  3. All of this activity in this thread made me think Worlds of Fun was finally getting something exciting, like new planters or a walkway.

  4. Got it, I must have been mis-remembering or only ever saw the 48" part of the sign. My daughter didn't have any real interest in riding it when I last took her (2019) so I didn't even bother checking to hard, I just remember thinking the height requirement was higher than I expected. Just for kicks though I checked out the site in 2019 using the wayback machine The wording was poorly done, and I think the website just had some incorrect heights listed (but really it obviously doesn't matter what they site had in 2019) Sorry for my incorrect memory on that one

  5. Mini-Update/Review incoming: For anyone wanting to go to SFOT this weekend they are open Friday-Monday but with massive holes in their rides lineup. The following rides are (probably) closed: Judge Roy Scream (Retrack? : down for weeks) Rodeo (Speelunker's Cave area construction) Titan (Lift hill chain broke : 6+ months and counting) (Giovanola went kaput so it's hard to get a ride-critical part like a lift hill chain) Mr. Freeze: Reverse Blast (Spontaneous combustion) Pandemonium (unknown but closed all last weekend with blue tarp on top lift hill motor) The Joker (unknown problem but only operated 1 day in last 3 weeks so problems? That 1 day had 3 breakdowns in 45 minutes when I tried to ride) Harley Quinn Spinsanity (Closed all last weekend) Batwing (Some planes taken off arms) All Single Rider Lines are out for good it looks like too so it's about to be the queue line wait times from hell. I heard that people were abusing Single Rider line by demanding the Station Attendant put their group together while going through Single Rider lines. $199 season-long Gold Flash Pass looking like a solid gold purchase right now. I'm not dogging Six Flags at all. It's understandable that everyone got rocked with Covid money losses. The Dark Horse rides are Shockwave and Batman. I went on Saturday and waited at most 15 minutes for Shockwave during peak hours at 4:00. Batman is so ridiculous how short the wait time is (high capacity : 32 riders per cycle). The ride had a station wait at 4:45 on a Saturday! I was shocked. Six Flags Over Texas is a fun park but caution to the wind of any first-timers as lots and lots of rides are down.

  6. Id like to see a replacement wheel as well, with a good lighting package. Always looked great at night walking around/out of the park or to the campground.

  7. ^ Yeah, you beat me to the post. Bizarre acting voice, but still likeable, depending on the production. i.e the parrot IAGO in Disney's animated ALADDIN (1992). I would have paid to see and hear a conversation between him and ..... Harvey Fierstein.

  8. Went to opening day last Saturday. Weather was all over the place from sunny to thunder & lightning with hail during the day. Had a great time and did see several improvements with landscaping, fresh paint and a great looking new large sign out front. They have selfie spots throughout the park, a backdrop for pics on Main Street and other general improvements. Macho Nacho is gone and replaced with Hot Head Burritos. Fireballs sign is still there but walled off and other than the station Goliath is completely gone. Overall operations were pretty smooth and it was one of the better opening days that I can remember. New Sign By Entrance. New Photo Spot On Main Street. Currently What’s Left Of Fireball. Former Location Of Goliath. When The Weather Was Good!

  10. Had my first visit of 2022 today, Sunday. The changes this season begin in the parking lot. There are at least 5 security camera masts throughout the lot now. Approaching the entrance the canopy over the ticket takers has been repainted and it's blue and white now. Which if memory serves is more like it was a couple decades ago with the old structure. Catwoman is coming along, though a fair amount is still framing. There are still stairs from Bugs Bunny National Park to the upper bit of Illinois but they're all-new. As for Eagle. The entrance is improved but they aren't done with it. Looks like it'll have full ADA-compliance with a new ramp still going in. It leads to the entrance side of the platform though. Also got a couple shots of the changes to the Palace area. That's about it for my short stop. Never got to see the DC comics and Log Flume/American Thunder loop. Mooseburger being converted to 100% mobile ordering only is pretty nice and the menu has been expanded. But there are still some omissions from this menu (no loaded nacho option, nothing with a hot dog in it). Macho Nacho and World's Fair Hot Dogs are both back this year. I'll leave you with the rest of my Catwoman photos.

