  1. ^ That is correct and somewhat annoying. Being a web developer, I've come across this on many websites I've worked on. Long story short, within JPG files there is a EXIF data flag for "orientation" which are values 1-8, the common values being 1 (no rotation), 3 (rotated 180°), 6 (rotated 90°) and 8 (rotated -90°). Essentially your camera (and it's sensors) always take photos in one static direction, but based on the accelerometer in the device it will flag it for orientation differences. Some image programs naturally observe this and display it in it's intended orientation when viewed on screen, but browsers (and web applications), typically show it in the original form without checking against the flag. Easiest way to rectify this is (by the user) usually opening the images in a photo editor which usually will interpret the flag and show it to you correctly and when you save/re-save the image, it will save it in the way it is displayed on your screen with the orientation flag set to "1" by default. It can be handled on the server end by checking the file and manipulating it on upload, but I'm not entirely sure how Invision board uploads are handled, but I assume there is either a plugin or add-on that exists for it, or it could be updated manually. Willing to help if it's at all desired.

  5. I’m not here to discuss the intricacies of what type of bluegrass / country / backwoods whatever-the-f*ck music is what... most people know what I mean. I guess I’ll amend that to “redneck music that I don’t care about” if it makes you feel better.

  6. oh, no worries! Was just letting you know that I saw the same thing from the other day. once I found the "fix" - and I repeated it with every pic that had uploaded incorrectly, then just dropped the "fixed" images in place of the wrongly oriented one. so there's a workaround on the Poster's end (at least workaround for me). . so I'm not concerned. Was just letting ya know!

  7. hey Robb - in my TR I just posted, I had the same thing Taylor was talking about. it ONLY seemed to effect photos that were taken via Selfie Camera (I have iPhone10). I messed around with it for a long time, before finally figuring out that the way to get around it was to open on my desktop via Photo Editor, and "flip" the picture, and then "flip" it back to save. by doing that, i was able to get my pics that had been appearing correctly on my phone/desktop, but uploading to the site upside-down - to now load to TPR with the correct orientation. it's a few extra steps, but once i figured out the way around some of my pics uploading upside-down, it's all fine. (again, the drag-n-drop option more than makes up for any extra steps needed to reorient *some* pictures for uploading).

  8. Similar topic, but out of sheer curiosity looked into Dollywood one day ticket and season pass prices since 2005 via Wayback Machine, inclusive of tax. I think they're a pretty affordable park overall. 2005: $43.50/$72 2008: $50.20/$83 2012: $60.60/$96.50 2016: $73/$122.35 2020: $88.70/$150.4 Price increases seem to be relatively consistent from 2005-2021. 2005-2012, prices went up 40% on tickets and 35% on season passes. Over a similar period from 2012-2021, we have increased 45% on tickets and 55% on season passes. Considerable investments have been made in the last 8 or so years compared to the earlier period, so this makes up for the slightly more substantial increases as of late.

  9. We decided to take a quick drive (6 hours) from Vegas up to Lagoon, just north of Salt Lake City this past weekend. We had to get a haunt in this year. Even though the park was busy and mask rules are only enforced in queue and in mazes, I never felt uncomfortable as people pretty much kept their distance. Overall we had a really enjoyable visit to Lagoon. This park is very well ran, operations are smooth and queues keep moving constantly. They were loading all rows on all rides, hand sanitizer before and after each ride and before and after all haunted mazes. We have arrived for Frightmares! Happy to experience a theme park haunt this weird year! Employees carrying “Please Social Distance” signs were all over the park and enforcing mask wearing and distancing in the queues I like the skyline of this park! Roller Coaster celebrates 99 years this year! New hotness being built on the northeast corner of the park! I forgot how good Cannibal is! Super fun and smooth! I don’t normally like Ferris wheels, but this one is fun, you can spin your gondola like a tea cup! Cannibal’s station and a cameo of a couple Big Ass Fans! I’m really looking forward to this new coaster! Samurai was running, it runs a pretty weak cycle but it’s still fun! I approve of any park with a sky ride! Nice way to get across the park and get off your feet for a few minutes You can see social distance markers for the shows later in the evening The Wave Swinger is missing it’s top from the storm damage a few weeks ago Colossus, what a great ride!! The rides here are operated well and efficiently. All lines kept moving. Love the Flyers here Cannibal’s first drop is fantastic! All rows were being loaded on all rides Two trains, one photo This was the only part of the park that felt congested to me This ride was missing it’s roof from the storm damage too The Biergarten was amazing, if you visit you must have a meal here! Joey highly recommended getting a Beaver Tail and he was right! They were delicious! Oreo Cheesecake Hey! This Shake Shack still has Peanut Butter! Roller Coaster’s new trains and retracking made this such a smooth and fun ride!!! Denied a ride on Jet Star 2 For $20 you can skip the line for 7 of the mazes, completely worth it as they have to socially distance groups in the mazes Super busy for the mazes, general lines were over an hour, but with Time Warp, we didn’t wait over 15 minutes I felt that they did a great job with their haunt, the scare actors wearing masks made it harder to see them, so some of the scares were really really good We ended the night with a couple of walk on rides on Colossus Thanks Lagoon for a great visit!

  11. I had the exact same issue with my latest trip report from Tripsdrill which I did on the old forums. I shot my pics with my Nexus 3XL. Some (!) untouched pics were upside down. If I opened them with paint, did nothing else but saving them again directly, they were displayed correct. I haven't done my trip report from Holiday Park last week, but I'll have a look if it happens here again. It looks to me more like a problem with how the phone cameras are saving the pics and not with the forum software itself.

  12. People in so cal are so starved for theme parks, 2020 is probably the only year they could get away with it. Even I’d probably go!

  13. just to show example: Both of these picss are showing correct orientation on my iPhone, and on my desktop - since I move pics over to do TRs on my desktop system (my preferred TPR platform). the top one is an untouched pic the bottom one was opened via Photo Editor, opened the Crop/Rotate option, and "flipped" the pic to reverse it. .then flipped it back and saved as the same name. and that one loaded fine. so there's a way around it for me, but just to give the example

  14. I did see your pics! It looks like the young women you're sharing a flume ride with would benefit from hearing that message a little louder It was really only the Wonder Woman crew who were announcing the mask mandate today, and it didn't have a great deal of impact for anyone in that queue or on the ride.

  15. Shenanigans! Dollywood is a theme park. Do you realize how many people go to Dollywood for the shows? Or the Eagle habitat? Or the soot train? Or just to take it all in? Or the freaking cinnamon bread? I don't usually call out opinions but saying that people go to Dollywood for the rides is really out of touch with what that park and Silver Dollar City are for Herschend and the U.S. theme park scene in general.

  16. That's not really a fair assessment at a place like Dollywood. A large amount of people go there for the rides, yes, but they drive a lot of business for their non-ride offerings such as their shows, their food, the shopping, and yes, their museums. While I personally never checked out the Gospel Museum, I have checked out the Dolly Museum on previous visits and always left feeling like I could have spent a whole lot more time in there. The assumption that "people want rides, not museums" is exactly the sort of point of view that I would expect out of the average coaster enthusiast.

  21. ^^ It was today, Bert — from about 11:15am to 2:00pm. The mask business was bad. I'm over getting bent out of shape about such things, but I did get a few stealth-creeper snapshots to send to friends. I'm not posting them here because, in a couple of cases, the masks were emblazoned with political messages and, well, not worn on the face. I did get a few general panos of rope drop / super-spreader pens as well. I must say, though, I stopped by the outlets on my way back to Austin, and it was the same business there, mask-wise.
