  1. Great job so far! You may want to spread things out a little though since it's a 256 X 256 park. I love Expedition: Inca.
  2. Every time we've been there this season the lines have been very manageable (and we went on weekends every time). Plan on an hour for Goliath and 30 minutes or less for everything else. Keep in mind that you have to have a platinum or gold flash pass to use it for Goliath. There is a single rider line but you need to get through quite a few switchbacks to get there. Bizarro has a single rider line right near the entrance so you can walk right in to the station. Also, just a tip... if you're a huge whore and insist on riding Mind Eraser, ride near the middle. It's painful but not as painful as the front or back. Flashback and Cyclone suck in every seat.
  3. Was that this year? If so I completely believe it, and wouldn't be surprised if it was an hour long station wait.
  4. I remember Bumbly Beach! I'm really looking forward to this park... it's a very cool concept.
  5. Yes, the protest song was great. I actually laughed out loud at work when I read that. Anyway I'll pull back the curtain a little bit on this park. I'd love to try to build a waterpark but there are a few reasons why I can't do that. 1) I have Windows 7. Maybe it's not like this for everyone, but a lot of my trainer features don't work with it. I can't merge tracks anymore, I can't remove entrances and exits and there are a few other things that are a major production that used to be easier. Doing a waterpark well requires some serious hacking which would be difficult for me anyway because I was never great at hacking things in RCT2 and with Windows 7 it would be a nightmare. 2) I'm out of rides. I have one area left to build and I can absolutely get through that by deleting redundant shops and stalls. I'm confident that this won't hurt the look of the park as I have a lot of food service locations with multiple food stalls and I can delete a good amount of them without having guests complain. That being said if I were to add a waterpark too I'd be in trouble. 3) I'm out of peeps. Guest flow is a BIG thing with me. I think the most difficult part of building a large peep friendly park is tweaking paths to get guests to spread out evenly throughout the park. I want to ensure that every area of the park looks lively and rides have full lines and at the same time ensure that no areas of the park are insanely crowded. Right now, Port Orleans, Hasta Fiesta and New England are a little light on guests. I think part of the problem is that there aren't enough paths connecting them and this new area will probably fix that. Trust me... that's going to be corrected before this get's released. I won't have any dead areas of the park or coasters sending 1/2 empty trains. That's not realistic and it bugs the crap out of me. I'm sure I can distribute guests evenly throughout this park as is, but if I added a large section like a waterpark I wouldn't be able to do that since it would just get too large. It's a GREAT idea but I don't think I can pull it off. Anyway, you can expect an update on that new section pretty soon. I think you guys are really going to like it. Even if I don't always get a chance to respond I am reading your comments and taking many of them into consideration when building this park. I'm very proud of it this park and I'm glad people are taking the time to look at it and leave comments (whether they're positive or negative). This is the most fun I've ever had building a RCT2 park.
  6. Thanks for the comments guys! I'm definitely not going to give up on this park. I love working on it, I've just been really busy with work and I've taken on a few freelance projects (which I'm almost done with) for some extra cash. That being said... I do have an update for you. It's opening day and there's a lot of buzz over the new attractions! Sunset Valley always opens the New England section of the park 30 minutes early which gave guests the opportunity to get their Firecracker credit or to get their first rides on the brand new "Extreme Scream" attraction. It was media day for Cheetah Run! A temporary stage was set up and a local radio station came out for the event. The first riders were the media, and radio contest winners. They had news crews all over the plaza and sky ride cars were grouped together and stopped near the ride so that the media could get some aerial shots. Good thing they just re-cabled Swiss Sky Ride... Don't look down! Rattler has returned! The last helix was removed and many track sections were replaced with new Morgan track. As a result, the ride is running better than it ever has! Guests seemed to like this new area! It was too cold for Monsoon Falls today so it will have to wait for Memorial Day for it's grand opening.
  7. I enjoyed Batwing, but Batman the Ride is awesome. I love inverts and even though it's short it's very forceful.
  8. As a local, I'm glad the park isn't going away but I'm not sure I love the changes. If they get rid of most of the rides I think attendance will drop like a rock (though the water park idea may help a lot). Also if you have such a limited amount of space for rides, why on earth is Superflight one of those rides? It's horrible. I'd suggest they give that the axe and move some rides into it's spot (Maybe take your pick of the Gravitron, Skyflyer, Wipeout and/or if possible the S&S tower). They can charge just as much for those as they do for Superflight and make a lot more money. Also... I really hope they find a way to keep the flume. It's the best ride in the park in my opinion (with the Old Mill being a close second). Since they're planning on having a water park, I wonder if they'll find a way to keep that and/or playland plunge which are both extremely popular rides.
  9. For some irrational reason I'm optimistic that 2013 will be the year.
  10. We went this weekend and had an amazing time. It was my first PPP and we ended up getting a hotel and going back the next day to ride some more rides and check out some of the covered bridge festival. I forgot how much I love Knoebels... this place is a gem. They have so many great / unique flat rides that sometimes you almost forget they have two world class wood coasters.
  11. Coaster Crew posted some pictures as well. Trokia Trokia Troika... Link to all of the photos
  12. That's pretty cool that Cedar Point is reopening Troika this year. I figured once that fence went up it would be closed for the season.
