  1. Green Lantern's S&S counterpart is basically identical in almost every way, offering the same horrible ride experience. I don't see one of those replacing GL, but as someone above said, it's Six Flags, they've done worse...
  2. At least I'll probably have a couple of hours to catch my breath after high-tailing it back there on rope drop.
  3. ^ I agree as well! As someone who also falls into that category of "might not be back for years," I needed every bit of 3 days at the end of July to leave SFMM feeling fulfilled. I would highly recommend more than 1 day also.
  4. You should be good with the Platinum Flash Passes, but bear in mind that on some rides you can only ride once with the pass. Most lines will probably be lengthy during that time of year. Crowds were very heavy when I was at SFMM around the same time a couple of years ago. They also had Lex Luthor closed the entire week for maintenance, and Scream was running one train, so that'll be a crap shoot. My best advice is prepare for the worst and don't get your hopes up for anything when it comes to SFMM, or you'll probably be disappointed.
  5. SFDK is definitely the better of the two parks, and would be my choice, but CGA is still a fun park with good rides that's worth a trip if you got the chance. I would even consider doing two days at SFMM around that time of year. It's possible you won't get to do everything.
  6. Congrats! Happy to be a part of this community throughout the years. Keep up the great work!
  7. Sounds like a cool project. I could see a nice boardwalk wooden coaster, dark ride, and/or wild mouse in the future to round this out and compensate for previous removals.
  8. I can understand during the summer when leaving the line open until park closing would mean the crew stays working until 2am or whatever, but closing at 5:30 instead of 6 seems like they're just stepping over dollars to pick up dimes.
  9. Cedar Point's "opening weekend" has been the first weekend in May the past few years, then closed the entire proceeding week, then beginning daily operation the next weekend. I would guess the park will be closed on May 7th & 8th.
  10. Awesome SFSTL report! I went last weekend and was very pleasantly surprised. Definitely a "hidden gem" of the SF chain.
  11. After finally riding my first RMC a few weeks ago (Joker), I'm definitely addicted. This company has been hitting homerun after homerun.
  12. Flight Deck at CGA this past Sunday. I love how close to the water you get!
  13. I was lucky to ride them when they were still dueling, and that was an experience in itself for sure, but the last ride I had on Dragons was on Fire in September 2014 during a downpour, and it was probably the most (unexpected) insane ride I've ever had on any coaster. The Dragons will be missed for sure, I'm sad to see them go.
  14. I rode once in the back, and it was very rough. so although I did ride GK multiple times thruout my visit, it was always in the front, and had a smooth, wonderful ride. I hear you, the back can be hit or miss. Sometimes on the outsides I can feel the "bouncing" due to the steel support arms under the seats flexing. That isn't fun, especially when you've already got a headache on a hotter day.
  15. Not many rides give me that stomach in my throat feeling anymore, but Gatekeeper is one of them, especially in the back. I love me some quality Gatekeeper rides.
  16. Dragster had issues on Sunday as well. I rode it early on, but about halfway through the day it went down for a bit. There were mechanics walking along the launch messing with the electrical boxes. Nothing really out of the ordinary though. It opened back up and all operations seemed to be in mid-season form. Kudos to all the CP ops. Going back to the rollback talk a few pages ago, on one of my rides last year I thought for sure it was possible. There was one section of the magnetic brakes towards the end of the launch that were constantly stuck in the up position. I thought it was interesting how, not only were they still launching trains, but it didn't seem to have much effect on how the trains were clearing the tophat. Although you could feel them on the ride for sure. The train rocked pretty violently over that section.
  17. I've seen tons but have yet to experience a rollback. Maybe someday!
  18. Counting the amount of roller coasters you have ridden is just a fun way of keeping track of your hobby. I honestly don't care if someone counts sliding down their stairs in a cardboard box as a credit. I can see both sides of the argument for Mantis and Rougarou, and there's no real answer. At the end of the day the whole point is to have fun with your hobby, and if someone wants to count them both, who are we to judge anyway?
  19. It's all up to you, really. Highly debatable, though. I can see the arguments for both sides.
  20. Or they want to market and advertise the "topping off," but now is not the time to do that.
  21. I never cared for it either. I'd come off in intense knee pain because they would be pressed up against the seat the whole ride. I've always though Cedar Point could use a modern wild mouse style coaster.
  22. Opening day is definitely not comparable to a normal weekday in June. Expect slower operations and frequent breakdowns also due to the workers getting used to everything.
  23. Those who have been on RMCs, do they tend to maintain their insanity throughout their lifetime, or have parks taken measures to tone them down a bit since being built? For example, slowing down the lift on Skyrush and El Toro, or adding trims/reprofiling I305. I purposely went out of my way to ride Skyrush very early on, knowing it would probably be 'tamed' at some point. Don't get me wrong, those rides still kick freaking ass, but their early days of operation are on another tier compared to now, in my opinion. Either way, I'll still be making the trip to ride new Mean Streak very early on.
  24. Someone is putting waaaaay too much energy into hating something that has literally no effect whatsoever on their everyday life. Katy Perry is one of the most loving, kind-hearted people out there that will go extremely far out of her way just to put a smile on someone's face. Unlike some others who only care about themselves. I've met her personally a few times and can attest to this. Sure, some of her "hits" were written just to gain popularity, but she isn't paying the bills with no hits! Most of her songs are an autobiography of her life and how she came back from the brink of lying on her bathroom floor contemplating suicide, or meant to be inspirational. I suggest actually *listening* to some of them before judging. I want to know how many takes it took on YOLOcoaster before they were happy with the footage.
  25. The only version of I305 I rode was in 2010 after they added the giant trim down the first drop, and even in that form I would still put it ahead of Millennium Force. Don't get me wrong, MF blew my friggin mind when I rode it in 2000, and it will always be an awesome ride, but it's too drawn out and majestic for me to put it really high on my list. I prefer crazy, out of control, and straight-up bonkers. Probably why X2 is my number 1.
