  1. Mine was the Whirlwind at Knoebels, it's now at some tiny park in Costa Rica, but I remember absolutely LOVING it at the time. A year or so later, I rode Great White at Morey's piers and it scared the $#!+ out of me, so I avoided coasters for a while. My next two were Sidewinder and Flying Coaster at Elitch Gardens while on a family vacation, and after those I conquered all the 'big' coasters at Hershey, and there was no looking back from there.
  2. Doubt it. Does Millennium Force deserve to be in your top 10?
  3. I've had an ear infection this whole week, and at one point I thought, "I really hope I don't ride a Vekoma in the near future..."
  4. Even You, Brutus - RHCP. Love the new album!
  5. Cyclops (Mount Olympus)
  6. Hersheypark Cedar Point Great Adventure (First visit) Mount Olympus Kings Dominion It seems like a pretty weak year, but this year I took my first rides on Maverick, I305, and everything at Great Adventure. Next year I'll finally get to Dollywood and SFGAm, as well as ride new hotnesses at Hershey, Dorney, and possibly Knoebels!
  7. I voted Intamin. It's not because my home park has two (soon to be three) extremey unique pieces of Intamin hotness. I have actually been on more B&M's than Intamins (19 to 11 to be exact), but my top 5 is exclusively Intamin. The reason? Nearly all Intamin coasters have at least one, and usually several, OMFG AAAAHHHH!!! WTF!!! moments. Be it the launch of an accelerator, the ejector airtime of a prefab woodie, or the drop of a Giga, Intamins are forceful, awesome, and insanely FUN rides the whole way through. Ride experience aside, B&M has the undoubtale edge, be it safety, capacity, reliability, etc. I DO agree that B&M's are fantastic rides, but they aren't *quite* out-of-this-world like a few of the Intamin's I've ridden are.
  8. Does anybody remember the Villain at Geauga Lake? That thing was absolutely BRUTAL. I also remember the Geauga Double Loop being horribly rough, even among other Arrows... I'm gonna throw a curve ball here and also say Kingda Ka. Maybe it was just running bad, but it was incredibly shaky and I hated every second of it (besides the amazing view from the top- but that doesn't help the roughness)
  9. Well then, that kills the "two separate pictures" theory. Yup, definitely a Wing Rider
  10. 1. Millennium Force (CP) 2. El Toro (SFGAdv) 3. Maverick (CP) 4. Intimidator 305 (Kings Dominion) 5. Kumba (BGT) 6. Volcano: The Blast Coaster (Kings Dominion) 7. Phoenix (Knoebels) 8. Apollos Chariot (BGE) 9. Phantom's Revenge (Kennywood) 10. Flight of Fear (Kings Dominion) 113 Credits ( 80 steel, 33 wood)
  11. Hydra at Dorney Park manages 7 inversions with only a 105' drop. Even though one is a heartline roll right out of the station, there is still some momentum left at the end of the ride. I do agree SFGAm would be seeking a coaster with a high inversion count after losing Shockwave, though. On a side note, my family passes the park every year on our way to the family lake house in Wisconsin. If this coaster turns out awesome, a stop next summer might be absolutely necessary! Can't wait for the announcement!
  12. Great White (Morey's Piers)
  13. I305 and MF are pretty similar drop-wise, because both of them are absolutely INSANE El Toro and Fahrenheit have given me the most ejector air over their drops, both more pronounced in the back. One really underrated drop, IMO, is the drop off the MCBR on Dominator (King's Dominion). That was the only time I've ever experienced ejector air on a B&M
  14. Intimidator 305
  15. For Volcano, are we talking the second launch after the first turn, right before you go into the mountain? I just wondered because I didn't think the first launch was very intense at all... Other than that, I think the Flight of Fears are the most intense I've felt, but again it's probably the illusion of flying out of the station and into a tunnel. The Intamin Impulse coasters are close behind, though.
  16. ^ I wounldn't be too surprised; Hershey is very good about lighting coasters. All three woodies have lights the whole lengths of their tracks, and Storm Runner has multicolored lights shining up the top hat.
  17. Any idea how crowded the park would be tomorrow (Monday)? I was thinking of making another trip up just to ride El Toro again
  18. I've met an abundance of people that absolutely insist that Kennywood's Jack Rabbit jumps off it's tracks during the double dip.
  19. Another example is the wooden coasters at Mount Olympus in the Wisconsin Dells. Three woodies (Cyclops, Pegasus, and Zeus) built in thee consecutive years (1995, 1996, and 1997, respectively) by the same company (Custom Coasters International). All three have one PTC train, but they are all colored differently. At least Leviathan isn't orange too... As far as the Storm Runner/Fahrenheit comparison goes, in general the GP doesn't see them as too similar. I think they recognize the similarities (trains, track, color), but the WOW factor for both coasters is completely different. Every time a train for Fahrenheit ascends the lift, there is always a group of people staring up at it going "Wow, that's crazy!". The same thing happens every time a train is launched on Storm Runner; the GP gather around and stare. Just my two cents
  20. Am I one of the only ones here against a q-bot system at Hershey? Granted I'm a local, so I go all the time, but I've been a great number of times where everything, including coasters, was an absolute walk-on. I suppose it would be nice for those who can only visit once a year and can pay a little extra to skip lines on a busy day, and because most Hershey visitors fit that description, I can see a q-bot system put in place in the future. Ian "Hope my home park stays q-bot-free! Kendall
  21. Last week, I was on Storm Runner with a few friends, and when the train stopped on the pre-launch track, it just stayed there. We realised something was wrong after about a minute of just sitting, but then the GP started to freak out, yelling "it's a ticking time bomb!" and "Is it gonna launch?!?". I wasn't worried, and I tried to tell people that the train wouldn't launch until the magnetic brake fins went down, and in this case they were still up. About 5 minutes later a ride op and a maintainence worker came onto the launch track and told everyone to keep their heads back and centered in case of a launch. Five more minutes passed, then the train awkwardly shuffled backwards into the station and we got off.
  22. ^ Sounds like we'll get a construction blog too! Either way I'm excited, less than 12 hours!
  23. If there are any alt-rock fans out there, you can take a look at my band! We're called New World Order- we're a four piece, and even though we're all in high school, we take our music very seriously. If you'd like, you can stream our musicdisc on our facebook page here: http://www.facebook.com/newworldorderband?sk=wall I'm the lead singer/lead guitarist and co-songwriter, and the awkward-looking kid with the long blonde hair in our profile picture Let us know what you think!
  24. The Comet, last few trains of the night: once in the front, and once in the back. (More airtime in the front, IMO ) ^ Virtual high-five. Haven't ridden Lightning Racers in the dark for quite some time now, but I remember it being awesome. * image from rcdb *
  25. Comments on the TPR POV of Pyrennes: this ride is almost exactly the same design as Montu in Tampa, FL lol this ride is almost the same exact design as super man @ sixflags great adventure in new jersey This Ride Is The Same Thing As Talon At Allentown,PA In Dorney Park But IT's Different Colors Now we've all seen these before. The funny part is that these all come consecutively, one right after the other.
