  1. Yeah like a log flume or a huge Ferris Wheel... sigh
  2. It makes El Toro the tallest in the US but T Express at Everland and Colossos at Heide Park are taller (according to RCDB).
  3. Yes, this coaster sucked. And not only did it suck... but because it was over 7,000 feet long it sucked for a really long time. I don't know, sequels usually suck. Son of Beast didn't exactly break the stereotype. Sorry to dance on this coaster's grave but I haven't been this happy about a coaster removal since Great Adventure got rid of Viper.
  4. Great, one less person in line. I have to admit after riding the one at Great Adventure this year I absolutely love these things and love the fact that they're popping up all over the country. Each one is totally different because each one offers a totally different view and I think it provides a really cool experience. To each his own, but I think they're great and really hope this one opens. I'm sure it will provide great views of the park, the river, Springfield and maybe even Hartford given it's impressive height.
  5. It's completely unsafe, they're just building it to see how long it'll take for it to topple over. It's a game that engineers like to play in their spare time. Do you get bonus points if it crushes Cyclone on the way down?
  6. If I'm looking at this correctly, I would think they'll need to remove the skycoaster. Is that correct or am I looking at this wrong?
  7. Glad someone finally came out and said it . Seriously people. A lot of people are saying it actually, the posts are just being buried by more and more posts suggesting the name will include "hawk". It was funny for a page or two but this horse has been beaten to death. Pretty soon the posters posting about how people are beating a dead horse will be beating their own dead horse and we'll be part of the problem rather than the solution. Will someone please think of all of those poor beaten horses?
  8. We were there that day too... I think Hydra only had a line because it kept breaking down. The longest line I waited on was probably 10 minutes for the Log Flume. The longest I waited for a coaster was probably 5 minutes for the mouse. It looked like the waterpark had long lines but we didn't head over there.
  9. I know people are taking offense to this post but I figured I'd share the fact that I found it hilarious and it made me (literally) laugh out loud on multiple occasions. (I didn't show the whole post in the quote because it's insanely long)
  10. Thanks for the compliments! Today was opening day for the park (and Pirates Cove, the new section of the park) and everything went off without a hitch. Guests are flocking to the new rides and every one of them seems to be getting positive reviews! The crowds descended on Pirates Cove as soon as the park opened which meant little to no wait for every other ride in the park until late morning / afternoon. Colossus is a major hit. It had a full queue all day. Earlier pictures showed a game booth in this spot, but I was really never a huge fan of it. It's been replaced with "Crows Nest" a small shot tower up a lighthouse. It's the centerpiece of Pirates Cove and treats riders to a great view once it reaches the top. Guests got a real workout on their way back to Pirates Cove as the entire Swiss Skyride network was closed today. Right now each individual Skyride has 10 cars and the network as a whole has 40. The park has purchased 40 new cars and plans to double the capacity of the ride to 80 cars. This is the first season every section of the Skyride will be open. Dispatch times will be cut from 40 seconds to 20 seconds and it will be easier than ever to get around the park! It's shaping up to be a great season at Sunset Valley.
  11. I think this is great news for the park. DT was a fun little ride, but the building was absolutely hideous. It looked more like warehouse / factory than a roller coaster. If they remove that it will likely provide great views of the beach in addition to clearing room for the new coaster. It's a shame that they're getting rid of Space Spiral but they have Giant Wheel and Windseeker on the same midway which really serve the same purpose (especially the Ferris Wheel). I can't wait to see what they have in store for 2013!
  12. Fixed Actually, I went to SFNE for the first time in years this past weekend and I have to say I enjoyed Goliath. It's rough in the cobra roll and it looks horrible in it's location but it's a good ride. I rode it when it was new at SFMM and I actually forgot how cool it was.
  13. You can't be a Monday morning quarterback. They acknowledged when they started this project that they were taking a risk. Risks like this are high risk-high reward. Things don't always work out perfectly. I understand that this ride is taking so long to build that it's comical, but they did say right up front that this was a possibility.
