  1. Great report. I completely disagree with your opinion of basically everything but great report. This solidifies my theory that there is an enthusiast somewhere that will complain about roughness on every single coaster ever built though. I don't think it's possible to build a coaster that's smoother than Afterburn. To each his own I guess.
  2. When you do, ride it in the front and prepare to say goodbye to that 8/10 ranking
  3. You know what's weird? A few years ago I was riding it and thought I heard a new trim in that exact spot but we were a few rows back so I couldn't see anything. I was incredibly sure it was there though. When we got off the ride I looked and didn't see one anywhere but the last few years when it rolls over that section I would swear it sounded like there was a trim but there wasn't (it's a pretty distinct sound too). I always hesitated to bring that up though because if I posted about the way trim breaks sounded I would have to re-evaluate my life and stop being such an unbelievably nerd. So I'm going to go do some soul searching now... be back in a bit. lol
  4. There lies the problem. I'm not saying it's ever an exciting ride but ride it in row 1 and lean keep your back off the seat back and I promise you that the ride won't be rough. It still won't do much of anything though...
  5. Congrats to Cedar Point on "finally" getting some recognition despite being a highly underrated park that few people have ever heard of. It's always nice to see this humble, small, "underrated" park nestled quaintly on the shores of Lake Erie finally getting some national attention and landing on a list of "underrated" amusement parks. Direct link to the list... And yes, I'm being unbelievably sarcastic. And by the way this list is getting a ton of traction on social media and news outlets.
  6. Are you able to choose your seat on Banshee this year?
  7. Agreed. If you get there for early entry (assuming you have access to it) you can probably knock out Maverick and Millennium Force in the first hour and then the only other excessively long line you'll need to worry about is Dragster's unless you go to the front of the park early in the day which is obviously a terrible idea. Even on a Saturday all other coasters will probably have wait times well under an hour and rides like Gemeni, Rougarou, Mine Ride, Magnum, Mean Streak, Blue Streak, Iron Dragon and Corkscrew and Raptor (LATE IN THE DAY) will probably be under 30 minutes (though Magnum and Rougarou can exceed this if you catch them at the wrong time). Rougarou's line gets much shorter late at night by the way.
  8. So I assume Sonic Spinball is just closed because running one car at a time on it would lead to horrendously long lines, correct? If they have to stick to this in the short-term I wonder if a better solution is possible. For example, what if they do a Fast Pass style system with a stamped card and a time to return and limit the amount to equal the ride's capacity. This isn't an ideal system but I bet most guests would prefer that to just having the ride closed. Again though, I don't know if this new system is Merlin's idea or if they're being required to do it, or what's going on behind the scenes so I'm just brainstorming out loud. We don't know for sure the specifics of this ride's closure.
  9. That's strange, but it's on the Flash Pass, no need to worry. The website's just wrong.
  10. Add another positive review for the Milan Motel 6. It's very good for what it is.
  11. ... and that it will be sponsored by Jersey Boys.
  12. Sounds like you had a great time (even though Tom wasn't 100% the whole time). Great report and great job raising over $500 for a great cause.
  13. They're really not unless you're dead-set on staying on site. You can get a hotel room in a decent place (Super 8, Motel 6 type), in Sandusy, Milan for less than $50 a night. Disregard this if you're set on staying on site, or if you only prefer higher end hotels than that. Generally as long as the place is clean I'm not picky if I'm going to spend an entire day at a park and just go to the room to shower and sleep.
  14. Batman is a strange case, it's very common to see it have a station wait when Toro and Nitro have 30-60 minute lines and just as common to see it with a huge line filling the queue outside the "storm drain". There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to it at all.
  15. Wow, this is really cool. Great work.
  16. I really like this, it's just a nostalgia overload to the days when RCT2 didn't have so much hyper-detailing.
  17. Since you brought up Great Adventure, I would highly suggest renting a car for a day (just one day, having a car when you're in NYC is more trouble than it's worth) and heading out there. NJ Transit also offers busses to the park, but just rent a car if you want to go.
  18. Great trip report. I'm excited to get up there in the next few weeks and check this ride out.
  19. Why not do 2 days without FLP? I'd prefer that option personally.
  20. Kingda Ka is open today according to a very reliable, scholarly source (twitter, lol).
  21. We drive 6 hours to visit this park every fall and honestly don't care one bit that they haven't gotten a new coaster lately. I feel the same way about Kings Dominion as I do about Great Adventure, a new coaster would be great but the coaster lineup is already awesome so I have nothing to complain about.
  22. And to make it better, Cam 1 is finally fixed.
  23. Great report and pictures! I'm glad Cedar Point lived up to the hype (I know it does for me), and I'm glad you got some great night rides on Millennium Force... it really is an amazing ride. If you go to Cedar Point and you don't ride the Sky Ride then it's almost like you never went to Cedar Point at all ... that's good news for you though since now you have to go back. Luckily I think Brit and I rode it enough for everyone in the 3 days we were there (I'm not even kidding, we probably rode it like 15 times). They move the line so fast that we NEVER bother walking the main midway. Not counting early entry I think we only walked down that midway once in the 3 days we were there and that's because we wanted to ride Blue Streak. Every other time we took the Sky Ride. The way I look at is that it's a great ride, but more importantly every ride on the Sky Ride is a little less pain our legs will be in on day 3. We synced our Fitbits when we got home and ended up with like 80,000 steps in 3 days, and thats with all those Sky Ride rides.