  11. You mean you went right before they started closing for a huge chunk of the summer season and there were lines?! I went in 2021, things were back to usual. Worlds of Fun is still just WOF, crowds won't be there pandemic or not.

  12. This sign appeared on the entrance of Zoom. Seems like they're teasing some kind of archeology theme to the renovation??

  14. I was there yesterday too, and it was a nice visit. I had one of the best rides ever on Screamin' Eagle, and it was nice to have it back in action. It was hauling the mail! The redone entrance is very nice and with all the construction around that area, I'm glad they have the Eagle open for the start of the season. Catwoman's Whip is TALL! I'm glad it's in the back of the park near Eagle, taking advantage of the natural elevation. And yes, there is a lot of construction still left to be done on it and the area. That section of the park is going to be very nice once completed. I'd assume that something will go in where Tidal Wave used to be in the near future as well, making that whole area the nicest on the property. Excuse my ignorance as I wasn't on TPR much for the year or so after the COVID ordeal started, but wasn't the original plan for Whip to be over by the Boss, behind Supergirl? Regardless, I'm glad it's where it is now. It's a major part of the skyline. Boomerang's new paint makes it pop. It wasn't in operation yesterday, though. My streak of going to SFSTL with Boomerang NOT being in operation is laughable. If people here didn't talk about riding it, I'd have no clue it was ever open. SFSL just posted a great pic of the new entrance on Instagram.

  15. My wife and I made our first trip of the year on Sunday, and it was a pretty good day overall! Park was not very crowded at all, which made for easy waits on almost all the rides! The only wait was for the Screamin' Eagle, and that looked to be about 30 minutes. The new area and signage around Eagle looks beautiful, but you can not access it from Boomerang. You have to go the back way to get to it. (Giggity) My wife and I are "legacy members" (what the old memberships are now called), but our perks are the same this year, as they have been in the past. We were told that this is the final year of all memberships and dining plans, and beginning next year, you either had to cancel your membership, or move to one of the passes. That was a bummer, as my wife and I liked our membership, and used it at different park all over the country. Flash passes, and skip the line perks can be used from the app this year, and we found them to work quite well. We really didn't have to use any, but we tested them to see how it works. You can also pay a price, and just purchase one skip the line pass through the app. I have a feeling price and availability will depend on how busy the park was. Food wise, we ate at JB's. There is no "upcharge" for the meals on the dining plan, but by default now, the meals come with a bag of chips as a side. I believe fries, mac and cheese, or a salad could be subbed for $2. I chose to do the upgrade to fries with my wings, but they did not charge me for it. Probably an opening day system glitch. I also did see that turkey legs are considered a meal now, with no upcharge. We rode what we wanted to, but we did get stuck on the mine train, and had to get let off at the station before we left. No biggie, as it looked like a safety sensor needed to be reset. We left and went to skyscreamer... What do you know, we sit down, and had to get right back up! A ride opp found some foreign object debris on the ground, and wanted to make sure it was just trash, and not a piece of the ride that had come off. While waiting for the OK from maintenance, we had a chat with a very nice guy. We talked about the boss, and how they finally got parts in last week to do repairs, and they were testing and training for next weekend to be open. We also talked about Mr. Freeze, and it actually broke down during fright fest last year. The parts were ordered, but delayed due to supply chain issues for 6 months! They finally got the parts in last Friday, and were hoping to be able to get to work this week on getting her fixed, weather permitting. Cat Woman's Whip still has quite a bit to go. The loading docks for the ride are sitting next to skystreamer, and they still have quite a bit of concrete, que line, and lanndscaping to do. Once it is done, the guy said it should look really good, but in typical six flags fashion... it will probably not open late spring. Other than that, the park did get some sprucing up over the winter. There is a new pavilion style building near Eagles entrance that looks very nice, and there are some new shade structures built around the palace porch area. They did take down the roof over the palace porch stage, so not sure if it is being removed, or perhaps repaired. At the entrance to the park... Pretty close to the same as always, except the exit is now on the side closest to the restrooms. Guest services looked to have its own dedicated line for entering the park. Not sure why, but thats what it is. Overall, we had a good day, nice people, beautiful weather... and just what we expected as a Sunday at our old park!

