I went to "Touch of Disney" on Monday. It's Disneyland's version of a food event. The food is a bit different with them bringing over some favorites from Disneyland instead of all unique items sold during the Food & Wine festival. Tickets went on sale a few weeks ago and as usual, jammed up the servers and caused errors. You were put into a virtual queue and waited, and waited. I believe it took me checking from 7am until the queue actually opened at 10am? I forget, but it wasn't until probably until after noon or later that I finally had my tickets. Before the day was over, Disneyland extended the event a couple weekends because of the demand. This was before they knew they would be able to open soon, so they are probably pissed they extended it. LOL Anyway, the ticket price is steep. $75. That gets you parking, photopass for the day, and $25 gift card good for food only, no alcohol. When the price was announced, of course so many groaned and tried to laugh that they charged too much. Then the ticket day came, and it was a disaster because of the demand. Never underestimate the price people will pay for some Disney. LOL Most food places were open with limited or unique menu items. I had some spicy chicken wings, carbonara mac n cheese with bacon bits, a bengal bbq beef skewer and a monte crisco sandwich. I planned to get a hot fudge sunday from Ghirardelli but it got a little cold and windy so I passed. All the items were fantastic. Since there are no rides, we did a lot of circling the park multiple times. Some characters were out in odd places, and FAR away. Chip n Dale were in the bushes were you normally might see a cat, Donald on a balcony of a room at the Grand Californian, Mickey, Minnie, Daisy and Pluto on the Symphony Swings platform up high, Goofy and Max up high at the warf fishing across the body of water. I watched as Minnie was taking a break coming down the elevator from the swings, and kids just lost it, going running after her. So, I can understand why they kept them so far. Kids aren't running after a minion like they would Mickey and Minnie. Disney did an awesome job with the event and I wasn't upset at paying $75. On to some pictures I took throughout the day. The best was being able to get great views of Pixar Pier at night without people in the way!3 points

Yes, still only one train. They are waiting for a fix from the manufacturer. Even the TimeSaver Line is long, about an hour, instead of 2 plus in the regular line. It's not a good time to ride Lightning Rod right now because of the long wait times.2 points

After looking at the Park Journey pictures, the station & break run look VERY close to the ground compared to RailBlazer & Wonder Woman. Will be interesting to see other slight differences in the size of elements/supports compared to the original prototypes, we can already see that the supports for the lift/twisted turnaround are slightly adjusted for the terrain.1 point

We got more Stunt Pilot updates! Park Journey got an up close construction tour of Stunt Pilot yesterday, and they have a pretty well done report on it. I'm not gonna repost all their photos so here's the link (https://www.parkjourney.com/other-parks/silverwood-stunt-pilot-construction-update-2), and I'll try and summarize. Plus, here's an overall shot the park took form the top of Corkscrew! Edit: the Twitter embed didn't work for me (1000% user error) do here's the park's photo just copied and pasted from their social media. Looks like they are really cruising now! Highlights from the Park Journey report are (in no particular order): 1. Expect a late May/early June opening. Apparently there were some construction delays, and they are waiting on a control panel, so it won't be ready for opening day. (Million Dollar Question: Will it open before Jersey Devil? I think so!) 2. Looks like a good amount of theming is coming. The park already confirmed that the station, storage shed, and entrance/exit building (more on that later...) will be themed as airplane hangers. In the report they show a picture of a Pitts Special Biplane that will be on display which looks really cool! They also say that some theming hasn't been announced, and some may be delayed till next season. This is a bummer, but I could see why they would want to do that. 3. Stunt Pilot will also have a tribute to Bob Heale somewhere. For those who don't know Bob was a key performer in the park's airshows, a friend of Gary Norton (the parks owner and founder), and was involved in the early creation and operation of the park. He was killed in an airplane crash at Fairchild Air Force Base in Spokane, that lead the cancellation of the air shows at Silverwood. The park is working with his family on the tribute, and I think this is a really cool thing the park is doing. Kudos to them! 4. Stunt Pilot WILL have the moving loading station!!! 5. Lots of retracking for both Tremors and Timber Terror, particularly on the helixes for both rides. This is great as both were probably the roughest parts of both rides, and Silverwood does a pretty good job on retracking. 6. The new concession stand under Corkscrew is coming along nice, and it looks like it will probably be ready for opening day. 7. Corkscrew's paint budget didn't show up this year... (Ok, ok, just kidding...but come on Silverwood! Paint the dang coaster!!) On the permits side, the park has received approval for pretty much all of them, except the barn flythrough. We also now know the official purpose of the "mystery" entrance/exit building. Part will serve as an entrance hallway were they will check for loose articles, rider height, and eligibility to ride. The other part will serve as an "exit through retail" shop, and I would fully expect an on-ride photo judging from the way the counter is set up. Here's the approved plans from the building department: I don't know about you guys, but I'm getting really excited!! Here's to a great 2021 season!!1 point