  14. I'm loving this park so far. Keep up the great work!
  15. Thanks guys! I'll have another update soon.
  16. What's with that SeaDragon? It's a SeaDagon boat on a Pharaoh's Fury structure. Weird.
  17. It's still the off-season but opening day is fast approaching and the finishing touches are being put on the new (still un-named) area. Cannonball Run and Sea Serpant are expected to open with the park, and a few new rides have popped up including "Merry Mixer (A teacup style ride)", "The Claw" (A top scan), a terrain log flume and a swinging ship ride. Despite all these new rides and the two new kids areas, most of the attention has been focused on Colossus. A new B&M giga coaster! The ride starts out with a small turnaround section before riders ascend the 315 foot lift hill. That's a long way up! Colossus will treat riders to both floater and ejector airtime. This ride goes way back into the woods, far away from guest areas. Work continues on the new area. Sea Serpent still needs a lot of custom supports. SCR55.BMP Pirates plunge looks to be a crowd pleaser! Comments (as always) greatly appreciated!!!
  18. Different coasters! And one has blue ice cream. And one has TGI Fridays
  19. I'm very excited to hear about Dorney's new bobsled coaster for 2012! I hate that someone beat me to that... In all seriousness (though nobody would really be shocked if DT went to Dorney or Michigan's Adventure) this sounds like a great addition. I can't wait to see what they do with it.
  20. I love that they're adding some color to the waterpark. It looks great! The new slide looks like a lot of fun too.
  21. Sorry for the double post, but I have a big update. It's the off-season at Sunset Valley but there is a ton of work being done all over the park. The new area is still coming along nicely. In addition to Sea Serpant and Cannonball Run, it looks like this area may feature another new coaster. A ton of work is going on back in the woods away from the rest of the park. I'll have more on this in my next update, this looks like it could be a huge ride. Additionally, two new kids areas have been added. While the park has had a lot of family friendly rides in the past, it has never had an area specifically designed for small children. I think a major void has been filled. In total, there are seven new rides between the two areas. Anyway... on to the update. Comments greatly appreciated! The first new area is Boomtown! It's located right near the Sidewinder and is an extension of the Western Adventure theme. Here's a view of Boomtown from the other side. Hidden behind Desperado's helix is a "Frog Hopper" type ride so this area has three new rides for the kids to enjoy. You may also notice that Sidewinder's queue building has been removed. There is an effort going on to reduce the size of the queue lines in the park. Because parks can only hold around 9,000 people in RCT2, I want to make sure that the guest flow is adequate once all of the land is developed and the park still appears busy and lively throughout. I'm confident that this will now be the case. The other new kids area is "Junior Jungle". It features 4 new kids rides (including a slide, not pictured here). One of these is a junior intamin coaster called "Jungle Jammer". This ride crosses over and under Desperado and circles the track 4 times. For a kids coaster this sure looks like it will pack a punch. Both rides were cycling today, most likely to check for any clearance issues. Everything looks good to me! Right across from Junior Jungle, another new flat ride has been erected. "The Claw" sure looks like an interesting contraption. You'll notice that the queue for Monsoon has been dramatically shortened. Senegal Spin (pictured above) also had it's queue house removed. ... as did Rattler. A lot of work is going on near Abassi as well. Not only has the queue been shortened and the fast pass line re-routed, but a scissor lift has been spotted under the lift hill. The park has parked a sky ride car next to the scissor lift and it looks like they are testing the clearance one last time before finally opening this new section of the Swiss Sky Ride. This should be the best sky ride segment yet as riders will be treated to a trip under Abassi and some great views of Monsoon. Once this opens, 3/4 of the Swiss Sky Ride system will be operational. Thanks for checking out this update! I'll have an update on that huge new coaster in the next few days!
  22. Intamin: Either the Impulse coasters or Fahrenheit at Hershey Park. I find both to be incredibly boring (I'm not counting Jr. Gemini or Skull Mountain because they're designed to be family rides so it wouldn't be fair). Impulse coasters look impressive but do nothing for me, and Farenheit falls into the same category. That's one of the most disappointing coasters I've ever ridden. B&M: Vortex at Carowinds. Not a bad ride, but not on the same level as most of their other coasters. GCI: Wildcat at Hershey. It's a beautiful coaster but it's pretty rough.
  23. I was at the Yankee game last night but I got home to watch the 3rd period and the overtime. Good for the Kings, but god those officials were horrible. How do you blow that delay of game call, and that high stick call? A lot of dumb penalties and blown calls in this one...
