  1. It would be a real shame if they did that. I think they should just build a free-standing tower.
  2. That ride just doesn't fit this park. I'm glad it could be on it's way out.
  3. The new sign is in place. From Dorney's Facebook
  4. I live about an hour from the city and a few weeks ago after a Rangers game my girlfriend and I spontaneously decided to go up on the Empire State Building. Like most native New Yorkers I rarely take advantage of the awesome stuff the city has to offer but I must say I was blown away by the experience. If you ever get the chance you should go up there at night too, it's really amazing. By the way, how was the 102nd floor observatory? Was it worth the extra fee?
  5. Same here. I'm not much of a gamer but I love RCT2.
  6. If Vekoma rides are literally riding on air, can they still be rough?
  7. Thunderhawk at Dorney (1923). That's a frustrating coaster, now that Laser is gone it could be the best coaster in the park if they just turned the brakes off. The ejector air on the second hill used to be amazing in the front seat.
  8. I love the B&M. I'm not a huge fan of the new paint job on Typhoon but maybe it'll grow on me.
  9. Yes it is, although by the end of this a lot of that land will be developed.
  10. I've been doing some work on the park but nothing earth-shattering. Right now I'm just filling in the rest of Western Adventure (which is almost done). I've added three more rides, as well as more shops and restaurants. The most notable ride is Nightmare Mine which has an interesting back story. I was trying to build an elaborately themed wild mouse coaster, but ended up not liking it and deleting it. It was built in and out of a large mountain known as Nightmare Mountain. I removed the coaster and the mountain planning on going to in a different direction but when I attempted to delete the highest peak on the mountain, my game crashed. This wasn't a problem because I frequently save, so I went back in and tried to delete it again... the game crashed again. After hours of trying to delete this (using trainers, the zero clearance tool and just the traditional "right click to delete" method) I gave up. Because this scenery object was so high in the air, my only choice was to rebuild nightmare mountain and build a new coaster inside. The new coaster is completely enclosed and is a steel, non-inverting coaster with a 60 foot drop and multiple high-speed helixes. The ride is a big hit with guests, but not with the maintenance department as they've been reporting some strange sightings in the mountain. In all my years of playing RCT2 I've never experienced anything like it. I've seen the white "ghost" scenery but eventually I've been able to delete that. This isn't ghost scenery, it's out in plain sight at the very top of Nightmare Mountain. The local media has written stories about the mountain and how it was somehow impossible to demolish which has only added to the ride's popularity. Nobody can explain the mysteries of the mountain, but many people feel that it's haunted. No guests have reported any strange activity yet but the urban legends are still spreading throughout the local towns like wildfire. Haybaler and Buzzsaw are the newest flat rides in the park. They're both non-inverting, family-friendly attractions. Nightmare Mine has had long lines ever since it opened, and they're only getting longer as the urban legends spread. Western Adventure is just about finished. The red areas show the areas that still need to be completed.
  11. That's where they're putting the launch tunnel.
  12. This is a tough one because comedians are so different. I've seen Daniel Tosh's name come up a lot and I have to say that he's very quickly becoming one of my favorite comedians. His TV show is great but his stand up is even better, he's edgy but his edgy jokes seem to come when you're least expecting them. He may have the best delivery of anyone out there right now. I've seen John Stewart mentioned as well and I love the Colbert Report and the Daily Show. They do a great job at spoofing the news (and spoofing Bill O Reilly in Colbert's case). My girlfriend and I went to a taping of the Colbert Report a few weeks ago and in addition to being really nice and really humble (when he's out of character), he's an incredibly smart guy and he's very witty. Colbert and Stewart do a great job. Speaking of witty, I think the wittiest comedian out there may be Jim Norton. He's very edgy, he's not for everyone and I actually think his work on the radio is better than his stand up. His books are really funny too. My favorite comedian is probably Lewis Black. It's disturbing but I think we share a brain. I love his brand of comedy. He can get a little political but that never bothered me, he actually reminds me a little of George Carlin but with more rage. lol.
  13. Every giga coaster ever built (with the exception of Millennium Force which people find other reasons to complain about) has trims. Most Hypercoasters do too. I don't see why people have to act surprised and disappointed when these coasters get trims. I have never ridden a B&M or Intamin hyper coaster where the trims detracted from the ride and just because it has trims, doesn't mean they'll be all that powerful.
