  1. Glad to see a hefty investment going in! I visited the park early July. I thought Ravine Flyer II was running great last year...... wow, it is absolutely fantastic this year.

  2. If you are implying that the original experience was better than the reverse blast... I think you are in the minority. The face down on the spike alone is worth it. I myself would consider that a downgrade, and would argue it is very unneeded. Maybe that is just me, though.

  3. I want to say thanks to everyone for the help and feedback! Simply stated, we had a blast! I have never been able to do so much at the magic kingdom on any visit. When I got there at 4 it did rain a little but after that, it was little to no rain throughout the night, just a drizzle now and then. We got to meet mickey with no wait! That is unheard of but hey, I'll take it. We even met 4 princesses in the matter of 10 minutes. Splash mountain was a walk on, as well as the haunted mansion. We decided to have a late lunch, early dinner at liberty tree tavern. Of course we had no reservations but they were able to seat us. The price point was really good for family style and the food wasn't that bad at all. To sum it up, by the end of the night we were exhausted and skipped some rides out of sheer tiredness. Needless to say I will be returning next year.

  4. Congrats on being one of the enthusiasts that give us all a bad name and make us hesitant to identify ourselves at parks.

  6. using the plans from the article here's the best approximate location i can do for the slide, it's going to be pretty tightly interwoven with existing structures

  7. ^In your defense, the giraffes are probably more civilized than many New Jersians.

  8. At first I laughed, thinking you were referring to the clientele, then I remembered they had the safari park.

  9. Something to also consider is how many skilled carpenters, maintenance workers, etc. have retired or were let go from their respective industries because of the pandemic, and as a result have also taken decades worth of institutional knowledge with them. Knowledge that will take the less-experienced workers who are now in these roles years or even decades to gain and build back up. That's also in addition to however many smaller companies who are now out of business that previously manufactured highly-specialized replacement parts for these rides. While those are no excuses to operate rides anyway if they are deemed unsafe, I'd speculate that keeping these rides running in the shape they once were is probably the most difficult it's been in a long time.

  10. So I went to the opening day of the PNE on the 20th. Was a fun day and great having the full Fair back in action! Didn’t do rides (passes sold out and no ride coupons available), but did observe some things: The new ride is down, has been down for a couple weeks I think. Still was not up and running by PNE opening day. It looks very spiffy, nice landscaping around it. A proper marquee to enter under, nice looking ride. Coaster running, one car (of course). Can confirm seatbelts are now in use. To my surprise, they got the Log Flume up and running for the PNE - I had thought they said it would not be due to supply chain issues.

  11. We went last month and the turnaround and bottom of the RT hill were unbearably rough. Like, spine and brain-stem compressing, making it hard to re-ride just because of those two spots. The first 10+ years of operation, El Toro was every bit as smooth as Intamin's steel coasters. I really hope they do a Colossos treatment and re-track the entire coaster. I can't even begin to describe how pissed I'd be if they gave this amazing coaster the RMC treatment, when all they had to do was maintain it correctly in the first place. F*cking Six Flags, man.

  12. I'm curious how you came to mention Paris. The latest data I can find is from 2020 and Paris is ranked 17th in most visited parks in the world. Disneyland is number 12 with over 1.5 million more annual visitors. In 2019, a normal year pre-covid, Disneyland (rank #2 on earth) had almost DOUBLE the attendance of Paris (rank #17, unchanged). Tokyo, Shanghai, even friggin Chimelong Ocean Kingdom are ranked higher than Paris. At least in the NFL you get first draft pick for being the worst. Six Flags gets Larson Loops.
