  1. I think someone will try their hand at a 500-foot coaster sometime within the next decade or two. And I mean a true 500 footer, not the slow, meandering around a tower Polarcoaster proposed for Vegas. I also don't think Cedar Point is quite done building the monster groundbreaking coasters, even with Ouimet. Not that Maverick and Gatekeeper weren't large investments, but I wouldn't necessarily put them on the same scale as TTD was back in 2003. I've also always wondered how high, in theory, Formula Rossa could reach if it were built like TTD and KK? Anyone care to take a stab? I wouldn't know where to begin, math-wise.
  2. Don't worry, you're not missing much. Both are having major technical issues.
  3. Has the "YOUR SPEED" sign on TTD worked at all recently? I haven't seen it working in a few years, at least on any of my visits, yet it still hangs.
  4. I was at the park also. This day is a yearly thing for me. Even though I live 3 hours away, I take the day off from work and make the drive because I usually do more in the 4 hours they are open, than in a regular mid-summer day! Gatekeeper - 5 MF - 3 Raptor - 2 TTD - 1 Maverick - 1 Magnum - 1 WT - 1 MaXair - 1 I did have a "locked vest" ride on Gatekeeper sometime right after 9:00. I don't remember the exact row, but it was towards the back on the left side (3rd from the back maybe). Every other ride I had was unlocked. Also, the left side was very bumpy and shaky...I definitely preferred the right tonight.
  5. All a matter of opinion. I think Leviathan is just as boring as every other cookie-cutter B&M I've been on.
  6. Where'd all the car guys go? This thread needs revived, so here are some pictures from Cars & Coffee earlier this morning. The Blue Viper has twin turbos.
  7. If the tombstones actually happen, that is...
  8. This thing better have the loudest B&M roar ever.
  9. Definitely the most attached I have felt to characters as well. Naughty Dog did an amazing job!
  10. ^ Cedar Point already has a Planet Snoopy. They completely refurbed the entire Peanuts Playground/old Berenstain Bears area near Windseeker about 5 years ago. If anything, I could see them expanding the existing Planet Snoopy into the Kiddy Kingdom area, before creating a second one. This is more regarding the next 5-10 years instead of next year, but I do wonder how much longer CCMR has left. I remember hearing rumors that Snake River Falls isn't too far off from being removed also, and removing both of those would free up a lot of space in that area.
  11. No links as of now, but the local news is reporting a three-alarm fire at the beach club overnight.
  12. I was there last week for three days and most operations were consistently terrible every day. I didn't understand why it was so difficult to simply just move a bit quicker, stop fooling around with other ops, and be a bit more conscientious about filling empty seats (especially Superman's crew). Many parks have just as many rides to keep up with and have better operations, so it's not like it can't be done. SFMM's collection of coasters is awesome, but it's a shame that a decent guest experience is hindered by shoddy operations.
  13. Amen to that. I had a ride last week with just me on one side, and two people on the other side. I'm usually one for intense rides, but I was definitely not expecting what was in store.
  14. Spent two days at both parks over this past week and had an awesome time. I had never been to Disneyland before this, and had last visited DW about 16 years ago, so I was essentially going into new park territory. I must say, I was absolutely blown away with everything, from the rides to the operations to the extreme detail put into everything. Bravo, Disney!
  15. I visited 3 times over the past week after not having been to SFMM since 06. Knowing about the poor operations going in, I had lowered my expectations when visiting the park and had a decent time considering. That said, the operations at Superman today were laughable. Both sides were running (shocker) with the line backed to the split, and there were always 3-5 empty seats per cycle. When I got up to the door, there was a group of 3 in front of me and a group of 2 in the row next to me (4 seats), both next to board. I thought I'd help out and shimmy my way in with that group of 2 to fill the empty seats. I had already consulted with the groups around me to make sure doing that wouldn't mess anyone up, and they were all for it. When the doors finally opened I made my move, but was immediately squashed back by the ride op and told to get back behind the door. Low and behold, those seats stayed empty, along with 1 each in the 2 rows behind them without any care by the ops to fill them (they were too busy chit-chatting and fooling around with each other to realize anyway). I still had a decent time at SFMM all in all, and not every crew was bad (props to the X2 crew and YOLOcrew especially), but it's such a shame the shoddy operations really put a black mark on what should be a great park. When I do eventually make my way back to SoCal, I'll definitely be spending more time at Disney.
  16. No, they did not. They actually posted this caption with a photo about 2 hours ago: "We're open and NOT flooded! The guests that are here seem to be enjoying themselves!" However, there are strong storms approaching right now, with a tornado already sighted. KW has already stated they will close today at 5:30pm due to this.
  17. Does Disney still do the free admission on your birthday promotion, or was that just a limited time thing?
  18. YOLO looks really fun! I really like Sky Rocket, so I can't wait until I'm there in a little over 3 weeks. The last (and only) time I was there was 2006, I'm long overdue for a return.
  19. I do remember reading that, and I was just there on the 19th and they all work great now! Re: Gatekeeper's lights. Keep in mind that the mechanics at Cedar Point probably start their work days in the very early morning, I'm guessing around 4-6am. They have to inspect and check all the rides to make sure they are in safe working order...all before the park opens. That's a lot of work alone, let alone if something actually does need fixed. Working at night would probably call for a 20+ hour work day. I don't know about anyone else, but I'd rather the coaster I'm riding be inspected for flaws by a well-rested mechanic, rather than one running on 1 hour of sleep. I'm sure the lights will get fixed, but I doubt a cosmetic issue is currently top priority.
  20. Yeah, definitely a great point.
  21. Of course he's going to say that, because anything else would make M$ look even worse. They've already lied many times during E3 and press conferences, so what's one more? A Google search yields pages and pages of reputable sites and sources reporting the same thing, and it's clear that M$ is grasping for straws at this point for any little positive PR.
  22. I failed that part so many times, then eventually just said screw it and RUN!
  23. More Xbone news confirmed by neogaf. The "family sharing plan," where you could let 10 friends/family play the game, would have only allowed for 60 minutes of play time. So one of their "best features" that people are complaining about going away, was still a bad feature. Awful bait and switch tactic.
  24. I'm still going to sell my Xbone, like I had originally planned. Someone on another site said, "just because they wiped the spit away doesn't mean they didn't spit in my face," and that couldn't be more true. The damage has already been done.
