  1. The Great Bear has four straight sections, and if used right (as in not just long meandering at the end of the ride), they can actually add a lot to the ride experience. The one before the drop really builds up anticipation with the layout in view and the drop looming, while the trench before the immelmann gives a few seconds of claustrophobia. The trench on this invert would give a very similar feeling, and I'm pretty sure it's designed for that.
  2. I'll agree with this. The inversions really are the highlight of the ride, I remember really enjoying the g's in the loop and sidewinder. That being said, the rest of the ride is pure Arrow coat-hanger-omfg-death-machine. I wouldn't be sad to see it go. There are already too many "crappy" rides at KD.
  3. On a video for a Diamondback commercial: "@markincapemay lol i love cedar fair six flags is just simply not safe but even with intimidator its a different name its intimidator 305 and just intimidator ive been to cedar point and kings island befor emany times but i know a sht ton on all of the cedar fair amusement parks" ...qué?
  4. Did anybody else get the new Coldplay album? It's different, but I really like it so far!
  5. I live in Harrisburg, which is right across the river from Hershey and very close to a host of major parks. Hershey- 20mins Knoebels- 1.5 hours Dorney - 1hr 40min SFGAdv- 2hr 30min SFA- 2 hours Kennywood- 3hr 30min Kings Dominion- 3hr 30min SFMM- 1 day, 18 hours
  6. When I rode Millie at about 10:30 PM in early July this year in the back seat, it was absolutely FLYING. I didn't remember it having much (if any) airtime, but I was absolutely thrown out of my seat over the airtime hills. And there was absolutely zero rattle, just smooth and fast as I remember. And to address the phenomenon known as "Intamin Rattle": Fahrenheit at Hershey is a perfect example. It's not rough, it's just "shaky", especially in the Cobra Roll. If you watch online POV's you can hear it easily.
  7. Is anyone completely sure about the Skyrush restraint system? The concept art showed clamshell lap bars, but I read somewhere else in this thread that Hershey was considering I305-esque otsr straps... I think the straps would be fine, but lap bars would make for a much better ride experience, especially considering the potential for omfg ejector air. Knowing Hershey, we won't find out till the trains arrive (Which, in fact, I'm greatly anticipating...).
  8. Not counting re-locations, this is my list: Big Bad Wolf Laser (Dorney) Double Loop (Geauga) Raging Wolf Bobs Villain Big Dipper High Speed Thrill Coaster (Knoebels) (INSANE in front or back)
  9. I'm gonna suck up and post some TPR videos, but few things make me laugh as hard as these couple: And my personal favorite,
  10. ^ Exactly the same as mine. Good choices!
  11. ^^ Exactly what I was going to say as well. A 4 or 5 train wait for the front half = 1 or 2 trains in the back, but I can't complain because the back gives the best rides by far
  12. I remember riding Griffon during its soft opening in May of 2007- 4 days old and only a 10 minute wait! In addition, Green Lantern, Dominator (KD) and Voodoo/Possessed, if those count.
  13. A Balder-esque prefab would be amazing there, maybe a little bit taller, but a similar layout and comparable airtime...
  14. I see CCMR being removed before the other two, as Corkscrew barely takes up any room and Wildcat could only be replaced by a flat... One thing I'd like to see happen is an NTAG-esque makeover of Mean Streak. I don't hate Mean Streak, and I've ridden much rougher, but it's kind of a pointless ride in it's current trimmed-to-death state and seems like a perfect candidate for a makeover. Of course it wouldn't increase the coaster count but they could always pull a Magic Mountain and add a Zacspin too...
  15. ^ I went on a slightly colder Tuesday in mid-February a few years back and the park was absolutely dead... I rode Kumba six times in a row without getting off!
  16. The Skyrush track should be fine. This video shows that the track is across Hershey Park Drive from Midway America, which is nowhere near any of the flooding. The doomed Pizza Hut is a few miles southwest, right next to Swatara Creek. Spring Creek, the creek that flooded Hershey, splits off of Swatara and flows east, in the opposite direction. Just a little local geography for ya
  17. Hershey should give O'Connell Plumbing and Drain a call, they could undoubtedly sort this out. I do feel really bad for both the ZooAmerica workers and the park itself... It's a shame they're being blamed when the circumstances were clearly out of their control. Let's hope for a speedy recovery.
  18. This is me at our band's show last November... we were playing Killing In The Name, so that explains the look... Come at me, bro.
  19. All the rivers and streams around here are absolutely INSANE. The little creek behind my house went from about 5 feet wide to 20 feet in less than a day. I hope the construction isn't set back too much...
  20. Only the humongous Intamin Roto-drops... I'm always up for a 1st gen Intamin or an S&S. Do you like dogs?
  21. ^I was disappointed by that too... the simulations showed much more than there actually was, theme-wise... As far as the ride itself is concerned, I really love it. I've only ever ridden it once, but that one picturesque sunset ride was enough to give it my #3 spot. I love the layout and almost every single element. My least favorite part of the ride by far, though, is the portion between the beginning of the launch and the end of where the heartline roll used to be. I thought the launch was just 'meh' (none of the effects were working when I rode), the banking change before the trim was the only time I experienced any headbanging, and the re-designed section was the only dull spot in a ride otherwise packed with movement in every direction. My only other gripe was that the ride seemed to have a slight rattle, especially in the horshoe roll, but it wasn't even close to Fahrenheit-level rattle. The Stengel Dives were incredibly fun imo, and I had no problems with the restraints as far as comfort goes. Bravo, Intamin!
  22. For me, it's Skyrush, mostly because it's at my home park. That, and there's always room for another Intamin airtime machine!
  23. ^^ Skyrush is Intamin. Typos aside, this is a great idea, and I'll be sure to plan trips to some of these parks next year!
  24. Great Bear
  25. If Intamin could build a giga with airtime anythig like El Toro's... Just... Seriously though, both of their Gigas are absolutely brilliant (MF is my #1, 305 is my #4, don't hate ) And El Toro is simply in a dimension of its own.