  16. ^ Is it appropriate to compare this upcoming summer to July 2020? That was when most parks had just reopened, social distance markers were being used in queues, trains were only loading half the available rows, and rides were being sanitized every half hour. There will still be some crowds in June/July but overall operations should be more efficient.

  17. Hello Everyone! My name is ActingEarly and this is my first ever post on TPR, here to show you my new RCT2 park, Diamondwood! I've followed several RCT2 threads on this website over the years, but I've never posted one myself. Well, I've got a new PC, a small break from college, and motivation that somehow magically appeared in the last couple of weeks, so I used them all to put together what may be weight for weight the best beginning to a RCT2 park I've ever constructed. This is a NCSO object park, but I will be using some downloaded flats, stalls, and maybe a custom coaster or 2 (because you tell me to make a park without my Chairswings and Dippin' Dots). Now, because I just seem to be a campy individual by nature, I have to have a story behind my parks. This one's tale is that a fortunate entrepreneur in my home state of Arkansas acquired a large span of mostly flat land in the Ozark Mountains (a feat in itself) and decided to follow his dream of building a massive amusement park in his home state, who's tourism industry probably couldn't support a park that big, but we don't care! This park will have multiple themed areas, something I usually don't include in my parks but will in this one, and I really want to incorporate the location of the park into most of the theming. The current only open section of the park, Diamondwood Square, is an Americana-style entrance area with shops, stalls, restaurants, and classic rides to invite guests to what will eventually be a massive park spanning our entrepreneur's hole in the Ozarks. The area admittedly has pretty loose theming, but said theming will be much more tightly incorporated into future areas of the park. Comments and criticism welcome, as this is my first park here, and let's get to the screens! (Sorry if the picture quality isn't the absolute best in the world, I did what I could. This park is made on RCT2 classic, not OpenRCT2.) Park Entrance and Ticket Building. Sorry about the dead flowers Alternate angle of park entrance and the Season Pass building. The main area of Diamondwood Square. Featuring Diamond Star Carousel, the Overlook Ferris Wheel, and Castle Arcade, a themed Motion Simulator. Sorry for the sheer number of peeps, I have over 1,500 of them in this one little area of the park and it felt a bit empty when I just made them invisible. Another angle of the area that better shows off Yarnell's Creamery (Arkansans know) and Jerry's Famous Burgers. Please excuse the nothingness behind Shooting Star, the big white woodie. The Coliseum Show Theatre, quite possibly my favorite RCT2 building that I've ever made. Angle numero dos of the Coliseum and the bathrooms attached to its left. Also a slightly better shot of Whirling Dervish, the Tilt-a-Whirl. A parking lot that I totally didn't just make to fill up space, why do you ask? The second half of Diamondwood Square, centralized by a pagoda that houses an info kiosk. The Junk Depot Gift Shop, a.k.a. the brownest building to ever brown, nestled in front of the Arkansas Railroad miniature railway, which will be a big help once the park starts getting bigger. Also featured is Castle Jon's Pizza, another personal favorite building of mine, and the Aerial Chariots Chairswing (please excuse those no-entry path signs, as well as the chunk of wall I just now realized was missing from Arkansas Railroad's station). And here's the station for Shooting Star, currently the biggest crowd-pleaser in the park (but hopefully not for long ). Upon my last visit to Silver Dollar City, I noticed most of their coasters had small gift shops attached to their exit routes, so I tried to incorporate that a bit into Shooting Star's station. Another angle of Shooting Star that shows off the first drop. I honestly tend to struggle a bit when it comes to making good-looking coaster layouts in RCT2, but I'm really happy with how this one turned out. It also makes a great backdrop to Diamondwood Square. Thank you all for reading! Hopefully I'll have another update out before too long, but I may have to wait until college lets out for summer if I want to avoid two or three-pic updates.
