  1. We rode it Saturday night and there were no metal detectors.
  2. The park has a set capacity. If they're hitting it then this is a better system than having people drive all the way there before they find out that they're not allowed in.
  3. I'm not sure what they need to do with Lightning Rod, but it's hard to think of a modern coaster that's been this much of a turd after years of operation (though "operation" is a generous phrase here). The stratas come to mind, but even with them; they break down a lot intermittently but they operate for a decent chunk of the day most days.
  4. Those ride vehicles are adorable.
  5. The tradeoff with Six Flags parks vs Disney Parks is that at Disney Parks compliance with masks and social distancing is excellent compared to any other major park and cast members enforce it but there are more things that are indoors. At Six Flags, the lines on the ground are just there for decoration and by late afternoon 50% of park guests have the masks off completely or under their noses and the park is too understaffed and the employees don't get paid enough to care. Queue lines pack tight like they always do with no distancing whatsoever and you spend much more time in them because rides run at 50% so the park can pretend to care about social distancing BUT everything is outdoors so despite guests ignoring all covid rules... that may make up for it. Obviously the science is still working through all of that. I mean... maybe Magic Mountain will be different but if I would have picked any area of the country where I felt like guests would take covid seriously it would be the New York metro area and Great Adventure has done the most atrocious job of enforcing their policies of any park I've been to all summer and it's not close. That said, in both scenarios theme parks are not a major covid risk.
  6. This is true too. Once it gets down into the 20's, New England sometimes closes the coasters and once Thunderbolt gets snow on the tracks it can stay closed for days. Great Adventure doesn't close the coasters ever regardless of temperature unless they break down, but even then they keep sending maintenance out to do whatever they can do to fix them. There is no temperature limit whatsoever for any ride in the park that operates for the event. Nitro can and has run into the mid teens. We usually go to SFNE the first few weeks of the event just to be safe.
  7. So Adventureland is apparently tired of being quiet and has gone on a bit of a media and social media crusade trying to get approval from the state to open. [fbvideonew] [/fbvideonew] Newsday has picked up on it and hopefully a few more outlets will too. It's funny, I kind of forgot that New York amusement parks were closed despite living here because our parks aren't really noteworthy and I always go to PA, NJ and CT to go to parks anyway, but I do like this little park and hope they can get the governor's attention. I applaud them for being more vocal.
  8. I actually love the vibe of Holiday in the Park in New England but yeah... that's fair with the ride lineup. If you're up for the trip, come to Great Adventure's event and ride Nitro in the snow.
  9. Sorry you didn't get to ride much but in a way I'm also happy to hear that the park was busy and people were supporting them. I really enjoyed that place despite the lack of any real stand-out ride. It's really cute and charming.
  10. Tantrum is lap-bar-only. We really enjoyed it. Welcome to TPR by the way!
  11. They're both closed. They run Batman, Mind Eraser (or whatever), Joker, Thunderbolt and then usually some combination of Pandemonium or Flashback even though they don't advertise it. The DC area is closed and everything beyond Pandemonium is closed. Goliath is closed because it's a turd.
  12. This park is already right near the top of my bucket list because of Chiapas so the fact that this exists is just icing on the cake.
  13. Fun fact: "stanky tunnel" is a hip new synonym for "budget"
  14. I have no clue who you are but you seem lovely. Anyway... banned. You should try being nice to people. Most of us don’t bite.
  15. This is still really hard for me to answer but I'll keep the description simple and assume we're talking about what most people would consider a hypercoaster (no inversions... not Orion because IDGAF about stupid technicalities etc.) and say that I love them all but gun to my head I actually might say Superman El Último Escape at Six Flags Mexico now that I've been on it.
  16. I still feel like it's only a matter of time...
  17. Inside the Magic always delivers the clickbait trash.
  18. No, I entirely think that you're onto something. I think they still want to open for HITP so they can start billing people again, and honestly... awesome. I hope it works out for them. I don't think it's looking good but I'm glad that they're still trying.
  19. It's nice to find some silver linings in this awful situation.
  20. Let’s place bets on if they finish building it before or after the rest of Carnaval en Folie. This park is a parody of itself.
  21. I entirely agree that I can't stand this policy in parks that otherwise don't care about social distancing where you end up spending more time not socially distanced so they can pretend to care during the ride (Six Flags) but I also get that it's necessary to allow them to open since it appease politicians. Whenever I get annoyed by these policies at a theme park I think back to March and April when we were stuck at home and couldn't do anything and remember that I would have killed for this a few short months ago.