  14. The Rangers are looking great this year. Boston is a tough team, I can't believe we shut them out. I'm thinking about going to the Garden this weekend to see them play Columbus. They're not a great team but the ticket prices are very reasonable.
  15. No shame in that... I love suspended coasters. With the exception of Iron Dragon which is the most boring ride on planet earth, I've never ridden one that I didn't like. When I went to Magic Mountain back in 2001, Ninja was one of my favorite rides in the park.
  16. Before Six Flags bought the park, it was a small park called "New England Riverside" that really did have a lot of charm. The Superhero area was added down the hill and really didn't interfere with the existing park too much. Batman was built on the parking lot so it didn't interfere either. For the first few years Six Flags owned the park, they did a great job improving the park while maintaining the look and feel of Riverside park. Then around 2005-2006 that all changed. Again, this is just my opinion and I don't like being negative about parks too often. What they're doing to this place is a real shame though.
  17. I can't wait to ride this thing. Some of these turns look like they're reserved for cartoons and they can't possibly be real. I love this park and I'm glad they're getting a ride like this, they deserve it.
  18. Me neither. I've been doing my best to avoid this thread because I have nothing good to say about anything this park has done since about 2006. I used to go to this park more than any other (It's less than 2 hours from my house) and Six Flags is ripping the charm out of the place (along with some really good rides). They took out the log flume for an ugly raft ride that doesn't get you wet at all, they turned Tiny Timber Town into the ugliest kiddy area in the world, they removed the well themed splash boat ride that fit the theme of the area for ANOTHER boomerang, and of course they took out the 150 foot tall Colossus Ferris wheel which had been a staple of the park for almost 30 years. For the most part I try to keep it positive on this board but what's happened to this park in the last 6 or 7 years is awful. As I said, I used to go 5-6 times a season and I've completely stopped going.
  19. Aqua is the new red I guess. It looks cool though.
  20. Cough... Intamin woodie... cough
  21. Do you know what the world needs more of? ...Schwarzkopf! With the addition of the new coaster (Sidewinder), Western Adventure now features 4 coasters! This new section has a little of everything, with two family coasters, two thrilling mega-coasters, tons of flat rides and a great selection of shops, games and restaurants. Vampire is still the parks signature coaster. I wonder how long that will last? As always... comments and feedback greatly appreciated!
  22. Glad to see Typhoon will be getting some new colors. That's still my favorite ride in the park.
  23. Thanks for the comments guys. After you said that, I started looking at other standup coasters and realized you were definitely right. I'm quite fond of the layout, so rather than changing it I came up with another solution. Inferno sporting it's new trains.
  24. Thanks guys. I really appreciate the kind words. I have major news to report. The newly renamed "Western Adventure" area of the park is continuing to grow! The area has added some new flat rides, shops, restaurants and two major roller coasters. It's becoming the largest themed area of the park and it now has some of the best rides in the park as well! ------- Thanks to Xtreme97 for the name, I changed it from Western Adventures to Western Adventure because Western Adventures wouldn't fit on the sign. lol Inferno is the parks second B&M coaster. This stand-up coaster takes guests through 7 inversions and reaches speeds of 65 MPH. Inferno has been drawing long lines since it opened. The queue area has a lot of natural shade to keep guests out of the heat. Outlaw is the parks second hyper-coaster. Unlike traditional Morgan hypers, this is not an out and back design. It covers a ton of land and treats guests to some great floater and ejector airtime. This ride drops guests 210 feet and reaches speeds of 84 MPH. The two shiny new coasters. Western Adventure has grown into the largest themed area in the park!
  25. It seems like parks are very reluctant to remove coasters unless they are completely hated by the public or have maintenance issues like constant breakdowns / lack of spare parts. New coasters are expensive which may be part of the reason why it's pretty rare to see coasters demolished. Even when coasters are removed, they are usually moved or sold. As far as Anton Schwarzkopf goes, how many continuous circuit Schwarzkopf coasters can you think of that have been demolished (as opposed to moved to another park)? I can think of Viper at Astroworld but that's it (and the entire park closed). There may be a few more but there aren't many. Those are durable coasters. Flat rides seem to come and go much more often than coasters. You have the classics like the Scrambler, Tilt-A-Whirl and Carousel but for the most part flat ride trends change all the time. Ten years ago, almost every park had a Chance Chaos. Now it's almost impossible to find one. I'm sure there are some trendy flat rides now that will be almost extinct in 10 years.