  13. Thank you so much for the comments everyone! I sincerely appreciate it. Anyway today is everyone's lucky day. While Cheetah run is the star of the offseason, the park has been sprucing up virtually every area of the park and adding a lot of new rides. This park will look a lot different when the gates open for the new season. You already saw the next entrance area for Shangaan and Python, but there's a lot more to see... Canopy Flyers (lower right) is a brand new ride that spins riders at high speeds and simulates the sensation of flying. This ride will be fun for the whole family. On the top left corner of the screen you'll notice the brand new Monsoon Market which replaces the old Monsoon Market which was a bit of an eyesore (I don't know if I was drinking or tired when I made that building but I don't remember making it and it was seriously the ugliest building in the history of ever). Boomtown Camp Bus is a brand new rides for kids. Boomtown has remained unchanged since it opened so this will be very exciting for kids and their parents. For the big kids, Extreme Scream has changed the look of the entrance area forever. Extreme Scream takes riders up 200 feet in the air and gives you the choice of blasting up or blasting down. The ride was testing today and looks like it will really live up to it's name. The area between Abassi and Bongo Boogey has seen some major changes and will be almost unrecognizable when the gates open for the new season. This section used to feature a ride called "Abonsam Cavern" which was an indoor multi-sensory ride that was starting to show it's age. The ride structure has moved closer to Bongo Boogey and totally re-themed and upgraded. It will open for the new season as "Forbidden Temple". More than half of the buildings in this area have been removed and replaced and many of the buildings that remained received major face lifts. I was never happy with this area of the park but I think it looks much better now. The biggest addition to this area is Monsoon Falls, a family water ride that is sure to be a major hit on hot days. The ride features a 49 foot double-dip drop that ends with a drenching splash. (By the way, take a look at Python's new paint job!) Now for some before and afters... The new Shangaan plaza. The area between Abassi and Bongo Boogey changed dramatically. As did this area near the front of the park. Yeah I seriously, seriously hated that building.
  14. I love the Jungle Cruise of death. I'd suggest splash boats though. Otherwise I love it!
  15. Very nice! Look at that line for Corkscrew. I guess people really like pain. lol
  16. We had a great day at the park yesterday and the place was dead which made it even better. I'll spare the trip report but I have a few pros and cons to mention... Cons The no re-ride policy: I think my biggest pet peeve is when parks don't allow you to re-ride a ride when nobody is waiting for your row and they need to send the next train anyway. Unless the ride is super-intense there is no reason for this except so the 18 year old running the ride can feel like an important authority figure. Yesterday we were denied re-rides on Bizarro, Thunderbolt and Batman when nobody was waiting for our row. The only ride that allowed us to re-ride was Tomohawk but I'll get to that crew later in the "pros" category. On Thunderbolt one woman told us we could re-ride but another guy gave us thing arrogant look like he was a bouncer at a night club and told us to get off the train (we were never rude and never spoke back, we always asked before trying to re-ride). That row went out empty. Then later on Bizarro we asked if we could re-ride and were told no, but the entire car behind us just stayed in their seats anyway and got to ride. Our row went out empty on the last train of the night. The thing that annoys me is that this happens every time we go to Six Flags New England and have the opportunity for re-rides but never happens to us at any other park including Great Adventure where we got to ride Nitro 3 times in a row without getting off just a few weeks ago. I'm not trying to inconvenience anyone waiting in line or get to ride twice when other people can only ride once... but if most of the train is empty and nobody is in the station then this is a stupid rule. Bizarro I guess it's a rule that if you have a ride named "Bizarro" it must have the worst operators of any ride in the park. The park was dead at night, but early in the day this ride had a 45 minute wait because they had consistent 5 minute dispatches. The ride itself was pretty good but a few of the people in our group who haven't ridden it since the transformation were very disappointed and said that it felt slower than it used to. I'm not sure if that's actually true or they're just spoiled by riding El Toro a few weeks ago. I was underwhelmed by our daytime rides but it seemed to be running a lot better at night. Pros Goliath: I know there has been a lot of negativity surrounding this ride but I absolutely love it. We were lucky enough to ride in the front last night because there was no line at all and wow is that ride awesome. Not only is it smooth, but the ride up both spikes is a little freaky. I haven't been scared of a rollercoaster in years but this one does freak me out a little when you're hanging on that backward spike. Boomerang or not, I love this ride (now please bulldoze flashback). Oh, and this ride has a great crew. It's amazing how fast they send those trains out even though there are OSTR's and seat belts. Water Rides We walked by Blizzard River yesterday and were shocked to see that it was open (it was probably 60 degrees at this point). It was too cold for us but people were riding it and I think it's great that they keep these open this late in the season. We did ride Splashwater falls since you don't get all that wet on it and it had no line. It was sort of fun but I miss the log flume. Tomohawk This ride has the best crews in the park, hands down! Last night the woman in the operator booth was singing songs about Tomohawk and making crazy sound effects and getting the people on the ride to join in. This ride is great anyway but the great operators make it even better. Oh... and they actually let us re-ride before high-fiving everyone on the way out and thanking everyone (one-at-a-time) for riding. Overall we had a lot of fun. There were a few things that were a little annoying but when you have great rides, great weather, no lines and you're with great people it's hard not to have a great day.
