is too drawn out.
  18. 100% agreed. It still baffles me months later that, during my visit back in July, they would have one train operation on Scream and Lex Luthor closed. I planned my trip this summer with SFMM being the focus after my great visit back in 2006, and with Disneyland being just an 'add-on.' If and when I eventually return to California, DL will definitely be the focus, and SFMM the 'afterthought add-on' park.
  19. Agreed. I can usually handle intense rides, but not when it feels like your head is about to explode. I hope Cedar Point never gets a ZacSpin.
  20. ^ Apparently they lost power steering, as the skid marks were perfectly straight (no ability to swerve), and there was evidence of fluid on the ground before the site, along with evidence of the fire starting in the front of a rear-engine car. You don't need to be going that fast in a car made almost entirely of carbon fiber to get those results. Any impact will likely cause the car to immediately crumple.
  21. But this is my question. Is there an S&S coaster with a truly kickass layout? Not something that's completely average save for maybe one insane airtime moment that almost seems like an accident? Considering this will be unlike anything that already exists, that is a difficult question to answer.
  22. By the way I do have to admit that I'm not as excited about this as I should be since the coaster doesn't actually feature a 500 foot drop. I still find the "tallest drop" record more impressive. That's not to say this won't be awesome (the concept looks really cool), but there should be a separate category for "tallest coaster" and "tallest coaster drop". In the past they almost always went hand-in-hand but it looks like they won't anymore. That's pretty much what I was getting at. The fact that it's 500 feet, but won't have a 500 foot drop is underwhelming and feels like "cheating" to me. Similar to Formula Rossa immediately slowing down after the launch, and the Stratosphere rides that are the "world's highest thrill rides," which are fun rides, but would be kiddy rides if they were on the ground (i.e. Joe Cool's GR8 SK8 at KBF). Either way, I would still rather have those aforementioned above (and this new coaster) than nothing at all. It is what it is, and complaining isn't going to change anything. There are many great coasters that are smaller and have lower immediate height changes, so I hope the designers of this ride don't let up due to the fact that it's 500 feet and will attract people anyway. A truly kickass coaster with surprising elements and drops could potentially be created.
  23. Why? It's still held up by supports. The supports just have an observation tower on them as well as a coaster. I don't get all of the bickering over this. May as well just have a coaster run down the side of a 1,000 foot skyscraper at a slow speed and dub it as the "world's tallest coaster." I don't view this as being a *true* rollercoaster. It's almost like Six Flags claiming all of those records and firsts for a wooden coaster when NTAG was built.
  24. It feels as if achieving the height record in this way is like using cheat codes to do so.
