  1. I totally get the maintenance nightmare aspect of many of these rides, but especially with a ride that is so historic and helps you claim to be a national historic landmark, figure something out! Ask for donations, make it an upcharge, have a display that explains why it's special, etc. There are solutions. This isn't just some crappy old boomerang or something. People actually care! Where are the Geauga Lake fanboys with their pick up trucks to save this!?!? Oh and I'm also jumping on the "Knoebels come grab these" bandwagon!

  3. It was very interesting after spending several days at Disney last week to visit Universal yesterday and see how much live entertainment they had! I wonder why Disney cut everyone while Universal seems to be stepping up? And John, I'm sure you'll be back sooner than you think, you're so talented and they need you!

  9. Cyborg is terrible, they should totally rip it out, I don't even care if they replace it or not. Just finish JDC and we have one of the best lineups on the planet.

  11. I always have an eye rolling moment when there are have three urinals with an open one in the middle and grown men will actually wait instead of using the middle stall. It's like a childish homophobe rule people go by. I'll teach my daughter to communicate with people, just like my parents taught me. Sad. I get your point, but I'm still not on board with the toboggan position with strangers 'if it can be avoided.' I'd prefer not to, to the point where I've told the ops that we'd rather ride alone on things like the log flume. It also helps with making a lesser splash! Although, it's different with the few flumes I've ridden with dividers. I have a friend who's humor sometimes revolves around intentionally making situations awkward. He always stands right next to people he knows in urinals and makes comments like, "nice watch!"

  12. Being a CLE local I've been keeping an eye on these projects. The housing development currently under construction on the old Sea World side also looks very nice, and in an area with excellent schools. I may end up being a super nerd and look into buying one of the houses there. lol I lost hope of GL coming back about a year or so after the parks closure. I held onto some hope that a Indiana Beach type scenario could play out but I knew CF would never allow a buyer who wanted to rebuild. I then hoped for a small mix use development with a small FEC to be built. Saving the Big Dipper. But again, I knew CF really wouldn't go for anything that could maybe grow. Even if in no way it could compete. Just didn't think CF would go for it. This is a good compromise. I'm happy something is being done and that it honors the history of the park. It really could be a beautiful location. I hope there is plans to keep a green space with maybe some trails around the lake itself.

  14. This sounds about right. In 2020, we want to go back to 2019. In 2019, we wanted to go back to 2018. And so forth. I am hoping, at the minimum, that all parks are able to open in 2021. Even if all of the same guidelines are still in place, I would hate to see a park not be able to open *again* due to some ridiculous state/county mandate and likely close indefinitely as a result.

  15. We have been sent a press release announcing the formation of the Orlando Entertainment District, a collection of attractions, restaurants, bars, night clubs and experiences on International Drive in Orlando, FL that have come together to promote themselves under a unified banner. Locals have reconnected with an old friend and are hanging out on International Drive. Now, top attractions, bars, restaurants and night clubs which have sprung up in the past decade on I-Drive are looking to amplify the trend by creating the Orlando Entertainment District and increasing communication with local residents. ICON Park’s president and CEO Chris Jaskiewicz is leading the charge to brand the area the Entertainment District. “Orlando has a rich history of vibrant entertainment districts, such as Church Street Station in the 1970-80s, and then Pleasure Island in 90s and early 2000s. We now have what those spots had and more – nightly live entertainment at Ole Red and Tin Roof, fun night clubs such as Mango’s, top restaurants such as Yard House, Uncle Julio’s, Sugar Factory, three dinner theatres, bowling, and 15 great attractions from the 400 foot high Wheel to a Titanic museum with hundreds of artifacts recovered from the ship.” "There is a pent-up demand for high-quality fun, entertainment and dining – even if you’re on a budget,'' said Jaskiewicz. “Locals have rediscovered the entertainment value of I-Drive and how easy it is to get here, and they’re loving it. About 75% of our guests now are locals, so we want to make sure all our residents know what is available to them here in their own town and state, especially as their out-of-state travel is limited by the pandemic.” Over the past decade, billions of dollars have been invested in International Drive, as developers, the Orange County Convention Center, and Orange County officials have worked together to create a world class destination which became one of the nation’s busiest spots for visitors. In 2015, Orange County’s I-Drive 2040 Vision plan was adopted with a a special district as the gateway to International Drive, and now business leaders there are taking steps to brand it as the Entertainment District. “This is a perfect example of the public and private sectors working together in a smart way – Orange County created a gateway district under their 2040 Vision Plan and now business leaders are branding it to help all businesses on International Drive” said Luann Brooks, who is the Executive Director of the International Drive Business Improvement District. The Entertainment District has launched a website, social media and publicity to increase awareness about the following venues: ICON Park A 20-acre open-air dining, shopping and attraction destination in heart of I-Drive which is home to attractions The Wheel, Madame Tussauds, SEA LIFE Aquarium, Pearl Express children’s train, Arcade City, and 7D Darkride Adventure and restaurants and bars including Yard House, Tin Roof, Uncle Julio’s, Ole Red, Tapa Toro, Sugar Factory, Buffalo Wild Wings and Shake Shack. Mango's Tropical Café A nightclub offering Brazilian Samba, Cuban Conga and a variety of Latin beats to Hip-hop, 80s & 90s hits and Michael Jackson Acts also known for its Dinner & Show, a throwback to the classic supper clubs of yesteryear: The “Tropicana” in Havana, Cuba and the Cotton Club of New York City. Titanic: The Artifact Exhibition Takes guests on a journey back in time to April 1912, when the ship embarked on its maiden voyage. Guests receive a replica boarding pass, assume the role of a passenger and follow a chronological journey through life on Titanic. The Exhibition features more than 300 artifacts directly from the wreck site of Titanic. Access full-scale room re-creations including the famous Grand Staircase, Promenade Deck and First Class Cabin. Ripley’s Believe It or Not! Features self guided tours of hundreds of exhibits from the worlds of science, hands-on interactive displays, videos, wax figures, cartoons, photos, rare artifacts, and special effects. Pirate’s Cove Golf Voted “Best Miniature Golf” in Florida, players putt through mountain caves, across a full-scale pirate ship, over footbridges and under cascading waterfalls. Kings Dining & Entertainment Features luxury bowling, billiards, energetic music, sports viewing, nostalgic retro video gaming, and food and drinks. Pirates Dinner Adventure A dinner show for children and adults alike featuring a cast of entertainers, acrobats, and cutthroats - sword fights, songs, sea monsters, and a captain’s feast. Sleuth's Mystery Dinner Shows A 45 minute comedy mystery where all the clues are presented to dinner guests who formulate questions for a live interrogation to help solve the crime. The Orlando Entertainment District is located near I-4, Universal Boulevard, the Beachline, and the Turnpike on International Drive. To learn more visit: https://orlandoentertainmentdistrict.com/.
