Cedar Point (CP) Discussion Thread
FeelTheFORCE replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
It could be something as simple as their marketing/business plan, and just wanting to just space things out a bit after Rougarou and Valravn. -

Like I've said before, I think CP needs to take a break from coasters. They've gotten a coaster or coaster transformation for each year since 2013! To be fair, before Gatekeeper, they had gone 6 years without any coaster, and even removed 2 in that span. That's very uncharacteristic for the "Coaster Capital of the World." I like the direction they've gone the past few years, they've played catch-up a bit, but have also drastically increased the quality of their coaster collection. -
Pokemon GO at Theme Parks!
FeelTheFORCE replied to Peeps28's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
For the record, I'm NOT against the new thing. I don't play the game, because I can't afford anything more than the iPhone 4S that I've had for several years. And I'm a Pokémon fan, too! Shame on me! I guess I'm just unsure about parks explicitly marketing themselves as places to play Pokémon Go - in fact, I'm not sure any place that charges an admission fee should have PokéStops or gyms inside the gates. The game is so much about community, and people who don't want to go or can't afford to go to these places might be left out. I'm not upset, just unsure. I'm probably crazy. EDIT: And I don't even intend to even THINK about purchasing the game (let alone a new phone for it) until I can catch a Wobbuffet, so... The parks didn't choose what areas were deemed Pokestops or gyms, so it's not like they're teaming up with Niantic to gain exclusivity to boost ticket sales...at least not yet. It's still early, but as far as I'm aware right now there isn't anything exclusive within any park that you can't collect/achieve outside of the park. Other than maybe bragging rights for certain gyms and staking claim to that territory for your team. Also, the game is free (with micro transactions). If you can, try to find a friend or something to play it a bit now while it's good, before it's ruined by ads and corporate partnerships! -

South Park craps over everything, and they do it so well that even if you're a huge fan of whatever it is, you can't help but laugh. -

How is that bad? Parks making more money = win. As long as they aren't breaking any rules, who cares? I feel as if all the people against this are the ones who just don't like to conform and would be against the "new thing," no matter what it was. People are finally going outside and becoming more active. -

If you get lucky, the rain might work in your favor and scare some people away. Either way, we're just about getting to the point in CP's season where it's always crowded no matter what. Your call. -

Black Widow's change of rotation puts you facing the same direction every swing. If you're staring at the sky on the first full upswing, better get used to it because that's what you're going to be looking at the entire cycle. MaXair gives you more of a variety of different angles & spots. -

I think it's more of everything that comes along with the coaster experience, like memories and such. It's natural for people to feel a bit sad when a part of their past is going away. Sure, coasters like Mean Streak suck, but I'll be honest, when riding those types with a large group of your friends, and you're all screaming in pain together, that makes for a hilarious memory. I'd rather be on the world's worst coaster, than be stuck at work behind a desk getting yelled at by my boss. You're not going to see me planting flowers and singing kumbaya when something is demolished, but in the end, a roller coaster is still a roller coaster. -

You're talking about on the initial lift hill or launch tunnel. I highly doubt they purposely valley the train mid-horseshoe roll in order to "practice." Two different procedures. -

Yeah, I've seen it twice as well. Not sure if they were the same two times, but they seem to have it down to a science now. -
Sorry, I still disagree. What if it rains one of those days? What if something is down all day that you really wanted to ride? What if you want rerides? The next day you can't make up any of that lost time because you're limited to only one park. Having the option to hop back and forth is maximizing your opportunities, and a lot less stressful trying to fit everything in. You can just enjoy the parks more instead of rushing around trying to do and see everything. Somewhere like Disney where the parks are more spread out, I agree, that's at least a 4-day trip. With Universal I don't see where it's a "waste of time." The parks are right next to each other, and it only takes a few minutes to walk over to the other park. I rode the train maybe twice each way just to get the experience, but never used it as my primary means to switch parks.

I disagree. The convenience factor alone is worth it, and it's much more than "just a fee to experience the Hogwarts Express." Every time I've gone, I've had the hopper and went back and forth between the parks quite a few times during the day, even before DA was built. I've never just stuck to one park all day. In my opinion, it's the way to go.

Hersheypark (HP) Discussion Thread
FeelTheFORCE replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Sounds like complaining just for the sake of complaining. Everything could be nitpicked to death if you really wanted to. Just enjoy the rides for what they are, and if you don't like them, then don't ride them. I'm just happy parks like Hershey take conscious efforts to try to improve the quality of my visit, even with low ROI investments. -

CP really has a winner on their hands. I only got one ride in the middle row on the far left, but it was awesome. I think the vests are a great touch and add to the first drop more than traditional OTSRs do. I was in the skeptical camp a bit because of how uncomfortable Gatekeeper's can be at times, but they seem to just "work" with Valravn so well. One random complaint I have is the price to food ratio at Chickie and Pete's. I get that everything is inflated at amusement parks, but $12 for a generic burger, that comes with nothing? I understand their fries are "famous" and they consider them an entree (at least that's what our waiter told us), but they can't throw in some chips or something? I never thought I'd say this, but I got more food for less money at the last Pens playoff game I was at....and that's including a $9 beer. -

Traditionally Mother's Day isn't too bad, but with great weather forecasted and a new ride, anything's possible. I'm guessing Fast Lane Plus will be needed. -

The line looks to be shorter than before, and the lot is only half full. Everything considering, that's not too bad. Millennium has been stuck on the lift for a while and the evac bucket has been going up and down. EDIT: The train started moving as soon as I posted this. -

Your best bet is probably Fast Lane Plus, but with the storms predicted, I don't know that you'll get your money's worth. I won't sugar coat it, opening day is usually pretty bad. Heavy crowds, and operations not quite that efficient yet. Maybe the storms will scare some people away, but I don't know. If you have a season pass, or are staying on site, definitely use early entry to it's fullest extent as well. If not, hit some of the less popular rides first, like Wicked Twister, Magnum, Gemini, Rougarou, MaXair, Power Tower, etc. Best of luck.
