  1. I would interpret that exactly the same way you did, especially based on the way the first post was worded.
  2. The live cams are back... this is proof that Tony Clark loves us and wants us to be happy. It also means I'm going back to being much less productive at work.
  3. That really is heartbreaking news. What a terrible situation.
  4. You must be new to this whole "Six Flags New England" thing. I'm glad you enjoyed your day at the 5th friendliest park in the world. I've been going to Riverside since I was 3 so most thing that go on there don't shock me. But every year I find myself scratching my head more and more with some of the things they do, especially in the ride ops department. The last couple years I've only gone two or three times all year because I just can't take it anymore. Wicked Cyclone has gotten me back to the park a lot this year so far, but it's just not fun when they make you feel like an elementary school student the entire time you're there. I went on Houdini all alone today and the ride op still stood there in front of me and yelled the whole boarding spiel like the entire room was full. I wish I could move Knoebels 4 hours east. I couldn't agree more with everything you said... Especially that last part.

  6. So help me understand this... according to this thread: Disney is ruined (partially because they removed the hat ) Cedar Point is ruined because they replaced their log flume with one of the best coasters in the world and their crappy bobsled ride in the ugliest building ever constructed with a wing coaster that everyone who's not an enthusiast loves and did higher ridership numbers than anything in the park. Kings Dominion is ruined because they haven't built a new coaster lately and everyone has to settle for one of the world's best coasters in I305, a beloved Intamin multi launch coaster through a volcano that shoots fire out of the top and is all around awesome, a great indoor launch coaster and one of the best floorless coasters anywhere. And Six Flags Great America is ruined mostly because they removed a car ride and a kiddy area. So is this like "3 Strikes you're out and I'm never going back" or just "3 things I don't like that a park did but I still go there all the time"? I'm just confused because the original post made it look like the former but that would be ridiculous. There's not a single park that's been "ruined" (to quote the original post) to the point that I wouldn't ever go back if they got something cool. Well... maybe Conneaut Lake but it literally is in a state of ruins and they'll never get anything new.
  7. It's great to see a park add a Log Flume while so many others remove them. To me, a park doesn't feel complete without one.
  8. ^ Actually if you haven't ridden Goliath and you want to ride Goliath then I'd ride that first because it's incredibly unreliable, has terrible capacity and always has huge lines.
  9. To be fair I was coming from Montauk, I'd rather be hit by a bus than ever drive home from Montauk again. When I was up in the Montauk lighthouse looking across to Connecticut I considered the feasibility of swimming across the sound (risking hypothermia), leaving my car for dead, walking to a train station when I reached the shore and then buying a new car when I got home even though I wouldn't be able to afford it. I only considered this for a second because it's the worst idea ever but it's not THAT much worse of an idea than trying to drive home on a Sunday from Montauk, lol. Going anywhere on Long Island in June, July or August isn't fun but driving might still be better than taking the LIRR since Farmingdale isn't really that far out and it's way more convenient to have a car if you're going from Farmingdale to Medford. If it were me I'd drive, but expect traffic to be horrible. Maybe you'll get lucky depending on when you get there and when you leave but you should allow plenty of extra time in your itinerary.
  10. I've never understood the comments about Alpengeist being rough but no matter how smooth a coaster is, there's always an enthusiast willing to complain about how rough it is. I don't think there's a single coaster in existence that nobody has complained about roughness on so at this point I just do my best to ignore enthusiast feedback and decide for myself.
  11. A few things that stood out to me... Sea World got absolutely crushed, but it looks like the Busch parks were very stable, I was very surprised to see a slight boost at the Tampa Location despite the late opening of Falcon's Fury and the hit their sister park took (though I know Blackfish had a lot to do with that and consumers generally don't know that the parks are owned by the same company). Despite the addition of Banshee, Kings Island only had a 1% jump which seems a little low to me. I wonder if they were expecting more. Universal's growth is really amazing. Harry Potter is a juggernaut. Cedar Point's drop is a little strange, but the fact that they were closed on a weekend with beautiful weather thanks to that water main break may have played a role there. That won't account for a 4% drop though. It might not even have accounted for a 1% drop. I'm a little surprised that despite Zumanjaro which gained a lot of attention from the general public on Social Media, Great Adventure's attendance stayed flat.
  12. I can't wait for then to put Pipe Scream on the wall to annoy the coaster nerds.
  13. That Pinfari Invert looks like the worst thing ever, I'm surprised to hear it's relatively enjoyable.
  14. I can't really speak to a strategy for hitting the park but I would seriously suggest you add Ninja to your list. That would be my biggest "strategic" suggestion.
  15. I won't pretend to be an expert on ride control systems but it seems almost incomprehensible to me that this could have happened. My thoughts and prayers are with the injured riders and their families.
  16. So many votes for Skull Mountain. I guess Skull Mountain is officially old enough that it's achieved "Cult Classic" status. lol "Geeeeeet Ooooooout"
  17. Wicked Twister has the most ridiculous restraints of any coaster I know of. You see people walk off of it on every cycle and they're generally not large people. The other impulse coasters don't seem to have this problem at all, I'm really not sure why Wicked Twister's restraints are so unforgiving.
  18. What can I say? I'm amazing. In all seriousness this is my theory with the webcams. This is 100% speculation. I know Tony blamed lightning but they clearly work just fine except Cam 1. They got them almost exactly one year ago (the beginning of June), they probably signed a one year contract with pixelcaster and they're exploring other options. That's my guess... (Oh, and I found a working live stream of Carowinds camera 2 which they took down too). I should probably go outside now and stop being such a nerd... sorry everyone. lol
  19. For everyone as nerdy as I am... Still Cam 2 and Still Cam 3 Are still live.
  20. If it's not something you're comfortable with you can just close your eyes during the first turn and on the way up the first hill. Then you'll never even know it happened. ... and if you can't ride Shockwave is that really a bad thing? lol
  21. ^ Location, Location, Location. If people are willing to pay it then they're going to keep charging it. ... at the worst mini golf course on earth no less. lol I love Miniature Golf when it's good, but Challenge Golf is god awful. I don't think it's possible to explain in words how bad Challenge Golf is. They need to bulldoze that place (preferably for a respectable mini golf course).
  22. Great pictures! You guys were a blast. I'm looking forward to the day 2 pictures.
  23. Well that didn't take long... you beat me to it. lol