This new snack case, has just been posted at TDLR and TOMICA ..... and I am "yeah duh" getting one, via eBay! It's my favourite live show in the Tokyo Disney Resort. Will see a show every visit, as long as it's running. EDIT: Scored one! BBB (in DisneySea) stands for Big Band Beat, btw ..... this will be available at the end of March. Then .... one's mine, all mine!1 point

That field is where the park shoots fireworks off for events. The collection of "junk" was brought in for the paintball attraction a few years back. The additional stuff visible starting around August 2019 till now is from the relocated Camp Killamore hunted house that use to be inside of Hurricane Harbor.1 point

That reminds me of the time I was riding Mr. Freeze during and ERT and the park was trying to "impress" someone present, obviously, as they were drenching those nasty headrests with Fabuloso. I rode once and didn't go back, I thought my eyes were turning purple from the smell. Cheap aggressive smells (gain, windex, air freshener, AXE stuff) more than anything add a big dose of air pollution. But it's gotta smell clean....1 point

Walt Disney World has sent us a press release about this year's limited-time Earth Week Celebration offerings at Disney's Animal Kingdom! While Disney theme parks celebrate all living things every day, during the upcoming Earth Week Celebration there’s an added opportunity for Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park guests to connect with the magic of nature through engaging activities designed to educate and inspire the whole family. From April 18 to 24, Disney’s Animal Kingdom will host limited-time experiences including unique Disney character appearances, fun learning opportunities, specialty merchandise, themed food and beverage, a new Wilderness Explorer activity and more. The Animation Experience at Conservation Station shows how Disney Artists bring favorite characters to life by using animals for inspiration. For the Earth Week Celebration, guests can learn to draw characters – including Dumbo, Terk, Squirt, Shere Khan, Simba and Scar – whose real-life counterparts represent amazing stories of conservation work around the globe. Catch a glimpse of some special characters who will join other favorite Disney pals on Discovery River Character Cruises. Nosh around the park sampling Earth Week eats, including a selection of limited-time specialty cupcakes: the Creature Comfort’s Honey Bee Cupcake, the strawberry-flavored Flamingo Cupcake at Flame Tree Barbecue or the Sea Turtle Graham Cracker Cupcake. Specialty beverages include The Red Crowned Crane, a frozen Coke topped with frozen Cherry Coke and strawberry cotton candy; adults can spice it up with Captain Morgan Rum. Set out on a series of self-guided, nature-themed challenges and earn a special Wilderness Explorer limited-time Earth Day Nature badge. Hunt for an Earth Day 2021 limited-edition Te Fiti Moana trading pin. Guests can also support the Disney Conservation Fund by purchasing a cuddly plush inspired by species that call Disney’s Animal Kingdom home; or check out Island Mercantile’s eco-friendly water bottles, tumblers and reusable bags that promote sustainability. Any time guests visit the park, they can marvel at unique animals and meet the newest arrivals. Most recently, the park welcomed the birth of Ranger, and guests can get a glimpse of the rambunctious 5-month-old calf and his rhino family on a journey aboard Kilimanjaro Safaris. While on safari, also keep an eye out for two young Masai giraffe who were born a few months ago, and playful Nigerian dwarf goats that hang out at the warden’s outpost. Beginning April 2, watch as artisans transform 40 tons of sand into a detailed sculpture celebrating National Geographic’s “Secrets of the Whales,” an original series streaming on Disney+ on Earth Day. The intricate sculpted masterpiece will be located on the Discovery Island Stage until April 30. I finished my Master of Arts in Professional Creative Writing with a concentration in Professional Dramatic Writing from the University of Denver. Started in summer 2019 and finished mid March 2021. Most of the work was done during the pandemic! And I did this a full 34 YEARS after getting my B.A. Anything is possible! Now (fingers crossed) waiting for my return to work call from Disney....1 point

Ok! We now sorta have an answer to the mystery building that was spotted on the earlier site plans. I say sorta because we have an idea of what the building will look like, but limited on its purpose or use. Again, these are from the Kootenai County Building Department so no insider info here! The building is labeled "Entrance Building" on the plans and its placement in the site plans seems to match that description. It's location seems to be in the vicinity of where the Roller Coaster Alley sign was, or just in front of it. It also lines up to about where the queue connects to the main path on the plans. Other than that...we still don't know anything. I'm excited that it looks to not be a fluffy fluffy bunnies filled with medicine and goo (although it could still be?) or a on ride photo stand. My guess is that it's some sort of queue house that will hopefully have some theming...or it's just a gift shop. Still hoping to get some permits for the station soon...I'm still holding out for a real station like there other coasters (Silverwood don't be like CGA, you can build real stations!).1 point
